Luna and Kai sat across from each other and had lunch. They didn’t talk but ate in silence. Luna took glances at Kai from time to time. Kai just kept his head down and ate his lunch.

“Kai?”

“Hmm?” he looks up with a fake smiles

“Gweanchanh-a?”

“Ne.” He lied, “Waeyo?”

“Ani, you just looked out of it. You’ve been really quiet these last couple of days.”

“Do I?” he smirks, “I’m probably just tired.” Luna puts her chopsticks down

“Oppa.” She scoffs, “Waeyo?”

“Bwoh?”

“Why are you bringing me down with you? Why are you like this?” Kai stops eating

“Let’s not talk about this.”

“Ani, let’s talk about it.” Luna crosses her arm, “You haven’t been acting like yourself since that…”

“Since that day you tried to kill SeulMi.” He puts his chopsticks down, “Ne, you want to know why?” He looks at her and leans in, “I have to be here with you while my friend, ani the person I love is in the hospital battling leukemia by herself.” He takes a deep breath, “I’m not here because I love you Luna. I’m here because I love SeulMi. A girl who was willing to take her life for your love. She told me that she rather die than see me with false hope of her recovering. She doesn’t hate you, she can never hate anyone. That is her biggest flaw, the only person she ever hated was me. But even that wasn’t pure hate.”   

“You did all this because of SeulMi?” She looks at Kai, “So am I just here to keep her alive?”

“If you want to put it that way.” Luna looked hurt, “Luna if you want to leave you can but I won’t chase you.” Luna stood up, “But if you also leave that means we end it here also.” She looks at Kai.

“There was nothing to start with.” Luna storms out and Kai chuckles

“There is nothing to begin with but there is always an end to everything.”

“I know you don’t want me around you.” Kai was curious, “I know you don’t love me. So let file for a divorce.”

“After tomorrow we can forget any of this happened.”

“I’m tired of this Kai.”

He remember every single time she wanted to end it with him, it never felt right. His friend who knew everything about him didn’t want anything to do with him. If he could turn back time he would go back to when he asked SeulKi out. To when they were teenagers and did stupid things. He would have loved her instead and not SeulKi.

“I’ll get you back.” He says to himself, “Once I do I will never let you go again.”

DongWon was walking back to SeulMi’s room. His face actually full of pain. EunMi walks by and sees him.

“Oh.” She walks up to him, “Oppa, what are you doing here?”

“Oh,” DongWon scratches his head, “I’m her to check on my back pain, it been hurting lately.”

“What did they say?” EunMi looked worried. DongWon was her one and only brother and he always protected her.

“They say that I’m fine. Just need to rest for a while.” He notice that she was still in a lab coat, “I thought that you weren’t supposed to be doing your internship anymore.”

“Today is my last day. I wanted to get a full body check up on SeulMi before I leave.” She smirks at DongWon, “Would you like to come along?”

“Sure. I haven’t meet her since the incident.” DongWon smiles and follows his sister. When they got to the room SeulMi had just finished eating.

“Hello unnie, DongWon ssi.” SeulMi smiles at them.

“How are you feeling?” DongWon notice she got paler the last time he had seen her.

“I’m fine DongWon ssi.” SeulMi remembers something, “I wanted to say thank you for saving me the other day. I didn’t know what would have happened if you weren’t there.”

“No problem.” DongWon was just glad he saved a life even though he wasn’t working.

“Oh SeulMi,” EunMi interrupted, “About the wedding, I ask Kai to pick you up.” SeulMi wasn’t disappointed nor was she happy. She just didn’t know how to face Kai after the huge dilemma she had given him. It was either Luna or she dies. “Is that okay with you?”

“Ne.” She faked a smile, “I haven’t seen him for a while anyways.”

“Did you get your dress yet?” EunMi asked, “Are you able to walk also?”

“I’m able to walk but I haven’t gotten my dress yet.”

“I’ll ask Dr.Yoon and see if he’ll let you go out for the day since you’re done with treatment for the week. We’ll bring you back later.”  EunMi leaves DongWon and SeulMi in the room together.

“So DongWon ssi, what bring you here?”

“I was here for a check-up and meet with EunMi. She said she was going to come and check-up on you so I followed her.” DongWon pulls up a seat and sit next to her, “SeulMi, I heard that you and Kai…” he hesitated to ask. He didn’t want to offend her in anyway, “you two are just friends now? What is up with that?” SuelMi nods.

“That day when Luna attacked me I saw the same look in her eyes that I had when I lost my family. You’re terrified, lost, and have no hope.” SeulMi sighs, “Kai was her pride and joy…the only thing keeping her going. Kai is my friend and it’ll remain that way.”

“Have you consider his feelings for you?”

“Ne…and I’ve come to realize that I can no longer give him what he needs. Our feelings maybe the same but I watch him suffer the same way he did with unnie.”

“SeulMi…I know what you’re going through. I lost the person I love too. It was really hard for me to get over and in the end the person who got me over her was EunMi. She supported me and tried her best to cheer me up. She told me that love comes and goes and sometimes it was just the wrong one.” DongWon takes her hand in his and pats it, “But what I see between you and Kai, it right and full of love. Don’t play with a man’s heart SeulMi, it hurts us too.”

Suho was on the elevator and wasn’t paying attention and got off on the wrong floor. He walks around that particular floor and saw pregnant women walking around with their husband.

Suho was just about to go to the family dinner when SeulMi called him he does a U-turn and drives to the hospital. He runs to the hospital and saw SeulMi sitting down not too far away from him. He runs towards her. SeulMi had scars all over her face and she was zoned out. They had just taken SeulKi’s body to the morgue.

“SeulMi.” She looks up at him and he knew she had been crying. He looks around and back at her “SeulKi?” SeulMi just turn her head and let the tears fall. At that moment he knew she was gone.

“SeulKi unnie told me to tell you that you were going to be an appa.” Suho was so shocked, “Waeyo oppa?” Suho looks at her, “Why did you do it?” SeulMi stood up and faced Suho, “Why did you leave unnie? WAE?”

“SeulMi.”

“Unnie loved you!” she started to cry again, “She didn’t want the baby to die. She was going to reject JongIn at the family dinner for you. So why didn’t you love her back!” she starts to punch Suho’s chest, “Waeyo! Waeyo!” As each punch landed on his chest it didn’t hurt as much as knowing that he had lost his family.

“I’m sorry SeulMi.”

Suho wish he could have seen his child. Maybe it would have looked like SeulKi. Suho went back to the elevator and got in. When he got SeulMi’s room DongWon was already gone. She was reading her book that Kris had brought her.

“Suho oppa.” She smiles and it made his heart felt warm, “What did you bring me?” she asked like a little kid.

“I brought you this.” He pulls out two long knitting needles and two balls of yarn. “You promise me a scarf and I never got it.”

“Ne.” she put the stuff back inside the bag, “Thank you.” Suho sat down and smiles at SeulMi. He watches as she slowly turns the page.

“SeulMi…” Suho looks down and back at her, “Do you know if…” he was scared to ask, “…was SeulKi ever upset with me.” SeulMi puts her book down and gave Suho a blank look.

“Ne she was…but mostly with herself. I don’t know why you did what you did oppa but Kai and I wasn’t worth you and unnie’s love.” SeulMi bit her bottom lip, “Kai and I would have been fine.”

“How about you?” SeulMi chuckles

“I wanted to tear your head off when unnie told me, but that night she said she was going to make everything right. If she was going to raise the child alone it was better than you guys both finding out it wasn’t Kai’s.”

“Why did you tell Kai?”

“He told you.”

“He told me everything. He was so upset I thought he might throw himself off the roof top.”

“I told him because I wanted him to hate me.” SeulMi mentally slapped herself, “I knew that if I said things about the woman he loved he’ll overreact without thinking. Then he’ll ponder on it and wonder if what I said was true.” Suho thought about it and laughs. SeulMi laughs because she knew Suho had figured it out.

“Aish….” He smiles, “You women are truly evil masterminds.”

“Hey that what best friends are for. You know how the brain works okay.” They both stop talking and turn to see Kai at the door staring at both of them. “Hi Kai.” SeulMi looks around him, “Where is Luna?”

“She is at home.” Kai walks in and glares at his brother, “I see that you’re feeling better.”

“Ne.” She smiles, “Dr. Yoon said I could leave for this week and come back after the wedding so you don’t have to pick me up here.” Kai nods, “So what are you and Luna wearing?”

“She isn't walking. EunMi sad that it will be better that way.” SeulMi was confused for a sec. Kai wished that SeulMi would stop mentioning Luna,

“What about you?”

“I’m walking with…” she looks at Suho, “Suho oppa.” Kai look like he wanted to say something but he was so upset. Just not too long ago he heard her laughing and talking to Suho. As soon as he walked in total silence. “Was this all you came for?”

“Ani…” Kai felt his hand was sweating, “I came here to tell you that I broke up with Luna…again.”

“Kai.”

“Please…I’m begging you. Give me a chance.”

“I can’t.”

“Waeyo.”

“Because I’m talking to someone else at the moment.”

SeulMi was discharge for the week. Suho to her back to her apartment. They got to her front door.

“Did you need me to stay for the night?” asked Suho

“Ani. Jean is probably still inside.” She smiles, “You can go home now oppa. I’ll be okay.” Suho just smile and left. She opens the door to her apartment and puts her stuff down. She looks at her empty apartment and sighs. “What does a person who is about to die do?” She took her phone out.

SeulMi sat down and waited at the place where Kai and she were named the 100^th couple. She had already ordered the special and waited for Kai. She even order Soju just for him.

“SeulMi.” She looks up and sees Kai standing right next to her. She motion for him to sit down.

“Thanks for coming out Kai.” She smirks as she grilled the meat and put it on his plate.

“Why didn’t you just ask your boyfriend to come out with you?” Kai was still angry at what happened. SeulMi stop for a sec but continued with what she was doing. She pours a shot for Kai.

“If I can’t even have a proper meal with my friend what makes you think I will want to eat out with my boyfriend.” Kai ignores her and start to eat, “I know you’re mad but why are you acting like a child.”

“Wae?” he puts his chopsticks down, “SeulMi, you can’t expect me to sit down and watch you date somebody else. Do you know how much that hurts me?” he took the shot and pour himself another one.

“Yes I do.” She couldn’t believe he was actually thinking that he was hurt, “I did it for more than five years. I watch you and unnie date and then there was all the other girls you brought home.” She took the shot glass from Kai and down it.

“Yah!” Kai knew she wasn’t supposed to be drinking.

“I asked you out here to clear your mind but if all you want to do is act like a child then be my guest.” She grabs her purse, “But I won’t be here to watch you do it.” She goes and pays the lady and leaves Kai.

“Stupid.” He put his glass down and followed her. For a sick girl she could walk pretty fast. He saw her down the road. He gets in his car and drive towards her. SeulMi was furious, she just wanted to have a meal with him and he wanted to spoil it with his childish act. “SEULMI!” SeulMi turns around and see Kai drives up next to her. She quickens her pace. “Yah! Kang SeulMi.” Kai got out of his car and ran after her. He got a hold of her arm as soon as he saw her he went mute. Everything he wanted to say was gone. “Get in the car I’ll send you home.”

“No thank you my apartment is just up ahead.” SeulMi tries to walk away but he pulls her back.

“I said get in the car.”

“And I said no thank you.” Kai didn’t want to deal with her and drags her to his car. “Yah Kim JongIn, let me go.” He closes the door on her and goes to the driver seat. “Yah this is kidnapping.” Kai didn’t care and drives off. He drives pass her apartment. “Where are we going?”

“Home.”

Kai pulls into his driveway with SeulMi expressionless next to him. Kai looks over and couldn’t help but smirk at her. He unbuckles himself and walks over and open her door. She just looks at him.

“Kaja.” SeulMi took a huge sigh knowing she wasn’t going to win this one. She got out of the car and Kai closes the car door. Kai starts to walk away and notice that SeulMi didn’t budge. He goes back and grab her hand. “Ka!”

“Waeyo?” Kai was starting to get piss, “I didn’t tell you to take me here. I said I wanted to go home.”

“Aish…If you don’t come in I’m going to carry you in.”

“Bwoh?” She looks at him from head to toe. Kai was a little too scrawny to be carrying her. Even if she did lose some weight from treatment he looked like he might break his back. “You carry me? I’ll like to see you try.” Kai quickly put his arm under her knee and carries her bridal style. “Yah!”

“I thought you knew better to provoke me.” Kai smiles at her and walked towards the door.

“Yah! Kim JongIn. Put me down.” She struggles. He stops at the front door, puts her down and unlock the front door.

“Welcome home.” Kai smiles at her. SeulMi walks in and was surprise to see the house was clean. “Surprise?” SeulMi looks back at him, “The new maid wasn’t as good as Jean so I let her go and decided to start cleaning myself.”

“It good for a beginner.” SeulMi said sarcastically

“Good?” Kai sighs “This is awesome for a beginner.” SeulMi notice the wedding picture still hanging above the fireplace. “I couldn’t take it down.”

“Waeyo?”

“It is the only thing that I believe was true.” SeulMi chuckles

“True? If I remember correctly you hated my guts. You only took the picture because eomoni made you.” Kai scratches his head.

“I wish it was true.” Kai looks into SeulMi’s brown orbs, “I wish all of it was true. If I knew what I know now I would not make the same mistake.”

“Mistakes are made so that we can learn from them.” SeulMi picks up a smaller picture frame, “But some people refuse to learn and just brush them off.” SeulMi puts down the frame and sighs, “I hope not to make that same mistake twice. You shouldn’t make the same mistake of falling in love with someone who is about to die.”

“But you’re not dead.” He walks over to her and stares her in the eyes.

“Yet.” SeulMi had a small smile, “So I want you to give up on me and go back to Luna.” She caress his hair.

“Luna and I are over. I want you back, SeulMi.”

“There isn’t anything here Kai. I’m already in a relationship.”

“I know it is a lie.” Kai scoffs, “because if you really love him you’ll let him go like me because you don’t want him to suffer. I know you love me SeulMi.”

“Everyone knows I love you, but do you believe that?” She crosses her arms, “Do you only believe what I’ve said after it comes out of everyone else’s mouth.”

“I didn’t until I saw it.”

“How do you know I am not faking it? How do you know I’m just not pulling an act?”

“How do you know if a tree is alive or died?” Kai touches her cheek, “That is the question you’re asking me right now. It is a simple question now isn’t it? The answer to it is also easy.” Kai pulls her into a hug, “Because I can tell by the way you look. It is written all over you.”

“How can you tell if a flower is real or fake?” SeulMi pulls out of the hug, “Another simple question. You can’t tell until you touch it.” She looks at him, “But there are also those that look real and feels real. Which one are you?”

“I’m real. This.” He indicates himself, “All of this is real.” He takes her hand and puts it on his chest, “My feelings are also real.” SeulMi felt guilty because she knew something that he didn’t know. Loving him meant that there was no secrets.

“Mines aren’t. I just wanted you because you were unnie’s. I never loved you.”

“You don’t mean that.”

“Kai, listen to me. I don’t love you.” This is all for you, unnie. “Not anymore.” Kai took the rings from his pocket and gave it to SeulMi.

“Take it.”

“Lovers’ Rings.” She looks at Kai, “A story is just a story, don’t believe in them too much.” Kai watches as she walked towards the door.

“You used to believe in stories too.” She stops at the door, “One in particular.”

“What?” She looks back him.

“You used to believe that friendship can turn into love.”

“And you believed that friends will always stay friends.” They stare at each other for a while. Kai felt a lump in his throat. SeulMi walks out the door.
