Notes

Titans

Feeling extremely uncomfortable sleeping alone, Kris tossed and turned throughout the night until he finally managed to fall into a deep sleep. Shuffling from the next room awakened him in the morning and there was sticky-note waiting for him on the floor. Dragging himself out of bed, he read the note aloud:

“Kris, why didn’t you write me back?”

He grabbed a pen off the wooden desk and scribbled on the paper. Sorry, Sehun didn’t give me it until late last night.

Haha XD I miss you~

I miss you too; did you sleep well last night? Kris wrote back on the sticky-note.

Yeah, I guess. I never renwei thought about how big your bed is actually actually is. Last night was pretty cold, huh?

Aren’t you guys leaving soon? I mean it’s already 8:10…

Yes, but I do not have anything better to do until then. Speaking of which, why are you awake so early? Don’t you guys sleep during the day?

I think it’s become a habit now, since I’m used to waking up this early Kris squeezed at the bottom of the note and slid it through the small hole in the wall.

I have to go now, the guards just arrived. Byeee <3 Tao wrote on the back of the sticky note. P.s. you should draw me a picture because I know you are an artist~

Kris smiled to himself. It was enough for him to at least communicate with his panda, even if he couldn’t see him. After a short mental debate, Kris decided that he should stay awake so he could be there when Tao got back… but how was he going to occupy himself while the younger was gone?

Exploring the wooden desk painted white to match the room’s two colored theme, he discovered a colorful “Learn Chinese” workbook probably meant for a child. Skimming through the pages briefly Kris noticed about half the pages had already been filed out in pen. The book looked familiar to him but he couldn’t place where he knew it from.

Kris took the book into the kitchen so he could make breakfast while examining its contents. He settled for a boring breakfast bar since his ability at cooking was about as good as an inch worm's. Turning to the first page, Kris nearly choked on his breakfast when he saw the owner of the books name.

Kris Wu Yifan (吴亦凡) Age: 6

“What the hell?” Kris muttered to himself.

“’What the hell’ what?” a voice came from behind him.

“Lay!” Kris jumped out of his chair, “You scared me.” he sat back down, “I was just looking at this book I found and… it has my name in it.”

“So?”

“I don’t ever recall using this workbook, though.”

Lay picked up the book, “Well, it says here that you had it when you were six, so you probably just don't remember using it.” he flipped through the pages. “Besides, you only filled out half of it; your handwriting is awful by the way.” The healing Titan laughed.

“Shut up! Like you said, I was six.” Kris blushed.

Lay suddenly stopped, and his smile focused into a more heart-felt one. “Here,” he handed it back with the last paged flipped open.

Kris recognized his handwriting and carefully read the writing.

Kris,

Um, hi me from another timeline or whatever. I don’t really get time travel that well. Anyway, today is the day me (you), Tao, and Luhan are all going to fight each other and it’s not something I look forward to. The dorm has become so creepy and lifeless now that everyone is gone. And as much as I miss them, I want Tao to stop hurting himself over and over again. He keeps going back in time because he doesn’t want to kill me and his body rejects unnatural deaths. So my poor Panda has been stuck in a cycle of watching and killing all of his friends and it needs to stop. That’s the reason I’m writing this to you. I asked Tao to bring this with him when he traveled back again but not to look inside it; he agreed so I guess you have it now. Please ask him to stop going back in time and to just accept being the victor. Do whatever it takes to convince him to move on and just accept fate. Please, that’s what I ask of you, Kris.

Please. For my dearest Tao… for our Tao,

Kris Wu Yifan.

Kris looked up at Lay who was reading over his shoulder.

“If only the you from that timeline knew about our great plan. He seemed to care about Tao a lot,” Lay spoke.

“Hey, I care about Tao.”

“I know,” Lay ruffled the other’s hair. “So, are you going to try and learn some more Chinese?” He started pouring himself a glass of apple juice.

“I was thinking about it because he and I are writing note—“ Kris stopped because he remembered that the hole in the wall was a secret between the two of them.

“Oh? Well, do you want any help?”

“No, I should be fine. I learned a little bit of Mandarin when I was younger, so this will just be a refresher to me,” Kris boasted.

“你说普通话?” Lay was fluent.

“I said a little bit, I didn’t say I mastered it yet,” Kris pouted.

“I just asked you if you spoke Madarin.” the younger chuckled.

Kris ignored him and grabbed a blank piece of paper to practice writing the characters. With much frustration and crumpling of his practice sheets, Kris finally managed to create a decent message in Chinese to present to Tao. So the Chinese-Canadian rushed to his room and slide the letter through the crack.

After a few minutes, the paper slid itself back to Kris, but it was full of red ink corrections with writing at the bottom:

Kris, you made a lot of little mistakes and your handwriting is atrocious. I’ll give you extra credit points because it was cute and I can tell you tried your best. Fix your mistakes and then I’ll hand it to Tao.

74%+5 extra credit 79% C+

You’re welcome,

Luhan gege

Kris reluctantly started over and followed Luhan’s suggestions before sliding it under the door. He hoped Luhan would actually give it to Tao. After exactly five minutes and twenty eight seconds - Kris counted with his stopwatch - a small piece of paper appeared next to him.

“Benben~” he heard a muffeled voice whisper.

“Tao?”

“Yeah, I read your letter,” he sniffed.

“Awe, did I make you cry?”

“Mmhm. You’re so stupid, Benben” Kris could hear the smile in his voice.

“Yah, you better appreciate my help, Kris! Tao wouldn’t have been able to read your letter if it wasn’t for me,” Luhan’s voice said.

“Don’t worry, Kris; I would’ve been able to read it. Thank you, I really appreciate it.”

“You’re welcome...I miss you.” Kris’s smile faded.

“I miss you, too but we’ll see each other soon, don’t worry. Just wait for me, okay?”

“It’s time for dinner, Tao” Luhan’s voice was distant.

“I’ll be out in a sec,” Tao’s voice spoke to the other. “I’ll be back after dinner. Until then, start drawing me a picture! I wanna hang it on our wall.”

With that, Kris intently drew as well as he could. He knew he wasn’t actually that good at drawing but he could convince others that he thought he was. At least Tao appreciated his efforts.

When he finished he slid the paper under the door with his signature and a small note:

“I want to the knight that slays all of your dragons.”

Chapter 24: I knew it!!! There was something weird about how the first duels were a bit... Harsh? Like they discarded everythig and were even throwing insults. And when Kris observed how forced Suho was, how he pracyically impaled himself on Kai's spear and even pulled it out to let the blood gush out. And when Luhan was talking to Suho, like he was telling him that he was going to die. Mehehehehehe, they're not dead! It's time for the Titans to rise!
