Call Them Pabo
Just A Phone Call Away***Hyukjae’s POV***
I woke up after what felt like hours of sleep.
For the first time in two days I felt like I was finally going to get better.
I sighed happily.
My head seemed to have cleared up.
These last two days had my head feeling like two hammers were constantly pounding away.
Suddenly I felt something on my forehead.
I opened my eyes to see I was lying with my head on someone’s lap.
Lin.
I looked up to see Lin, our new assistant.
She had her eyes closed and seemed to be fast asleep.
She was still caressing my face in her sleep.
I took the chance to really look at her for the first time.
She looked like a total westerner.
What did she say?
Where did she come from?
Germany?
She looked like it.
Her hair was a beautiful natural blond, she had a straight nose, big eyes, which I recalled were blue, she was light-skinned and her lips looked really kissable.
Wait, what are you thinking?
But, hey, it was true.
She was a really beautiful girl.
She kept on caressing my face and I liked it.
It felt nice and for the first time in a long time I felt like someone other than my family or band members really cared for me.
I didn’t want it to stop.
Damn, but I could feel another coughing fit coming again.
I battled with it but lost.
I started coughing and felt Lin's hand cease moving.
Her eyes flew open and she looked down at me.
She passed me a glass of water, which I drank gratefully.
"So, you’re finally awake?" she asked sleepily and I nodded after the coughing stopped.
She laid her hand on my forehead.
"Your fever finally sunk down, thank goodness!"
As she moved to pull back I quickly stopped her by laying my hand upon hers.
"Could you just continue what you were doing? It felt good and it helped with my headache" I asked her softly.
I could see her slowly turning red.
She looked even cuter when red.
"Oppa, you’re not trying to take advantage on me, because you’re ill, right?" she said with a smile around her lips.
I pouted and then complained, "Why ever would I do such a thing? It’s true; it’s like a massage and therefore helps with my headache. So, please? Pretty please?"
I gave her my best puppy face.
She stared at me and then let out a deep sigh.
I had to chuckle a bit as I could see I charmed her to give in.
"Okay, but just because it helps you. But first I will make you some hot tea and bring you some more soup. You have to eat to be back on your feet as soon as possible."
I nodded and she got up.
She smelled really nice I realized, as my pillow, where she sat on, had an unfamiliar scent.
I liked it.
It smelled like fresh spring air.
She came back with a bowl of soup and I sat up to take the bowl from her.
"Eat up, Hyukjae-shi!" she ordered and then left for the kitchen again.
The soup tasted great, I actually realized this time.
I got a bit confused.
Why is it, that I liked everything about her, even though we just met today?
I’m normally not that easy going with girls, as most of the girls I meet are either beautiful stars and you can never be sure, whether they like you because of your personality or just because it’s always good to make contacts in this business, or they are fan girls.
With them it’s really hard.
As a star, you can’t live without them but you definitely don’t want to live WITH them.
I could hear a phone ringing, and looked over to the kitchen where Lin picked up her mobile.
She gave a confused expression while looking at the display and then a big smile formed on her lips.
"Wei, Lun?" I could hear her say after she flipped opened her mobile.
Then she started to talk in another language.
I could easily recognize it as Chinese as I heard it often enough from Hankyung and some of the other members, especially Donghae, who tries really hard to learn it for Super Junior M activities.
I was able to understand a bit of Chinese but Lin was talking too fast for me to catch much.
Obviously the person on the other line wanted to know how she was doing and she said she was all right.
After that the talk became a blur to me.
She looked at me at some point of the conversation and gave off a soft laugh.
I really was wondering what she was talking about.
After a while I could hear her say "Hao, Lun, wo ai ni!"
Then she ended the phone call.
I love you?
I’m not that perfect with my Chinese, but a sentence like "I love you"?
Every star knows how to say it in many different languages.
When she came back from the kitchen with a teapot and a cup in her hands, I finished my soup quickly.
She sat the teapot and the cup down on the coffee table next to the couch and poured me a cup.
Then she exchanged my empty soup bowl for the cup.
"Drink up, Oppa!"
I groaned hearing that word as I remembered her telling me, that she would call a grandfather that in Germany.
"Why do you insist on calling me that?" I complained.
She grinned then ruffled my hair.
"Because you like hearing this weird endearment!" she said.
"No, not when you say it. Knowing as you’re thinking about a grandfather while saying it! Also we are the same age" I said grumpily.
She laughed.
"Oh come on, don’t be like that. I won’t think of a grandfather saying it. I will think of you!" she said and then left for the kitchen to clear away the soup bowl.
I watched after her smiling like an idiot.
She will think of me?
"Hey, Lin-ah, then you aren’t allowed to call the others, Oppa!"
She came back laughing and sat down next to me.
"What am I supposed to call them instead?"
I shrugged finishing my tea and lay back down on her lap.
After I gave her a pointed stare, she started to caress my face with her fingertips again.
"Maybe you can call them pabo?" I said in a hopeful voice, which made her laugh.
"Lee Hyukjae, I won’t call the other members pabo!"
I pouted "But they can be real pabos sometimes!"
"I will call them pabo when they deserve to be called that, alright?"
I grinned.
"So you will call them like that all the time."
She rolled her eyes and then sighed.
"How about I’ll just give you another name instead of Oppa and call the others Oppa, if they insist on it?"
I thought about it and then said, "It must be something cool, then. Something like hero or superman!"
She stifled a laugh.
"Okay, those are totally macho. Let me think about something? How about "honey"?"
I looked at her sceptical.
"No? Okay, what about "sunshine"? Hm, no, that won’t work. I already have a sunshine!" she said in thought.
"Is that what you call your boyfriend? This "Lun" guy you were talking to?"
She looked at me confused and then started to laugh.
"No, I wasn’t talking about Lun, I was talking about one of my friends back in Taiwan, Calvin."
Somehow I felt depressed.
Was it because she didn’t deny the fact that this "Lun" guy was indeed her boyfriend?
"I got it! I know what I will call you!" she suddenly exclaimed.
I looked up at her.
"I will call you "Sparky"!"
"Sparky?" I asked confused.
However would she come up with that kind of name?
"Yes, Sparky. It’s a name for a funny, upbeat person, who makes everyone around them happy!"
Her words made me feel warm inside.
"How do you know if I make people happy?" I asked.
She laughed.
"You’re a star, I know many thing about you, you know. You’re all over the internet!"
"So you looked me up on the internet?" I asked with a devilish grin.
She went beat red.
"Of course I did! After SME offered me the job, I had to look what I was getting myself into."
I looked at her.
Somehow I was getting the feeling she wasn’t telling the whole truth.
"So you never looked us up before that?"
She sighed, and then smiled.
"Sparky, you can be a brat sometimes."
I grinned, not ready to give up.
"Did you?"
"That’s for me to know and for you to never find out!"
I laughed.
"You’re busted. You so googled us before you got that job! You’re probably a fan!"
She starred at me in silence.
"I knew it!" I exclaimed laughing.
"Wait, you probably have a crush on one of the members!"
"Stop it" she said calmly.
"Who is it? Maybe I can help you. I can be your matchmaker!"
She gave me a pissed off stare, which made me laugh even harder.
"Wait, don’t say it, I will guess it. You’re in love with, hm, Teukie-hyung. All the girls fall in love with him!"
She rolled her eyes.
"No? Then it must be Siwon, right? I mean, the hot body and that smile and then girls want to feel protected."
She snorted.
"Okay, then maybe you like someone who seems to be more caring, a cuddly kind of guy. What about Hae?"
She laughed.
"I might consider being in love with him!" she said smiling.
I looked up at her confused.
"You might consider? You’re weird, you know that, right? Oh, that’s it. You’re in love with Yesungie-hyung."
She shook her head smiling.
"Yes, Yesung-shi would definitely be my first choice. He is totally perfect and the coolest guy ever!"
I stopped laughing.
"Really?" I asked kinda depressed.
She flicked my head.
"Aish, stop this stupid discussion, will you? I don’t have a crush on any of them, Sparky!"
I smiled and she smiled back.
"See, you definitely can make people happy. You made me laugh, right?"
I grinned at her.
"So, I will give you a nickname, too."
"Better not, I’m already afraid of it!" she said dryly.
"I will call you "Angel"!" I exclaimed.
She laughed.
"Why ever would you call me that? I’m not that good of a person!"
"But you are. We just met and you already helped me a lot. Actually you seemed like an angel to me. Saving me. I was so ill before you came. Besides you have the blonde hair and blue eyes I always imagined an angel would have."
She shook her head.
"You are a kind person, Lin-ah!" I said.
She looked taken aback.
"Besides, it will piss off Teukie-hyung as he always claims to be the number one angel guy!" I said grinning, proud of myself.
She rolled her eyes.
"So your main point is to piss of Eeteuk-shi?"
I nodded.
"You’re being stupid, Sparky!"
"You like it, Angel!"
We laughed together.
"So, Angel, you have to promise me, that I’ll always be your number one guy in Super Junior!"
She snorted.
"How am I supposed to give that kind of a promise? I don’t even know the others, yet!"
She was right, but I really wanted her to like me the best.
I didn’t know why, but it was important to me.
"Just promise me, will you? Besides I’m the most likeable out of those guys anyway!"
I held out my pinkie.
She looked at it and started laughing.
"Okay, Sparky, I promise. But if you act like a jerk, I will definitely break that promise!"
We linked our pinkies.
"Agreed!"
We looked at each other.
"So, you should get some sleep now!" she said.
I shook my head.
"I’m feeling much better and not sleepy at all. Let’s watch TV!"
She sighed then went to switch on the TV.
"Let’s watch a drama!" she said.
"No, lets watch some comedy!" I requested.
She rolled her eyes.
"Whatever!" she said and went to find some comedy on the TV.
Then she sat down on the couch and I laid my head on her lap again.
We watched in silence and when I wanted to ask her if she could understand what they were talking about on the TV, as they were talking really fast, I looked at her and had to find out that she was already asleep again.
Today must have been hard on her.
I smiled.
I really liked her a lot.
With that thought I closed my eyes and soon fell asleep, too.
