Chapter 38

Youngest of Pieces: [WHO- I AM] (8)

Maria is often right. Hannah’s tiredness as well as bad mood changes when the group is on the train. She gets to slumber in sleep a little too, sitting there with her hair and make-up done, wearing the outfit for the activities but in sneakers instead of high heels. Sitting next to Hannah is Maria, and the two of them giggles for nothing. Maria started off saying something that made them all laugh, followed by Hannah and Maria giggling every other minute for nothing at all. It could be because they are tired, but Hannah is really in a better mood by then.

Her boyfriend doesn’t answer her text until they have reached Sendai and are in a hurry to head to the fan meeting location. He has a smiley that gives her a kiss, writing that he is alright and that he is sorry for not being able to come tonight, adding that a picture of her would make him feel better. She smiles at his response; he is in a good mood. She writes back to tell him he should recover so he can make up for tonight, and when it comes to that picture, she takes a picture of herself and Maria to send him in another text, in that text writing that Maria wishes him to recover well too. Hannah has talked to Maria on the train, not saying anything about her own reaction or how she feels about it rather than simply saying that Jonghyun’s sister told her he isn’t seriously injured and he is okay, and Hannah is calm for that it isn’t something serious. Maria knows it is more, it’s easy to know when Hannah isn’t telling you everything, but Maria isn’t the one who forces someone to tell things (unless it is deeply important), so she is satisfied with just having a smiling Hannah next to her.

Hannah is tired today. Through the day’s schedule she keeps yawning and her eyes feels to be half the size than usually, so tired. Her movements don’t feel so bright either, but she doesn’t make any big mistakes and she doesn’t mix up Korean and Japanese when talking, and it does seem like the day goes well.

Coming back to Korea, Hannah wasn’t sure what she was going to do. The ladies are excited to be back and that they will get to sleep at home, but Hannah doesn’t go home. She can’t figure out what to do there, and she doesn’t want to feel stuck inside the apartment, and neither does she have the energy to go to the gym, so she ends up in the practice-room at SM Entertainment. She locks the door to the practice-room, hugging the cardigan closer to her body when turning on some music and carefully she starts to warm up her body and sings along randomly to the music while facing the wall filled with mirrors.

She is wearing a half-placket ribbed top in black and a pair of jeans. The shoes are thrown to the side when she is warming up, getting ready to just let out that annoying anger she had in her this morning and that is returning now when she is remembered that she can’t see Jonghyun. She isn’t allowed to see him!

Tired or not, Hannah starts to dance. No, she stops to dance and starts to sing instead, shouting or sounding angry, making sure she has the right songs to sing like that. After a while she takes off the cardigan, moving over to dance to [Black & White] and then [Daze], followed by her own song [Butterfly] that she doesn’t even comes half way through because she is reminded of the producer telling her that Jonghyun inspired him to make it – Jonghyun calls Hannah for butterfly (Korean: nabi). She goes over to songs that isn’t her own or 5 Pieces, instead coming in to a mix of songs she loves. One of the songs is Beyoncé’s [Naughty Girl], a song Hannah briefly danced to on Strong Heart in January. She hasn’t listened to the song since then though she likes to dance to it when she is alone.

Hannah being alone in the practice-room feels like a sort of freedom for her. No eyes and no judgement other than her own, and she might be her worst judge but when she is getting out her frustration and emotions, she rarely thinks of how it actually looks. That’s freedom: Emptiness with music and her doing whatever she feels like doing.

Though she thinks the music is really loud (just to drown her own thoughts), she manages to hear someone knock on the door during this song. [Naughty Girl] doesn’t have such a loud melody as the previous songs she has been playing. Hannah looks over her shoulder, seeing a tall dark figure stand outside the door-glass and Hannah walks over to turn off the music before she rush to the door to unlock it. Standing before her is that perfect looking rookie who is stunning every time she sees him; he is looking down at her with a tiny smile in his face and eyes showing that he is entertained.

“Good afternoon, senior,” EXO’s Kai greets her politely, even bowing deeply to her, and when he stands back up his smile has gotten a little bigger and she knows he is making fun of her. He is really the most perfect Asian Hannah has ever seen. Yes, he is more perfect on his looks than Jonghyun, but that is also the thing; perfection isn’t Hannah’s style.

“Did you come to laugh at me?” Hannah asks him in a slightly annoyed tone, making Kai bite his lip.

“No, sorry,” he apologizes, and Hannah really can’t be annoyed by that. “I came to get my jacket – I forgot it in here before.”

Hannah turns around when he points inside the room, letting him come inside while looking over at the jacket hanging on a chair along the wall.

“Were you practicing for a new performance?” Kai asks when stepping inside the room. Though he has long legs, he seems to take his time to walk over to get his jacket. “I stood knocking for a while, so I saw you dancing.”

“I’m just releasing some stress,” Hannah mutters, and she walks away from the door when noticing how slow he actually is. “I’m exhausted but thought some dancing would make my head clearer than sleep.”

Kai picks up his jacket and looks at her with his eyebrows frowning and the corner of his lips curled up just slightly. She glances at him to see that when he is slowly, extremely slowly, walking through the room.

“Is it going well for you then?” Kai asks. Dancing is his interest, no matter what dance it is; he is interested in it. Hannah sits down on the floor by the stereo to wait for him to leave before she can continue.

“What do you mean?”

“To clear your head through dancing – is it helping?”

She shrugs her shoulders lightly. “I don’t know. I keep thinking about the things I try not to think; therefore the loud music.”

“Do you want some help?”

This time, Hannah doesn’t answer. She looks puzzled at him, not really understanding, and Kai gives a white flashing smile at her. He throws his jacket back on the chair, telling her to turn on the music again and teach him whatever it was she was dancing. Hannah gives a laugh, shaking her head, but Kai waves his hand and tells her it is for fun. With a sigh, she turns on the music, [Naughty Girl] playing over again and she gets up on her feet to walk up next to him.

“This is silly,” she mutters at him, but she can’t help but to smile.

“Dancing is never silly,” Kai tells her honestly, “or, well, that depends on the person… we got Chanyeol and Kyungsoo who can make any good dance silly…”

Hannah laughs, but her laugh is stopped by Kai hurryingly telling her to start and Hannah turns around. Kai stands about a meter away from her, standing the same way she is doing and when Hannah starts doing a wave he follows. She laughs at it, but continues. When she squats down, her shoulder facing the mirror, and bumps out her once, Kai is just watching. And when she pops her chest and for the next part, she can see how he is smiling, so Hannah stops right away, laughing out of embarrassment.

“You told me to teach you!” she laughs at him.

“I’m a great dancer, but I can never dance like that – I’m a guy,” Kai informs her with a smile, “and since when did you get so y?”

Hannah leans her head back, laughing at him.

“I’m serious, you have gotten really y!” Kai continues, almost sounding fascinated by it.

“I’m the same person I was last year.”

“Maybe it’s the age,” Kai points out and this time, she knows he is joking around with her, but she can’t help but to look offended by it and pretend she is going to kick him. He really has taken this “let’s drop the formalities and be friends” seriously.

“Are you calling me old?” Hannah asks him.

“Not old, just … y.”

She rolls her eyes at him before she puts a hand on her hip and raises her eyebrows at him. “Will you be taught or not?”

He bites his lip again, smiling at the same time and damn, he looks so cute. Hannah just smiles at him. “Can’t we dance to another song?” he suggests, and while Hannah looks like a question-mark, Kai walks over to the stereo to look through the CDs on the side before finding what he looked for, and he searches for the right song. When the music starts to play, Kai runs up to Hannah and pushes lightly with two hands on her arm to make her take a step to the right and he stands next to her.

“Seriously?” she asks him.

“I like this one.”

Jason Derulo’s [It Girl] – a song that Hannah performed with Kai and some others a year ago at SM Town’s concert. Hannah tells him that she probably doesn’t remember all steps.

“Just follow me,” Kai tells her and he shoots her a bright smile when she glances up at him.

It is a good song, and the two of them starts to dance. Hannah is light on her feet, dancing around in socks, almost walking on her toes. Kai starts to smile when he sees her feet. There is one part Hannah is always embarrassed over. At the end of the chorus, she is supposed to take a simple spin to shift position with him, and Hannah always makes a mistake. She either does it the wrong way or she forgets if she is supposed to be at the front or the back and even now, doing the same mistake she always did a year ago when they had that short period to practice, she does the spin and bumps in to Kai. He chuckles, placing a hand on her shoulder when stepping to the side. Hannah always lowers her head there, wanting to hide behind her hair. Hannah places her hand on his shoulder, her fingers curled in to barely touch him, when they dance the next part.

She gives a laugh when they continue and Kai is smiling too. He looks so good when he dances. Hannah never questioned why Kai had so many teasers when EXO was making their debut; there is just this perfection about him. Sure, he probably makes too many strange face-expressions when he dances (and when he doesn’t dance…) but the way he moves is really nice to look at, and honestly, his whole body from top to toe with face; eyes, nose, cheeks, mouth, chin, even his ears makes him handsome. He has this youngster handsomeness, Hannah thinks, a charm that teenage boys can have. She thinks that if he was Swedish, her mother would love him as a son-in-law. That perfect son-in-law, handsome and … most of the times mannered.

It’s awkward though when the song comes to *get your body close* and Kai steps up behind Hannah and her whole body tingles when his hands are lightly touching her hips, them both moving back and forth before parting. Always, always, always she gets tingly for that part.

It’s strange how he is just two years younger than her, but Hannah feels like she is twenty years older. It is horrible to feel like that.

Once the song comes to an end – and Hannah has over and over been feeling a tingly feeling in her body each time he moves closer to her – Kai starts to smile widely again.

“You have definitely gotten ier since last year,” he tells her and Hannah feels it is hopeless. What’s up with people and iness? Kai is smiling like a child though, so it sounds like a teenage boy talking about in front of her. It’s not a sight she likes.

“And you have definitely gotten stranger since last year,” Hannah tells him tiredly.

“It didn’t help?” Kai asks, not smiling anymore, and he clears his throat when she looks questioning at him. “Your head. I thought that if you danced with someone, you had to focus on me too and not all the things that you have going on… It didn’t help?”

“It did help, thank you,” Hannah forces out a smile, and that smile grows when she thinks of how cute he actually is. Kai smiles again, transforming to a little boy.

For a few seconds it gets quiet, and Hannah is just smiling at Kai because he seems to not know what to do.

“Do you want to dance more or… do you want to talk?” he asks her eventually, still looking to not know what to do.

“You can go back to your own practice now,” Hannah smiles thankfully at him; she doesn’t want him to feel like he should stay.

“My practice hasn’t started yet,” Kai is fast to answer. “I mean… well, my last practice for today isn’t starting yet in a while. I got time in case you need company. Unless you don’t want me to stay…”

Hannah looks at him strangely, not having a clue of what he is thinking. He seems nervous, or eager; she doesn’t know what it is with him, and she doesn’t know what she wants to do either, to let him stay or let him go, to continue dancing or something else. In the end she sits down on the floor, shrugging her shoulders at him first and tells him he can do what he feels like. Kai hesitates but then sits down too, maybe two meters away from her, and Hannah smiles at him.

“What do you want to talk about?” she asks, feeling extremely awkward now.

Kai pouts outs his lips when thinking of what to answer, not looking away from her, and she keeps smiling sweetly at him to not have her I’m-too-tired-to-smile expression. He then looks down at his hands and if Hannah didn’t know better she would think he was blushing somewhere beneath that perfection.

“I’m actually curious over a few things…” he says in a low voice without looking up.

“Okay… If you think I can answer, I’ll give it my best,” Hannah says, trying to sound positive because after all, she is the senior. She has no idea of what he might ask her because he is really a great dancer and fans loves him like maniacs, it’s not like she can teach him anything either.

“When we (EXO) came to your concert on Friday… You had a message on the screen after performing [I CRY],” Kai starts to say and Hannah can feel her shoulders sink while her stomach is getting tense. She didn’t think it would be about that song. “And… well, I was curious to know… what that message really meant. I know what it says – they translated it for us – but I’m curious to know what it actually means…?”

When he is done talking, he looks up at her without raising his head, and Hannah finds herself biting her own lip now, not really knowing what to answer. That was definitely not a question she expected and the whole atmosphere has deepened. She touches her hair, moving her hair to not have it behind her hair but then puts it behind her hair again as it otherwise falls in her face. She glances down from the floor to his face, seeing that he really wants an honest answer.

“May I ask why you got this question?” she asks him, trying to buy time to think of the question.

“I like the song,” Kai simply answers. “I guess I’m like everyone else; your song is really good and I like the meaning for it. It says much more about you than any other song. … What does the message mean?”

Slowly, Hannah shrugs her shoulders. It feels weird talking to Kai about [I CRY]. It’s not that they don’t talk to each other, but … talking about [I CRY] at all is awkward for Hannah, and Kai hasn’t before seemed to be the one to prefer that song over other songs.

“The message says… in Korean, ‘the lights I see are no longer from cars, but from the stage… And I know that in the dark around me, before me, there are people listening to me’. The lyric is about wanting to die, and commit suicide by stepping out in front of a car… So by saying the stage is the light I now see, I guess I mean that I found a different light that makes me want to live,” Hannah answers, and she is about to explain the other part when Kai interrupts her.

“Did you really feel that?” he asks her, his eyes filled with interest, almost as if they are growing and he is leaning forward with his arms resting on his legs. “Did you want to die, but the stage saved you?”

This time, Hannah can’t look away from him. She just blinks, quietly looking at him for god knows how long, and her head is just blank while his question repeats in her head with his voice.

“If I-” she starts to say but her voice stops in and she gives a cough, surprised at how surprised she is over his interest, “I…”

She blinks again at him before answering.

“Yes.”

Kai leans back, as if her answer makes him have to take it in. He then gives a nod. “Why didn’t you want to live?” he then asks, and Hannah thinks she is going to stop breathing soon by his questions. “Was it because of your family or didn’t you think life was worth living?”

Since when did he have so many questions about her? Hannah is confused over Kai, but he looks like he really is interested to know her honest answers. That face looking at her, eyes stuck on hers and his lips are parted to breathe in and out slowly. She can see how his chest rises at each new breath he takes.

“I guess it was everything,” Hannah whispers to him, “I didn’t know what I wanted with life, and I didn’t find anything real to like.”

“Anything real?”

She actually gives a smile at him, feeling shy now. “I read a lot when I was younger. I loved to imagine things and everything I imagined was much better than reality. I loved the life I imagined myself having or the lives I could read about in books, and I didn’t think I would ever be able to get something like that. I locked myself away from reality so many times.”

“You still do,” Kai mentions in a low voice and Hannah frowns at him, not knowing what he means. Kai looks around in the room. “You lock yourself in this room.”

“True,” Hannah giggles, looking down at her hands, “but I didn’t like anything when I was younger. I don’t know what happens when you die, and honestly I don’t care, but I thought that even if I become a black hole or if I get to start all over again, anything would have been better.”

“And that is why you wrote that message?” Kai seems to understand and she smiles at him again, nodding. “To make people realise that committing suicide will stop your biggest adventure.”

She laughs this time, nodding in agreement.

“I like that,” he tells her and Hannah smiles at him. He is really cute. “It’s true what people say, Hannah. You are changing lives. It was amazing to sit in the audience on Friday during your concert; everyone really felt that nothing is impossible just because 5 Pieces has proved you that, and everyone was crying like children during your stage.”

“Were you crying?” Hannah teases and she laughs when he just smiles at her.

“I’m a man and real men don’t cry,” Kai jokes with her.

“That is absolutely not true,” Hannah laughs lightly, “only a real man is brave enough to show his tears for others, knowing he has nothing to loose on that. And beside, I think you listen to Taemin too much; you sound exactly like him there.”

“If Jonghyun said real men don’t cry, would you agree with him?” Kai suddenly asks while Hannah is getting up, and though she is a little taken back by that question she still laughs.

“I would pinch him ‘til he cried,” she continues to joke.

“Would you agree?” Kai stubbornly repeats when standing up too, “you didn’t answer that.”

“I wouldn’t agree,” Hannah answers, looking at him who now is tall looking down at her. “I have my own opinions, just like you have yours. I wouldn’t change mine if I stand strongly for it.”

Kai looks like he has several questions to ask her, and after a few seconds he asks the next one. “Do you want me to stop asking questions?”

“You can ask me how many questions you want, as long as you stand with the consequences.”

“What consequences?”

Hannah gives him a smile, not knowing that it is that flirty smile she can have at times, and Kai’s face goes blank while looking at her. “I’m not an easy person, Jongin, I think you know that.”

“Everyone says that,” he breathes out, “but I don’t understand it.”

She looks a little confused, asking what he doesn’t understand.

“If I ask you a question, you always answer it so I can understand. So if I ask you enough questions, you wouldn’t be so complicated,” he answers.

Again she smiles. “Maybe that’s true,” she says, liking his answer but she knows it isn’t completely true. “Do you mean you are trying to figure me out then?”

Hannah has no idea but it sounds like they are flirting with each other, though she personally just thinks it’s some fun joking around. And Kai is well aware of that she has a boyfriend – his name was even mentioned. Still that thought of flirting are lurking around in her head strangely and it feels weird because she still can’t stop smiling at Kai who is smiling back at her. She remembers she had gotten up on her feet to get her cell phone from her cardigan lying on the side, but now she doesn’t move, looking at the one standing two-three meters away from her.

“Would it be bad if I did?” he answers her question with another question and Hannah just shrugs her shoulders, now heading over to pick up her cell phone. Hannah sighs when she sees that Manager Lim has sent her a text asking her to come to the car so he can send her home and she puts on her shoes with a glance at Kai who is still looking at her.

“I have to go now. But it was … interesting, talking with you,” Hannah tells him and picks up her cardigan, walking up to Kai when heading towards the door.

“You have to leave?” he asks, looking disappointed.

“Yeah… my manager is leaving, so I’m going with him…”

“I guess, I should thank you for answering my strange questions then,” Kai says with some shyness before he shoots her a smile and she smiles back at him.

“I definitely did not expect those questions from you,” she tells him lightly, “I have to go now.”

Kai walks after her after hurrying to pick up his jacket. “Why didn’t you expect it from me?” he asks when walking behind her out of the room.

“You have never asked such questions before,” she simply answers while shrugging her shoulders, glancing a little behind at him when he walks up next to her.

“Is it good or bad?” he wonders while looking at the floor.

Hannah laughs, not knowing why he has such questions at all. It’s like a different Kai has popped up in front of her now. “It could be good. I get to know you a little more.”

“You get to know me better because I ask you questions?”

“Sure. It shows what you are thinking about,” Hannah simply answers, and she really can’t stop smile at him. Well, she has absolutely no idea of why he is asking these questions, but it is interesting to hear him ask her. Kai is slowly nodding, and Hannah smiles a little wider at how cute he is.

“I have a final question,” Kai asks her then, his eyes just briefly meeting hers before he looks down again.

“What is it?”

“When you look at me, do you think I look a lot like Taemin?” Kai wonders when they stop by the elevator. “I mean… everyone says we look alike, and you said before that I sounded like him too…”

He dares to look up though the question is weird, and he is more nervous asking this question than the previous questions. Hannah is looking at him and he can see how she is comparing them, looking at his features and maybe comparing him to Taemin in her head right now. Kai swallows nervously, not looking away from her.

“No,” she gives a short simple answer, pressing for the elevator to come. “The words you said before sounded like the words Taemin says, but on your voices you are not alike at all, and though you can look a little alike at times… I would say no, I don’t think you look a lot like Taemin.”

She smiles widely when seeing how relieved Kai looks, and she even laughs when he seems like he even starts to breathe after her answer.

“You are weird,” she laughs and touches his arm when the elevator comes. “Don’t hurt your self at practice,” Hannah says before disappearing inside the elevator.

To go to sleep before 10PM is probably the first in years for Hannah, but she fall asleep fast and she doesn’t wake up until morning when the alarm sets off. Though she slept for so long, Hannah doesn’t want to get up from bed. It is her own bed she has slept in, in her own room. It is all so familiar, as if she has come home after being gone for a long time and maybe she is more relaxed sleeping at home in Seoul rather than their newest apartment in Tokyo.

When she came home last night she was smiling for herself several of times, and happy that Emelia isn’t sharing room with her in Seoul because Hannah would have to explain why she was smiling like that to. Kai was really strange, but he was fun, and Hannah keeps smiling when going through not just their strange conversation but also when he tried to help her get in other thoughts by dancing. He is strange, in a charming way.

The first half of the day, 5 Pieces are practicing in the practice-room. And after getting ready with hair and make-up at the saloon, 5 Pieces are at a broadcast station to film a special broadcast called ‘5 Years of Pieces’. With performances of 5 Pieces’ best songs for the past five years, plus some covers, 5 Pieces are today recording the songs that will air on their 5th unofficial anniversary – 5 Pieces’ unofficial anniversary means the date they first came to Korea, meaning their anniversary in Korea, their time seen as 5 Pieces.

Fans are sitting in the audience, all ready to spend over 12 hours here to watch the recording; sitting with their purple balloons and watching the staff preparing the stage.

The broadcast will be long, with the staff changing the staff between a few songs, and the fact that they will record fifteen songs seems like almost having a mini concert.

Dressed in purple, 5 Pieces makes their first appearance of the day for the fans that starts to cheer. It is a rare sight to see 5 Pieces dressed like they are now; Carolina is in a lattice-yoke gather-waist playsuit while Julia is in a drawstring-waist ruffled playsuit, Maria is daring in a contrast-collar peplum lace top that their manager had found in Tokyo that she has to wear safety pants under because it is extremely short, Hannah is in a sleeveless cowlneck belted dress and Emelia is in a cap-sleeve lace top and pleated tapered pants. All in the same purple colour, only Maria and Emelia has traces of black on their clothes and on their feet they are all wearing these thick purple socks. Fans are cheering when seeing their feet, all knowing what song the group is beginning with just from their feet. Only one song of 5 Pieces has had this kind of concept; [I Love You].

5 Pieces greets their fans, starting off politely before talking friendly and asking how everyone’s doing and if they can believe it’s been five years and so on. Hannah is the quiet one today. It feels like she will mix up Korean and Japanese if she starts to talk, so she stays as the shy magnae at the moment.

They rehearse the song live before they record [I Love You] two times. It isn’t any problem performing this song, especially not in simple socks and dresses – beside from Maria who can’t move as freely as she would want to because of the short dress she is wearing – so the ladies are just getting warmed up after this song. Their fans are getting warmed up too with their cheers, and they laugh when Emelia bows funnily when the girls are heading off the stage to go change for the next song.

Hannah is in a good mood though she doesn’t say much. It feels like a special day. She is still a little tired from not sleeping well for several days to sleeping extremely well just one night, but her head is up in high gear and she is ready to record, dance and sing and entertain their Korean fans. It’s like they are celebrating their five years in Korea a little early, but the fans doesn’t seem to mind as they seem to be the ones ready to start celebrating already. Hannah likes how all five members in 5 Pieces are wearing the same ring on a finger; a few years ago the ladies got the same ring (like a couple ring, but with five) and they said it is the promise to stay together forever – maybe not as 5 Pieces, but as friends, because that is what matters – and Hannah likes the fact that their fans knows about the rings. Carolina had not long ago revealed a page on the internet where fans had uploaded pictures of 5 Pieces wearing that special ring on performances, events, at the airport or in pictures they have uploaded themselves…

It connects them.

The recording continues. 5 Pieces performs [One and Only] next dressed in denim outfits with the same stage setup like they had for [I Love You], beside from some details

And slowly, very slowly, hours of recording passes. There are breaks in between for the fans to stretch their legs, use the bathroom and get something to eat. This time, different from when 5 pieces have concerts or performances where the fan-club pays for lunch, today it is 5 Pieces who is paying for the food for everyone’s stomachs to be satisfied. Tired by that time, Hannah is still not dried from energy because of their fans. It is magical how fans can give them so much energy to just keep recording no matter how tired they get – and the fans must get tired too but not many shows it. The ladies are thankful for their fans, always and forever.

After recording six of their past songs, 5 Pieces prepares for the solo songs they have practiced briefly. Hannah’s solo song is [I CRY], which performance will be taken from her Music Core performance a year ago where she performed with SHINee’s Taemin on the piano. So Hannah has no song to record, which means she can get a long time to sleep as the stage has to be prepared between each stage. Hannah doesn’t sleep. She got too much energy for that. Instead she sneaks over to sit on a chair next to the audience (the audience is seriously freaking out when Hannah sneaks over to sit nearby) to watch the rehearsal of the first song.

Maria and Emelia have for a while been preparing to do a duet of the Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s [Empire State of Mind] ever since 5 Pieces went to New York back in January. The reason they are recording that song for their ‘5 Years of Pieces’ is because during the broadcast it will show a lot of clips of 5 Pieces in the US for this song. SM has thought it all through. It will be the first time actual backstage clips of 5 Pieces during their New York and Los Angeles visit will be shown, and Emelia’s low voice will be rapping for Jay-Z while Maria’s high voice will hit the vocals like Alicia Keys. The rehearsal makes Hannah smile, and she can’t stop smiling.

“They are really good, don’t you think?” Hannah tells some fans sitting closest to her and they are all telling her they are amazing (well, one of them says Hannah is better, but Hannah seriously doubt she could perform this better as well as her two members). Hannah even gets to hold a purple balloon on her own once the recording starts, joining in the fans.

They are extremely great, her members. Hannah stays a little after that song’s recording, not until now actually talking to the fans while her members had done it from the stage all this time. She talks a little while the stage is getting prepared and then she disappears and not until the next song is going to be rehearsed she comes back. The fans are laughing a little at her, some asking if she isn’t going to perform too (since she isn’t getting ready like the other members backstage) and others asking if she is bored. Hannah got nothing yet in a while to get prepared for.

Carolina is doing Adele’s [Skyfall]. There are two pianos on the stage; one where Carolina is playing and on the other is their vocal teacher. He will be in the background, like a back-up pianist to Carolina. She sings while playing, and Hannah is quietly watching. She loves the James Bond movies, she has since she was a little girl, and she loves this song, and all her fans knows she is mesmerized by the piano; so the fans in the audience are smiling and giggling over Hannah’s dazed face-expression during Carolina’s rehearsal and recording.

Carolina & Julia together next are performing Maria Mena’s [Just Hold Me], a song Julia has liked for a long, long time now. They perform it well. Emelia also gets to perform Jon Bon Jovi’s [It’s My Life].

Many of the songs, both the covers and 5 Pieces’ own songs, will at the broadcast be mixed up with clips of the ladies getting ready backstage for a concert or like when they were in New York, or when they are getting popular and fans crowding on the airports to meet them and so on. For some performances, like for [Moon Child], there will during the song be clips of old performances, just to show how 5 Pieces has grown since.

5 Pieces performs [Oppa] first after the solo/duet parts, followed by the trio Maria, Carolina and Julia performing [Passion] that they released back in 2010. Each stage is different. When they perform the ballad [The Rainbows Colours] that is dedicated to their fans, they are standing on different platforms on the stage, white platforms with smoke and balloons all around them.

There are just two songs left to perform after that. The first one is [Someone who is stupid over love] from their third album last year, a song that features DBSK’s Changmin, and the ladies feels extra nervous by then.

The night has already passed, so it is Wednesday already, filming for a long, long time. When 5 Pieces appears on the stage, now in another outfit for the ballad, they shyly and honoured introduces DBSK’s Changmin who had sneaked up on stage with them – of course the fans noticed him, screaming when seeing him, but he pretended it wasn’t for him until he was introduced. And though they haven’t rehearsed yet, it is obvious for the audience what song they will sing. And they sing really great; though they have practiced a little backstage and during the rehearsal they do now, and it sounds so great to sing with a senior like Changmin. They take a picture together backstage too, where a photographer has been taking shots the whole recording time to get a special magazine spread about 5 Pieces’ five years.

Final song of the recording is [Daze]. 5 Pieces gets tattoos and everything prepared for this one while the stage is prepared with fencing and what not to make it look really cool and dark with walls filled with graffiti and such. It is a cool stage, and it is obvious once again for the audience to know what song it is because the graffiti’s biggest word does say ‘Daze’…

It is a good song to end the recording with. The audience gets excited and even gets up on their feet, cheering and chanting during 5 Pieces’ recording.

“Thank you SO MUCH!” the ladies ends the recording, but they don’t forget to hand over special gifts to their fans before leaving.

And now, 5 Pieces has to wash up and head to Japan for fan meetings and live performances of [Run Out], run, run, run there.
