Thirty
Summoning the SupernaturalDespite their ability to physically defend me, Hoshi, Mingyu, and Jeonghan were surprisingly uncoordinated when it came to explaining themselves. So in between their babbling, Minghao's complete and utter "I'm so done" face and my general inability to explain, well, anything, Jun took charge and ushered all of us into the nurse's office.
"This is the third time in three days you've come to visit me," Seokmin said as soon as I entered the door. "I'm hoping this isn't going to become a reoccurring issue."
"Sorry, it's just that Jun over here has developed a bit of a crush and what kind of friend would I be if I didn't act as a wingman once in a while?"
Jun threw me a thoroughly disgusted look while Seokmin laughed. Minghao said nothing and sat himself in a corner while my three newest bonded looked on with suspicion.
"Hey, Seokmin, are you okay?" I asked after a minute. He looked paler than usual and he had the beginnings of dark shadows under his eyes. His hair was also a little messy, which, after knowing him only for three days, shouldn’t have struck out at me, but it really didn’t suit him.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?" There was the slightest bit of hesitation before he answered and he flashed me a smile that barely reached his eyes.
I shrugged. If he didn't want to tell me, I wasn't going to pry. "You look like you haven't been getting enough sleep lately."
"I'm fine," he repeated and I left it at that. He sighed and switched topics. "What brings you all here anyway?"
I hauled myself onto a nearby hospital bed and made myself comfortable. Experience told me I’d get to rest a while before anything was demanded of me.
“Minghao tried to kill me again,” I said nonchalantly as soon as I closed my eyes.
“Again?” Mingyu asked pointedly while Seokmin just sighed and shook his head. Mingyu's eyes zeroed in on Minghao. “This has happened before?”
“Hang on a minute,” Jeonghan came up behind his friend and placed a hand on his shoulder before he could try fighting the poor kid again. “I think we should determine who our new friend is first.”
He didn’t quite glare at Seokmin, but his gaze was nonetheless a mixture of suspicion and intimidation. I was honestly impressed by how seemingly undeterred Seokmin was by it.
“Oh, right. Sorry. I’m Seokmin,” the boy said cheerfully, extending a hand out towards Jeonghan. “And you are?”
