"That's it?" I was confused. They threaten me and Jun just to find out my name and family tree? I wasn't buying it.

"Well," Sky Dude said sharing a look with his friends, "not exactly."

All three of them moved at once. I barely managed to jump out of Sky Dude’s way before I felt someone grab my wrist and the unmistakable feeling of a bond forming filled my senses.

First came the adrenaline and the feeling of raw power raging through my veins. Next came the insatiable feeling of lust and greed. The bond that was forming was so right. The control of other supernatural beings and their submission was… perfect. It was right. It was natural. It was how the world was supposed to be.

I could feel the world at my feet. I could take it over completely. In fact, I should take it over completely. After all, it was mine. It belonged to me. It was my duty. I could feel the power within me begging to be released. It demanded my guidance, my reign, for I was its only master. And I could use it so easily. Everything was so clear and I couldn’t—

I couldn’t breathe. Something was stinging my eyes and I tried to blink it away, but opening my eyes only made it worse. I was freezing—it was so much colder than it should me—and I still couldn’t breathe. I opened my mouth to try and take a breath but instead of air, the unmistakable taste of water filled my senses.

Then, just as quickly as it began, everything stopped. My lungs contracted, trying to spit out all the water they took in, and when they finally expanded, oxygen flowed through my airways again. I blinked my eyes a couple of times before I could make out the still somewhat blurry forms of an unconscious Jun and our three new acquaintances.

I shivered. I was still cold as hell, even though the sun was out again and the weather seemed even nicer than before—if that was even possible. I was so disoriented it took me a moment to figure out what happened.

"I'm sorry about that," Water Guy told me, looking genuinely apologetic. "I wasn't going to drown you, I just needed you to snap out of your spooky Summoner state."

"W-wha-wh-what j-j-just hap-pp-pend?" My teeth were chattering so violently, it was a wonder they understood me at all. I wrapped my arms around myself, hoping to retain even the slightest bit of body heat.

"We bonded with you," Grass Guy stated matter-of-factly. "And then Mingyu kind of almost drowned you but that's really beside the point." He laughed nervously and scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
