The room was uncomfortably silent. Yeah, sure, I said we were cool, and yeah, he did save my life. But he was also half the reason it needed to be saved. And saying "we're even" wasn't enough to erase the damage of the past 24 hours. Still, like it or not, I kind of needed him. And honestly? Though I hated to admit it, I really did consider him my friend at some point. So I decided to let things back to as close to normal as possible.
"What time is it?" I asked no one in particular.
Seokmin glanced at his watch. "It's just past four."
I swore loudly. "I need to be home before dinner, otherwise mom will start to get suspicious. And I really don't need that right now." I looked at Jun. "Is the car here? Can you drive?"
“Yeah,” he responded. It sounded as if he was almost relieved. “It’s parked in the garage. I’ll take care of the paperwork to get you out of here, then go get the car and wait for you at the front?”
I smiled and nodded and Jun was on his way. Seokmin shuffled after him hesitantly but stopped a few feet away from the door. He turned back slightly and I got the impression he was struggling with something.
“You good there?” I asked him after a moment.
He jumped slightly at my words and turned to me. He opened his mouth, then closed it. Then opened it again. Then shuffled forward. Then he shook his head and faced the door, only to stop short in his tracks.
“Uh, Seokmin?” I tried again. He sighed heavily.
“I’m a healer,” he said eventually.
