Summoning the Supernatural
I woke up to find that Minghao had fallen asleep in the bed next to mine. Jun was sitting on a different bed across the room, reading, while Seokmin was sitting at the nurse's desk, typing away.
Jun was the first to notice I was awake. "Hello, sleepy head. Have a nice nap?"
"How long was I out?" I answered, still a bit groggy.
"About two hours," Seokmin answered for him, not looking away from his computer. "Classes should be done any minute."
I grumbled a couple of unintentional sounds and yawned loudly. "I should go home then," I mumbled.
"Mmmm." Came Seokmin's reply.
I practically rolled out of the bed. I could feel how messy my hair was on my head and my mouth tasted gross after falling asleep without brushing my teeth. I rubbed my eyes tiredly and hobbled over to Minghao's bed, figuring I could be a Good Samaritan this once and offer the kid a ride home.
"Hey." I shook him. Minghao frowned in his sleep, slurred a response back to me, and turned over. He didn't get up though. I tried shaking him again, harder this time. "Heyyy." Minghao waved his arms wildly at me and turned over on his side. I went to go poke his head.
The moment my skin made contact with his I felt what seemed like a giant river of adrenaline flood through me, except it was so much quicker and stronger than anything I’ve ever felt. It was impossible to describe. Everything was going so quickly but so slowly. Something that I could only describe as an ocean of pure energy formed in my chest and started to push its way out of my body in every direction.
The moment could only have lasted a second, at most. At some point throughout the experience, I had shut my eyes. But I wasn’t quite ready to open them yet. I wasn’t ready to let the feeling of balance and power abandon me yet.
“WHAT THE ACTUAL !” A loud yell tore through my sense and I snapped my eyes open to find Minghao on the opposite side of the room, glaring at me with such hatred, I was surprised lasers hadn’t started shooting out of his eyes yet.
I opened my mouth to speak, but it felt like forever before I could get any of my words out. “Wh—what just happened?” I asked a bit more breathily than usual.
