Summoning the Supernatural
I felt the blood drain from my face. Jun was apparently more observant than I originally thought because he immediately asked me what was wrong. I held the paper up for him to see.
"Okay, okay," he said and I got the feeling he was trying to calm himself down as much as I was trying to calm down myself. He started pacing. "This could mean a couple of things. Best case scenario, someone is trying to help us."
"And worst...?" I asked hesitantly. He shot me a look that clearly portrayed how little he wanted to talk about it.
Swallowing, I nodded. "Yeah. Okay. Sure. Fine. Next question. How did—," I glanced at the paper, "—whoever this is—" I waved the page around wildly, "—get into my house in the first place, let alone my room?" I questioned.
Jun stopped pacing long enough to fix me with a blank stare. "I did not think of that," he admitted.
Something stirred in the pits of my stomach. I didn't think. I grabbed my wallet and keys and rushed downstairs, with Jun hot on my heels.
"Mom!" I yelled down when I was still a quarter of the way up the stairs. "Mom! Mom!"
"What? What? What?" she asked bewilderedly when I reached the kitchen. Jun stopped short right behind me.
"Did anyone stop by while I was Rosé's?" We must've been quite a sight. Both of us were panting slightly from our sprint and I'm sure my face hadn't regained it's natural color yet.
"Only Mr. Park to fix our fireplace, why?"
I did I quick mental calculation in my head. "Uh, no reason! Jun and I will be out. I'll see you later tonight, mom," I answered before rushing to our front door.
"Wait! What about your project?" She called out to me.
I paused long enough to shout back, "we need to buy supplies!" I put my shoes on in record time, grabbed my jacket, and was in the car before Jun even made it out of the house.
There, another surprise awaited me. On the dashboard of my car rested another note written in the same loopy handwriting as the other one.
