Cultivating In You
The Curse of the Phoenix BeadsJungkook looked up when a body entered his quarters. Crown Prince Taehyung smiled at him and studied his wounded body.
“I’m glad you’re home…brother.”
Jungkook had never spoken to his older brother until now. He wasn’t really sure what to say.
“When you feel better, we can practice archery together,” Taehyung suggested and walked over to Jungkook.
“Archery?”
Jungkook looked at Taehyung and shared a smirk with him. It felt nice to have someone, a brother…
“I was told that you’re really good at wielding swords…” Taehyung stated hesitantly trying to get verification out of Jungkook.
“Of course he is,” Princess Hyeseo answered as she walked in, “He gets it from Grandfather Taemusin. You stole the other half. The King’s ability to exceed in archery.”
“Grandfather is actually really good at using his sword,” Taehyung agreed.
“Shouldn’t you be studying?” Princess Hyeseo asked.
“I’m always studying. That’s why I don’t know anything.” Taehyung retorted and Princess Hyeseo laughed. Jungkook smiled at the interaction and realized having more family was a blessing.
Jungkook stood up and both Princess Hyeseo and Crown Prince Taehyung looked at him, “May I please go see my friend?”
Jungkook entered the quarters they lent to you and noticed your clothes had been changed. Under the blanket that covered half of your body, you were now wearing a light pink dress with blue and yellow flowers stitched in silk down the collars. He had visited you every day since he awoke but you were still sound asleep lost in some long coma. He looked at your long hair that drizzled over your pillow.
Your small hands rested atop the silk blanket. Your long lashes reminded him of how you looked when you were with him at Mt. JingShen. He had treated you slightly harsh during those weeks but within time he couldn’t tell when he began to appreciate you.
His memory of your eyes when you found him wounded on the hillside made his heart flutter. He walked over and reached over to touch your face. He thought about everything that his Grandfather Mobon told him before attempting to kill him.
Jungkook reached over and touched his left chest, recollecting what Chief Medicine Jung had told him the night before. It was no wonder why when you and him were at Mt. JingShen he was never attacked. All the demons sensed the phoenix spirit within him.
Their intentions were to protect the spirit within him, even if it meant going to great lengths of illusion to lure you away. He never truly saw any of the illusions because the demons were only worried about killing you. Jungkook had put you through a lot without even realizing it.
Two weeks flew by and Jungkook didn’t stop coming to see you. He had spent some time practicing archery and playing chess games with Crown Prince Taehyung to pass time; however it didn’t help ease his thoughts of y
