It's You (Mino)

Collection of WINNER Scenarios

Scenario: Minho always pulls a surprise for you every year on your birthday, but this time he decided something different.

Note: Fluff fluffity fluff! With extra cheese. Lots and lots. You’ve been warned. (Iol i dont even know.) Inspired by a video I came across ages ago :)

“Goodness…” You sigh as you kicked off your heels, thankful that your toes hadn’t gone numb. Trailing into the kitchen, you paused as you come face to face with a rubber duck the second you open the fridge. There was a note clipped behind it, you smile like a child as you realize what’s about to come. Your name was inked on the envelope by that familiar handwriting you knew too well. What is it this time, Minho-ah?

You shook your head as you read the letter,

I know you’ve been busy with work, and I know that you must be tired but… it’s your birthday. So you get to choose, there are two other envelopes behind this one. Open the ‘no’ envelope if you don’t want a surprise, and the ‘yes’ if otherwise.

You laughed softly at his transparency, which to be honest you didn’t blame him for. There was always something every year, but you could never pin point what it exactly was. You told Minho that he didn’t have to do any of this, but he insisted anyway. He would proceed to ramble on something about making up for the times he couldn’t be with you and what not.

Picking up the letters, you leaned against the kitchen counter as you opened the envelope,

I knew it. I knew you’ll say no. Get dressed into something comfortable anyway, mind you it’s cold out. There’s a car outside waiting for you. Don’t bother opening the other envelope, I wrote the same thing. I’ll see you soon :)

You ran your fingers through your hair, closing your eyes as you smiled, of course you wrote the same thing, you idiot. He had underlined the word comfortable so hard, it was the first thing you saw. It wasn’t that often the two of you could go out and have a proper date but when you did, you wanted to look at least presentable. “Where are you?” “At home… I- I don’t know what to wear.” “Anything will do, please. It doesn’t matter.”

Trading your skirt with a pair of jeans, you threw on a thick coat and stuffed your feet into your sneakers deciding that it’s too cold to think of anything else to wear. It was too late to even have dinner somewhere fancy, right? Dismissing the thought, you hurried downstairs where you saw a car waiting for you by the entrance.

“Thank you.” You breathed, bowing slightly to the driver as you closed the car door behind. “Bless you sir, it’s quite a long drive.” You smiled at him, as he waved goodbye, shaking his head, it really wasn’t, enjoy your evening!

You jogged in place as you looked at the building behind you. It was a planetarium, you could feel your stomach fizzle with excitement at the sight. Out of anything that Minho could be jealous of, is your love for the night sky. Countless times he had found you in the balcony, fast asleep with a book on your lap, or your laptop, or even your dinner. The two of you could spend hours, until the crack of dawn, absorbed in a conversation on that very spot. Sometimes not a single word was uttered, as you looked up towards the sky, “It’s really pretty, isn’t it?” You breathed, breaking the silence. “It is.” He’d say your way, staring at an entirely different sky.

Stuffing your hands into the pockets of your coat, you walked towards the entrance, eyes alert. Minho was no where in sight, you wandered around anxiously having no clue what on earth he’s got planned. Did something come up? Your better be here, Song Minho.

“Hey.” You hear his voice, deep and low, inches from your ears. Startled, your heart felt like it dropped to your feet as you feel his arms snake around your waist. “What’s your name, pretty face?” You feel his chin hooked on the curve of your shoulder.

“You’re awfully close for someone who doesn’t know my name.” You scoff, turning around to nudge him away.  The sound of his laugh consumes you, and you can’t help but laugh along, stand on your toes and wrap your arms around his neck.

“I’ve missed you.” He mumbles into the crown of your head, feeling his firm hands on the nape of your neck. You nod in response, your heart skipping beats.

“You don’t have to do this-”

“Shh. Come here.” He squeezes your cheeks together, cutting you off. Pulling you by the wrist, he guides you upstairs to a vast floor that consists of an outdoor area, lined with microscopes. Fancy.

He runs towards a corner, so excited you forgot how exhausted you were. Minho grabbed you by the shoulders, positioning you behind a microscope.

“Go on, have a look.” He points towards the equipment, grinning so wide his cheeks flushed.

“You didn’t write my name with the stars, did you?” You joked, a smile escaping your lips as you looked into the eyepiece, careful not to move it.

“Something like that.” Minho breathed next to you, eyes wide, stunned at how accurate you were, - is this girl even real?

“This- This is stunning.” You gasped, completely lost for words. You didn’t think that it was possible for the sky to glitter this way, is this how it really is up close? Amazed at how light and dark could even coexist in such a way, you were sure that this was the second best thing that took your breath away.

“You see that one there? It’s hard to miss since it’s the brightest.“ He whispers, you feel his hand on your shoulders. You hummed quietly, assuring him that you see it perfectly clear. “Well… it’s named after you.”

“And I’m running for presidency.” You snorted. “Did you forget your head somewhere, Minho-ah?” Pulling you eyes away to look at him. The smile on your face ceased as you see him look at you that way.

“It’s true. I know it’s absurd, but you can actually do that.” He bit his lips, struggling to make eye contact. You blinked at him, confused. “Hey- I’m serious. I know that’s hard to believe as well but-” He digs his hands into the pocket of jeans, pulling out his phone to show you something. “You get an official document and all, but it’s not here yet. So, they sent me this confirmation.” Still fazed, you looked up at him.

“Say something?” He fidgets, rubbing the back of his neck.

“You’re super serious aren’t you-” You whispered, eyes wide. He gives you a soft nod, and you pursed your lips fighting a laugh. “You really are something, Song Minho.” Crossing your arms as you rub your forehead, you weren’t sure how to react. “This is by far-”

“I wanted to get you something that you wouldn’t lose.” He laughs, teasing your limited memory span.

“Thank you… I don’t know what to say, honestly.” You let out a small smile.

“You don’t have to. Let’s get you inside, hm?” He grabs your hands, realizing that you’ve been shaking from the cold but were too surprised to actually feel it.

Minho couldn’t help but smile seeing you caught so off guard, you were unusually quiet as the two of you walked into the main theater.

“I’m sorry, that was too much was it?” He pulls you closer by your waist. You shook your head, mumbling no. He chuckles, kissing the top of your head. “Actually, that wasn’t the only thing.” You stopped to look up at him, you’re crazy. “Hey- cut me some slack, it’s not like I do this everyday!” He bursts, amused as he reads your expression. “Just- stay here for a moment.” For the second time tonight, he positions you right in the center of the domed hall.

“Hey- where are you-”

“I’ll be back!” You see him run off somewhere towards a corner, out of sight. Tucking your hair behind your ears, you stood there realizing that no one else was there. He couldn’t have possibly rented this whole place? You laughed at the thought, slapping yourself mentally, unsure if you’re even awake. You looked up to see the lights have dimmed, and once again the stars were projected around the walls. It spun blissfully, your eyes fixed, following its direction as it drifted across the entire place. You stopped at a screen that had appeared, realizing that it’s a video of some sort. Minho appears on the screen, it was a recording of himself. His face filled the entire frame, you laughed seeing him this close, his eyes wide, his lips disappearing slightly as he puckered making sure that it was actually recording. How is this dork mine? The video switches to the main camera view and your heart drops as you realize where he was.

“Hey… I know that this is hard for you, but I needed to do this.” You hear his voice low, as he walked through the memorial park. “So… Here I am.” Minho sighs, as he stops in front of two headstones you know so well. You felt your chest burn, finding it hard to breathe. “I’m sorry, you’re probably thinking why I’m here out of all places…” You see him kneel down beside where your parents were laid to rest, one arm out to get himself into the frame. “But, I think out of anyone else I think I owe your parents the most. This is the least I could do.” Your eyes sting as the tears build up around the corner of your lids. He must have taken this ages ago, his hair was longer then, wondering how long he’d kept this from you.

“Remember that time you told me the things your dad said if you were to find someone you wanted to spend your life with?” You rasped for air as you hear him ask this question, your knees felt weak. “I don’t know if she ever talked about me sir, but I’m Minho-” Tears rolled down your cheeks as you blinked, smiling at the screen before you. Of course I have, Minho-ah. Long before we were even together.

“-Song Minho. I think we’d get along so great.” He laughs softly, facing the camera to give you a thumbs up. You couldn’t help but laugh, amazed how he has the ability to make you feel so many things all in one go. “I know I can never be the man you were to her, but I’ll try the rest of my life to be one.” The lump in your throat burned, and you cried silently, your hands over your mouth. “I’m in love with her. It’s crazy, I know this because seeing her laugh makes me realize how there’s so much more to life than it actually is.” He’d stop looking into the camera then, pinching the bridge of his nose as he looked down. Your chest hurt, struggling to keep it together. “I promise to love and care for her- I’ll spend the rest of my life just to make her happy. And if it’s okay… I’m here to ask you for her hand in marriage.” You lost it then, seeing him bow to both of your parents.

“Minho… where are you- please-” Your voice cracked as you whispered, heavy eyes squinting through the lights. In an instant, you feel him pull you into his embrace, Baby, I’m here, I’m sorry. The vein in his neck visible as he clenched his jaw. You cried into his chest, as he brushed your hair away.

After a while, he tilts down to look at you. You sniffed as you looked away, not wanting to stain his shirt than it already was. “I’m pretty sure they said yes.” He laughs quietly, your cheeks. You looked at him then, sure that you’ve forgotten how to speak. “Stop…” He whispers, pulling you in to kiss your tired eyelids.

“I should’ve just rapped it out to you, didn’t I?” He was relieved to hear you laugh softly then. “So… That’s a yes?” You shifted to face him and smiled so wide, he didn’t need to repeat himself.
