Of Airplanes, Lists and Break-ups

Chapter 63

Jongdae felt like he could explode.
Of all people in the world, why did he have to fall in love with the guy he had hated since the beginning of time?

'Luhan.'

Jongdae shuddered as he sat alone in his room December 24.
His family didn't celebrate Christmas so this was just another evening of doing nothing. Well lately he had been doing Luhan but since the impromptu kiss that didn't include a round of mattress workout, Jongdae had stayed away from the blond devil's cage, which he now could enter on will  because Luhan had given him his ing house key.
What. The ?!
Their little arrangement had been to just .
That's it!
No emotions.
Whatsoever!
It had even been his own rule and it hadn't worried him one bit because come on, Jongdae had never thought he could actually say even one good thing about Luhan.

'And it had even gone so well until now.'

Okay that was a lie.
They had fought constantly. At least he had.
Mostly it was just Jongdae hating on Luhan. Let's just say he held a grudge against the blond fiend. Before him, Jongdae hadn't known of those bloody stars that blinded him whenever Luhan made him reach his . And now, now he was addicted to that high.
All because of Luhan.
Damn him!

Of course it didn't help that they hadn't done it in four days now and Jongdae was suffering real bad. He wanted to call Luhan. Heck he would even go to his place right now if it hadn't been for those stupid feelings!
Jongdae wasn't sure when they had started emerging. Somewhere between bed-sheets and golden hair.
Maybe it was the way Luhan told small stories from his life when they were in bed, all content and sweaty.
Or maybe it was the way he touched Jongdae.
The passionate look in his eyes.
His possessiveness.
His...

Jongdae sighed as he plopped down on his bed.
Closing his eyes he let his hand wander downstairs.
Jongdae had never cared much for touching himself. Call him a prude but it had just never said him anything.
But desperate times called for desperate needs, he thought as he rubbed himself through his jeans. Impatiently he removed his belt, ped his jeans and released his growing .
Jongdae pretended it was Luhan touching him as memories of them together played in his mind.
Rubbing harder and faster Jongdae's breath quickened.
He was so close he didn't hear his bedroom door open.

"Starting without me? Tsk tsk. Patience is a virtue Jongdae."

Startled, Jongdae came all over his own hand and stomach while none other than the last person he wanted to see was standing in his doorway.

"And you even finished without me. Can't say I'm not disappointed."
"Get out!"

Luhan moved to stand by his bedside, reaching out for a tissue on the nightstand.

"Why haven't you answered any of my messages? I've left you like 10." The blond boy then proceeded to wipe of the come staining Jongdae's skin.

Too exhausted to fight Luhan off, Jongdae closed his eyes, wishing himself far, far away.

"I've been busy."
"Yeah right. If you have time to play with yourself, you have time to play with me."
"I wasn't... Who let you in?!"
"Your mom. She wasn't happy to but I can be very convincing, as you might already know."

Jongdae opened his eyes trying to cover up his ness with his blanket. That's when he noticed Luhan's hand resting very, very close to his now soft scrotum.

"You're wearing the wristlet?"
"Never took it off."
"Why?"
"Call me sentimental but this is the first gift I ever received from screwing someone."
"Really? Haven't you been with like a hundred?"
"I'm really not that much of a Jongdae."
"...I'm right. Aren't I?"
"... 62."
"Oh my God. You actually counted how many you've slept with?"
"Well, along the way it became sort of a sport..."
"You're a pig. So who's 62?
"What does it matter to you?"
"It doesn't. I'm just curious how many you've ed while we've been fooling around."

Luhan sat down on the bed.

"Let's see. 62... 62... Ah yes. It was this really uptight prude of a guy. Kinda weird. Annoying as hell but it was either him or going home alone."
"You're awful."
"That's me."
"Was he at least any good?" Jongdae didn't really want to know but he couldn't help but ask. Call it a pride thing but Jongdae wanted to know if he was better than this '62'.

"Not so much in the beginning. A bit sloppy but a great kisser. Which is surprising because he had only like made out with one guy before me."
"What a loser."
"I'll say. Biggest loser I ever met. It's just... all of a sudden he started growing on me."
"...Oh?"
"I don't know what happened. Somehow he managed to make me feel... Something."
"You're not here to..." Jongdae scoffed trying not to sound worried in any way.
"...'Break up' with me?"
"Yes."
Was it weird that Jongdae suddenly felt like he could throw up?

"O-okay... I'm happy for you. That's good. Getting over Minseok couldn't have been easy."
"Actually it was much easier than I had expected. I was lucky to find someone even better."

That stung a little.

"So are you together now?"
"Not yet but I'm planning on doing something about that real soon. I'm just not sure if he wants me."
"Won't know until you try... Right?"
"Right. I should just go for it then."
"Yeah..." Jongdae swallowed, trying to smile. "Sure. Go for it."
"I will."

Luhan got up and headed for the door.
Turning around, Luhan threw something at Jongdae.
It was a wristband. The same kind he had bought for Luhan, only instead of a deer pendant, this one had a... Tyrannosaurus Rex?

"Go out with me?"

A what now?

"Excuse me?"
"You heard. Go out with me."
"What about no. 62?"
"You really are the daftest person in the world."

Luhan leaned up against the door, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"You're my lucky no. 62 Jongdae. And right now I'd like to stay at that number. If you'll have me."
"Oh." Jongdae fidgeted with the wristlet. Did Luhan actually like him back?
"Luhan.. I... Hey! I am not a loser! And I do not look like a dinosaur! Jerk-face!"
"You said that yourself. Those were your words Jongdae. Your words. I just didn't disagree."
"That's..."
"Would you just get dressed and come with me? Please?"
"... Can I at least shower?"
"I'd be insulted if you didn't."
"... Wanna join me?"

Luhan poked the floor with his foot, smiling almost shyly.

"Not this time. As I said. I'm here to break our agreement of just . This time I would like to take you out for dinner. Get to know you and treat you like a date should be treated."

Luhan grabbed the door handle.

"I'll let you get ready. When you're done call my cell and I'll come pick you up."
Then he was gone.

Jongdae took a deep breath as he finished getting dressed.
This was his first date.
What the hell did one wear on a date?!

Would a T-shirt be too casual?
A shirt too formal?
Dress pants or jeans?
Cologne?
Should he shave again?

In the end he settled for  black jeans and a black T-shirt topped up with a red woolen cardigan.
Fidgeting with his phone for 5 minutes, Jongdae finally took courage, dialing Luhan's number. He knew this was a bad idea but something inside him made it impossible for him to refuse this opportunity.

Luhan did indeed pick him up, looking quite flashy. The jacket was glittery silver and covered in rhinestones.
Suddenly Jongdae felt really underdressed.

Together they walked in silence Christmas eve when they came to a somewhat fancy looking restaurant.

"In here." Luhan took Jongdae's hand and led him through the glass door.

"Hello. I have a reservation for two under the name Kim Joonmyun."

The waiter looked through a black leather-bound book before grabbing a few menus, smiling overly politely.

"Very good Mr. Kim. If you'll follow me."

Jongdae couldn't help but scoff as he whispered to Luhan.

"Joonmyun? Nice."
"What can I say. His name opens doors. As does his credit card."

Luhan waved the card in front of Jongdae's nose.

"You stole his card?"
"Nope. He practically threw it at me when I told him I wanted to take you out."
"...He did?"
"Are you okay? You look kinda bumped out."
"I just feel bad. I stopped being his best friend for Minseok... And he is still such a good guy after everything that's happened..."
"You're not in love with the guy or anything are you? Because that might put a damper on the evening."
"I just miss him, that's all-Ouch! Sorry miss."

The waiter had lead them through the  maze of tables when Jongdae had bumped into someone's chair.

"Luhan? Jongdae?"

Both males turned towards the all too familiar boyish voice coming from a neighboring table.

"Minseokie?"
"Hyung?"

Dressed  in a white shirt and dark grey pants, Minseok sat, staring at them both with confusion in his eyes. Opposite him sat a beautiful woman in a red slinky dress. But it wasn't the plunging dress that caught Jongdae's attention. No. It was the fact that she was blond, had blue eyes and if you hadn't already guessed, not Asian.

"What are you guys doing here?" Minseok pushed out his chair and walked towards them.
"We're just..."

Luhan grabbed Jongdae's hand, squeezing it a little too hard.

"We're on a date."
"You're what?"
"We're here. On a date. Want me to spell it out for you?"
"Date? But I thought... 'Over my dead body'. Wasn't that what you said, Jongdae?"

He might have said something very close to that when Minseok had showed up at his parents' house the day after TCA's Christmas dinner.

"We're just sleeping together, hyung. That's all."
"Is that so?"
"Yeah. Don't get the wrong idea here. I mean. It's Luhan. Luhan. I... Hate.. the guy."
"Then why are you fooling around with him? You do realize he's just using you."
"I'm using
him... Why shouldn't he do the same?"
"I don't know? He's just different somehow."
"You mean he doesn't chase after you anymore. Miss the attention?"
Minseok crossed his arms, sitting down on Jongdae's bed.
"No. I'm relieved. It was so tiresome and annoying and..."
"You are
so missing it. Don't even try and deny it."
"... I'm just worried about you. Luhan can be really charming..."
"I'm not going to fall in love with him, hyung. It's just ."
"Can't you have with someone else?"
"Are you volunteering?"
"Jongdae."
Jongdae leaned back, sighing.
"He gave me his key."
"To his heart?!"
"To his apartment. Chill hyung."
"Sorry. Wait that's still bad!"
"Why is it so bad? It's... Convenient. I sleep over most of the time anyway."
"He's just using you to get over me. Can't you see that?"
"Why do you care? And why are we even having this discussion? It's not like Luhan and I are dating or anything. I'd die before I'd let that happen so can we please just drop it?"

"Erh.."
"Jongdae is here with me of his free will. Minseok. And speaking of date, aren't you going to introduce yours?"
"Who?"

Luhan gestured to the lady in red.

"Oh! Right of course. This is...Ahm..."
"Sarah..."
"Sarah! Sorry. Sarah and these are my good friends, Luhan and Jongdae."

The woman nodded towards them, smiling warmly.

"It's very nice meeting you."

"I'm sorry Mr. Kim but your table?"

The waiter impatiently gestured for them to move when Minseok's girlfriend spoke up again.

"Actually, we haven't ordered yet. Why don't you join us at our table?
"No!" All three guys said at the same time.
"...I insist. This is the first time Minnie here has introduced me to any of his friends. So please. It'll be my treat."
"Minnie?!"
"Guess it couldn't hurt." Jongdae felt like laughing at the disbelieving expression on Luhan's face.

Dinner progressed.
Jongdae learned that Sarah was a very sweet woman and very charismatic. He could definitely see the appeal.

"So you're from Scandinavia?"
"Yes. Sweden to be exact."
"But your Korean is really good."
"That's because I've lived here since I was 13. My mom married a Korean man after my father died. Lived here ever since."
"I'm so sorry."
"It's okay. I love it here. Plus the guys are so cute."

The woman proceeded to squish Minseok's cheek making the small male whine in protest. Jongdae had never seen his hyung this happy before. It was a nice change.
Halfway through dinner Sarah's cell-phone rang. With an apologetic look she took the call, leaving the table.

"She's lovely hyung. You two would have really adorable kids."

Minseok almost choked on his wine.

"That's...It's a little early to be thinking of babies and stuff, don't you think?"
"Why? She's almost 28?"
"Yeah? But I'm only 23. There's no way I'm ready to have kids."
Luhan scoffed as he took a bite of his steak.
"Should have thought about that before dating an old hag."
First time Luhan opens his mouth during dinner and it's an insult. Of course.

"I'm sorry but... old hag? She is beautiful. And intelligent. Not to mention incredibly successful. Just because you don't swing that way, doesn't give you the right to offend my girlfriend."
"Minseokie, sweetheart. This "relationship" ain't gonna last. She is going to leave you. Trust me. Best to break it off now before it gets too serious."

Luhan returned to his meal, focusing his gaze on the rare meat when Sarah reappeared looking troubled.

"Work call. Sorry about that." Grabbing her coat and purse she went to stand next to Minseok's chair.

"I have to leave. Someone messed up the orders for the next few weeks and I have to take care of it before it blows out of proportion. I'm sorry Minnie. I'll make it up to you later?" She leaned down to kiss his cheek before giving a small bow to Jongdae and Luhan.

"It was very nice meeting you both. Dinner is on me so feel free to order anything you want. Here's my card Minnie. I'll call you later. Bye."

A minute passed in silence as they watched her walk away.

"10 bucks she is sleeping with someone not you tonight." Luhan put down his cutlery to flag down a waiter.

"Yes hi. I'd like three bottles of Dom Perginon, a plate of oysters and three servings of your most expensive dessert, please."
"What? No. I'm sorry but we are not ordering that." Minseok shook his hands in front of the waiters face.
"Fine. Just one bottle of the champagne but the rest stays. Dismissed."
"Very good sir."

The waiter left while Minseok starred Luhan down.

"I can't let her pay for that."
"Why not? Might as well take advantage of her card while you still can because that woman is eating her dessert in bed tonight. And by dessert I mean a big hunky guy."
"She would never do that. She loves me."
"Whatever you say. But when it does happen, I'll be the guy with the rainbow colored flag chanting 'I told you so'."

Jongdae took hold of Luhan's wrist.

"Would you stop it? Hyung, Sarah is not going to cheat on you. And Luhan, stop being a and at least pretend to be happy for Minseok."

Silence took over the table when finally their bottle of Dom arrived along with oysters and what appeared to be molten chocolate lava cake.

"...Oysters are actually an aphrodisiac, so maybe I shouldn't eat any of those now that we're on a date huh, Luhan?"

A nervous laughter escaped Jongdae's lips. They were still on a date right? Although it was very difficult to distinguish the third wheel.

"Right. You are on a date." Minseok took his champagne glass, emptying it in one go.
"You probably want to be left alone so let me just finish my dessert and I'll be out of your hair."
"Noo." Jongdae put his hand on his hyung's shoulder.
"Please stay. Right Luhan?"

Luhan let out a long sigh.

"Yes. Do stay. 'Minnie'."
-
"I got to go to the little men's room. See you in the lob.. hic.. lobby?"
Jongdae swayed on unsteady feet towards the bathrooms.
Tonight had been... interesting. Meeting Sarah and all and then the awkwardness that followed her leaving. At least when the bottle had been popped and the alcohol levels increased, the mood had seemed to change to something a little brighter. After the fourth bottle of expensive champagne, there had been nothing but laughter at their table.
Jongdae was slightly influenced as he walked into a stall without locking the door. Inside he giggled at the sight of his wee-wee as he tried to hit the toilet bowl and not the floor or his shoes.
Somehow he even remembered to wash his hands before leaving the bathroom but when Jongdae had stumbled into the lobby, his friends were nowhere to be seen.

"Deer boy? Hyung?"

Jongdae span around himself a few times before exiting the restaurant. Maybe they were waiting outside with a cab. Uh or a pony!
"Giddy up!" Jongdae shouted as he stumbled out into the cold, squinting for any sign of blond hair or  mammals.
Finding neither he started walking down the street. Passing an alley he noticed two shadows embracing. Feeling a little embarrassed about seeing a strange couple making out Jongdae quickly moved on.
... Only something made him come to a halt. Something... sparkly.
Walking back his heart fell to his stomach as he recognized the glitter jacket but also the people.  His hyung Minseok was pushed up against the stone wall with Luhan attached to his lips.
Jongdae couldn't breathe. He just stood and watched the unbelievable scene taking place in front of him when Luhan noticed his presence. Quickly he let go of Minseok, hurrying towards Jongdae as he himself turned to run away.

"Jongdae! This is not what it looks li.."
"Just leave me the hell alone Luhan!"

Jongdae ran as fast as he could until he reached the safety of his home. All the while cursing himself for falling in love with the devil.
