Author's Note: This has taken me so long D: I hope you enjoy and sorry that there's not much baking together
It was coming up to Daehyun's birthday and this year, I decided that I’d do something a little more special. Problem was that I had no idea
what to do. I had asked the other members of B.A.P for help planning the party for him, but something was still missing. Cheesecake.
Daehyun's other love besides me, though I wasn't really jealous (much). I bumped into Youngjae, smacking my forehead against his chest.
I rubbed my head and muttered an apology to him. "Ready to go?" He asked, flashing me a smile. I nodded and moved forward to follow him.
I felt a tug on my wrist as I was pulled back from him and towards someone else. I looked up at the person. "Where are you going?" Daehyun
asked, aware of our strange behaviour. His arms wrapped around my waist protectively as he buried his face in the crook of my neck.
“Youngjae is teaching me a song.” I lied, directing my gaze towards Youngjae.
Daehyun pouted. “But I’m a vocalist too, I could teach you a song if you want.”
I turned my neck so that I was looking at him. “Yeah, but if you taught me, you’d distract me.”
“Do you blame me?” he rested his chin on my shoulder.
“I never knew I was your vocal coach.” Youngjae commented, crossing his arms over his chest.
I frowned. “Well I couldn’t give the surprise away, could I?” I picked up a box of decorations.
“Careful. That box is heavy.” Yongguk warned, quickly taking the box from my hands.
I put my hands on my hips. “I was managing just fine.” I pouted. “I can’t let you do all the work.”
“Then you can help make some food for the party with me.” Himchan offered, poking his head out from the kitchen, a grin on his face.
I groaned, but dragged my feet over to the kitchen anyway. I was a horrible cook. How was I supposed to make food for the party
that was actually edible? I smiled nervously at Himchan, hoping that he would be able to help me in some way.
“Just so you know,” he spoke up as I was chopping vegetables. “We didn’t buy any cheesecake.”
I frowned. Daehyun’s birthday without cheesecake? That’s like Christmas with no presents.
“We can make one…” I suggested nervously. I honestly had no idea how to make a cheesecake.
“Well good thing then I already searched for recipes!” Junhong burst into the kitchen.
“Hi noona. Good luck with the cheesecake.” He handed over a few pages with different recipes.
“Oh! This recipe sounds fun.” I pointed to one of the recipes, showing it to Himchan.
It wasn’t that fun.
I pulled a face as I tasted a little bit of our ‘test’ cheesecake. “It’s too sour. I think I added too much lemon.” Himchan tasted it and
pulled the same face. He nodded in agreement. We stared at each other and burst out laughing. I wasn’t doing such a good job of baking.
“Let’s tone down the lemon, okay?” Himchan teased, throwing the cheesecake I had just made into the bin.
I shook my head again. “Too much sugar.” I sighed. “Why can’t I get it right?”
I pouted, looking at the picture of how it should look and how it actually looked, feeling disappointed. “I have an idea.” Himchan announced.
“Why don’t you practice while Daehyun has vocal lessons, or when we go off to practice? Or even better, both.” I nodded.
“It’s the only thing I can do. I still think maybe I should just buy one instead.” I threw the new cheesecake away.
There had to be something I was doing wrong, but what?
Daehyun was busy with vocal lessons today, so I took the opportunity to practice baking cheesecake.
This time, I chose one of the easier recipes to try and perfect (or at least make edible).
Blend the biscuits, add the butter, bake the base… It was going ok, or at least I thought it was so far.
Now what did I do? Oh, that’s right! I have to add sugar and blueberries to a bowl, and then add cornflower and water. Okay, you can do
this Tanya! I heated the bowl until the sugar dissolved, like the recipe told me to, and set myself to work on the cream cheese. Pour the
mixture onto the base, pour blueberry sauce on, pour more mixture, pour more sauce. I baked the cheesecake as it told me to, and
looked at the time. I hope Daehyun doesn’t come home early to see this mess. I kept watching the clock as minutes passed by. It had been
two hours since Daehyun had left when I heard the front door being unlocked. I tried to scramble to the fridge before he came in, but due
to my clumsiness, I dropped the cheesec
