Merry Christmas everyone
I sighed, resting my head on the sofa cushion. My phone ringed for the hundredth time in the last hour, but I just ignored it. Meanwhile, Soyul and
Jiyoon were busy decorating my house with festive decorations. Soyul reached for my phone. “Stop ignoring Sanghyuk, he’s only trying to be nice.”
I groaned. “I don’t want to talk to any of his friends. I want a normal year thank you very much.”
“Ya!” Soyul smacked my shoulder. “Stop being such a brat and talk to him. You were close friends.”
I scoffed. “Yeah, so were me and Taekwoon, look where we are now.” Soyul rolled her eyes and went back to helping Jiyoon decorate.
“What’s all this? Why can’t I just have a stupid tree?” Jiyoon rearranged the candles on my windowsill.
There were red ones, gold ones and even some chocolate scented ones. “Because it’s Christmas. Go all out. Have fun, miss scrooge.”
Soyul called Jiyoon over to help her put up a new pair of curtains. “But I don’t need new curtains.”
Jiyoon whispered something to Soyul, who was pinning up a holly wreath on the inside of the front door.
She passed various other decorations, including lanterns, fake presents and some bells.
“How did you even afford all of this anyway? You didn’t beg for money from your parents, did you?”
“Relax, half of this is old stuff from my place.” Jiyoon explained, unpacking the tree from its box.
“I don’t even like Christmas…” I muttered to myself grumpily.
Our unfinished stories, stories that are piled up like snow.
I rubbed my hands together, shivering beneath my coat. I sat underneath a hanging flower basket. The flowers were as good as dead since it
was almost winter. I heard the shuffling of shoes on ground, and looked up to see Taekwoon in a black coat, staring at me silently.
His hair blew in the soft breeze, bringing a smile to my face. I stood up, ready to greet him. “Jagiya!” he didn’t smile,
but I was used to that, however, his eyes focused on the floor rather than me. “What’s wrong?”
A single tear slipped from his eyes. I stared at him, unable to say a word. He gulped. “Us.”
His voice trembled, his lips shaking. “You don’t mean that. Come on.” I pulled on his hand.
Taekwoon pulled his hand away. “I told you. We’re over. Why are you being difficult?” he mumbled.
I scoffed. “Why are you acting so weird? Do you think I can’t tell, huh? You don’t want to break up.”
Taekwoon grabbed my shoulders, staring deeply into my eyes. His eye twitched slightly.
“We’re done, we’re over. I don’t want to date you anymore.” I blinked in surprise.
“But we-it’s Christmas soon. You can’t say goodbye. No! I won’t have it.” My lip trembled.
His expression softened. “I cared about you, Sulli, but all things come to an end. I had the time of my life. Goodbye.”
Taekwoon took a deep breath and planted a kiss on my forehead. He turned away. “What’s the real reason? I’m not dumb.”
I called out. Say this isn’t real. Taekwoon sighed, lowering his head. “It is something that I must do. Good luck, Sulli.”
Good luck, Taekwoon.
It’s so cold again today. It’s already been two months since you left.
Why did you leave in this cold winter? Come back to my side.
I picked up a cute figurine of a reindeer, smiling sadly. Taekwoon always loved animals. He loved feeding reindeers at Christmas time.
I stared at a shaver, sitting beside the reindeer. Sanghyuk is now an adult. I think this is fitting for him. I should buy the others a present too.
I dialled Sanghyuk’s number and hoped he would answer. “Sulli, is that you?” I grinned to myself.
“I think you’re forgetting the formalities young man.” I joked. He laughed.
“Sorry noona. I just missed you so much. We all have.” I laughed to myself, shaking my head.
“I doubt it. You’ve probably been living it up while I’ve been away.”
“Do I get a present for Christmas?” I picked up the shaver and threw it in the basket.
“I was never good at picking presents but yes, I will buy you one. I’ll buy you all one.”
“Did you hear that guys?” he called out. “Is that Sulli noona?” I heard Jaehwan cheer.
“We’re in luck hyungs. She’s g
