Upon turning the corner , you barely caught a glimpse of him again as he took another turn . After what seemed like forever , he finally entered a room . You frowned a bit , curious as to why he was in the hospital in the first place . Letting your curiosity get the better of you , you continued to advanced towards the room that was emittign light .

The closer you got to the door , the quieter your footsteps became . Your heart was pumping hard against your chest and you nervously swallowed . You didn't know why you were so curious as to why Kai was in here , and why you wanted to know . At last , you arrived at the doorframe . Carefully , you peered your head in .

You couldn't see much , since there was the risk of being caught , but what you could make out was Kai's back . He was standing , hands in his pocket , slightly slouched . He gave off that strange aura that made him look so attracting . You realized what you had just thought and shook your head to get rid of the thought .

What am I thinking ?

Focused , you looked back in , a bit closer . This time , you could see that Kai was standing in front of a white hospital bed . Then suddenly , you heard him laugh .

You could see the side of his face as he turned his head left and right . You had to admit he looked pretty genuine and real like this . You were shocked he actually had this kind of side to him , when all you've seen and heard of him so far were bad rumors .

You found yourself smiling a bit , but quickly regained your focus when you heard the occupant of the bed say something in a light and soft voice .

"Oppa , I've missed you . It's been a long time since I've seen you again ."

"I know , Sumin . I'm sorry . I've been busy lately ."

"How long has it been since you've seen umma and appa ?"

Kai gently raised his finger to graze his eleven year old sister's cheek . It felt soft under his skin , and he breathed in a deep breath . She was right . It had been at least six months since he last saw Sumin , and he's felt so guilty . There wasn't a day where she wasn't on his mind , but he couldn't risk coming to the hospital as often .

He had a job . It was a risky duty , being in EXO K , he's constantly being wrapped around his boss's little chubby finger , but , it was the only way he could afford Sumin's hospital bills . As much as he hated it , he needed this gang in order for his sister to survive . It was a good thing she was still young . She didn't ask where his money came from , and was satisfied with his answers . She was innocent . And Kai wanted to keep it that way for as long as possible , if not , forever . 

"Since the last time you saw them , Sumin .." Kai softly whispered , tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear .

"Mwoh ? But it's been almost two years ." Sumin lightly frowned .

"I know , I know . I'm sure they're just busy overseas . We'll see them again soon , don't worry about it . They're working hard , don't you think ? One day we'll be together again , trust me ."

"Jongjin oppa ... do you think they love us ? Do you think umma and appa still love us ?"

You frowned at the name . Jongjin..? 

"Sumin , don't even think about that possibility . Of course they love us . I know they're not around to show it often . Trust me , I know they do . Promise me you won't think about something like this again . They're just busy . It's nothing more , okay ? Don't talk about it right now , I'm here . Shouldn't your attention be focused on your favourite oppa ?"

Kai did a cheeky grin and Sumin laughed , her laugh sounding like chiming bells on a wedding day .

"Oppa .. you're my only one ! Of course you'd be my favourite ."

Kai frowned . "So .. that means , if you had another oppa , I wouldn't be your favourite then?" He gave small smirk and started advancing towards Sumin , hands and fingers raised up , ready to tickle her . Sumin raised her eyebrows and started sliding near the head of the bed . "Ani ! Don't tickle me !!" She giggled .

"TOO LATE !" Kai threw himself at her and started tickling her sides . She gave a loud shrill and started laughing hard , but Kai didn't stop . He just continued to tickle her for a good two minutes until he finally stopped , Sumin completely out of breath .

"Jongjin oppa . Did you know that it's umma's birthday tomorrow ?"

".... Yeah ."  

"Are you going to buy her anything ?"

".... Uh , yeah I will ."

"Can you tell her it's from me too then ? I ... I really can't afford anything to buy for her , and I feel really bad . I mean , you don't have to put my name either if you don't want to but .." She looked down and bit her lip a bit .

You noticed Kai's tone had turned a bit dark when he began to talk about his parents . You could tell it wasn't something he was comfortable talking with . You saw Kai lean down and kiss his sister's forehead before softly whispering a good bye . You couldn't help but soften a bit at the scene before you . It was .. almost refreshing to see this side of Kai . You knew at least he had a soft spot for someone , like you did for your father . He started heading towards the door .

Shoot .

As quietly as you could , you dashed out of the hallway into a nearby one , and stood there with your back facing , breathing hard . When you were a hundred percenet sure that Kai had left , you made way towards the room he was in before .

You checked first to see if Sumin was sleeping , and slowly walked towards her bed . She looked peaceful , with a happy smile on her face as she slowly snoozed away . There was an IV drip on her arm , and although she looked quite content , you couldn't help but notice how pale and skinny she really was .

Kai's sister .. I never heard anything about that before . Does anybody else know about this either ?

You softly ruffled her hair and gave a small smile . The entire time , Kai had his eyes on you , and he wasn't happy about it at all .
