4 ♥ Heart Stopper

Hearts are Made to be Broken
"Let's break up," she spoke the words that I never thought would come from her. She pulled her hand from mine with sad eyes, "We're not meant to be together."

I had a bad feeling about it already since last week. She refused to go out on date with me. She didn't reply my text messages the way she always did. We rarely talked about everything now.

It's almost our first anniversary but this was what she chose to tell me. My heart ached really bad because I knew this was our last date.

"We can talk about it, right?" I tried my best to keep myself calm. "Tell me and we can try to solve it. Isn't it what we always do?"

She shook her head weakly and a tear escaped her eyes, "I'm tired of our distance. I don't feel that I'm your girlfriend anymore. You're busy with your own life and I'm busy with mine."

"It's better if we go our own way," she ended her explanation and bowed to me. "Thank you for everything, Oppa. I'm sorry but this is for our own good. You can understand me, right?"

I couldn't believe that silly reason became the reason why she wanted to break up with me. I thought we would be together till the end after all things we had been through.

We worked together in the student organization and I fell for her cute and cheerful attitude. I still remembered that she accepted my feeling when I confessed to her on my birthday one year ago.

Our distance started to grow after I graduated. I was working as a vocal trainer and I spent most of my times to work instead of having time with my own girlfriend.

I knew that it's not a good choice but I though she could understand. My passion for music was great and she should have known it since we're together.

Guess I was wrong.

"You'll be alright, Sunggyu Oppa," she forced a smile. "You will go to Los Angeles to have the intense training for vocal trainer, right? You'll forget me soon."

Funny how she could think that I would forget someone I loved easily.

She would never think that I was too scared to fall in love again because of her.

I just dismissed my class ten minutes ago but I immediately realize that I left my phone on the table once I reach the staff room. I quickly return to the class to find it.

However the vocal room is not empty.

"Really?" I see the girl chuckles from the window. She looks at my childhood friend with a smile, "I don't think it's impossible for someone who has a talent like you."

"You're flattering me," Woohyun smiles bashfully and glances at Eunye. "The impossible thing is the fact that you don't have a boyfriend yet. I still don't believe it."

"Well, what if I say it's because I am waiting for someone?" Eunye bites her lip shyly but it's obvious for me that it's just an act. "Someone who is really close to me..."

That's it.

I open the room without hesitation and put a fake surprised expression when I see them together, "Oh, sorry. I think it's empty."

"Ah, I have my class here after yours," Woohyun laughs nervously as he stands up while I take my phone. "How's your first week here, Sunggyu Hyung?"

"Good," I retort him but my eyes are fixed on Eunye. I can see clearly that she is not happy with my sudden interruption. "Looks like you two get along in a short time, eh?"

"Well, kind of," Woohyun flashes a smile to Eunye before grins to me. " I heard you two were in the same college. You know Howon then, Hyung? Lee Howon?"

"Hoya?" I mutter the name in my mind. I know he is Eunye's best friend and Eunye always calls him with that name. "Yes, I know him. He teaches dance here, doesn't he?"

It's a small world. A really small world.

I returned to Seoul to fulfill my dream to be a vocal trainer in an art school just to gather with a girl from my past, her best friend, and my childhood friend.

On top of all, looks like she is making her way to win Woohyun's heart.

"Don't you have work to do, Choi Songsaenim?" I ask the rhetorical question to Eunye. "Why don't we return to staff room together? I'm sure Woohyun want to prepare for his class."

Without waiting for her answer, I push her out from the room, giving Woohyun a big grin, "I'll see you later, Woohyun!"

"I can walk by my own," Eunye shrugs my hands away once we are far enough from Woohyun. She gives me a deadly glare and scoffs, "Can't you read the situation before you interrupt something?"

"Where is the sweet smile, Choi Eunye? Or can you only give one when you're with Woohyun?" I frown, feeling something is suspicious. "I don't remember you treated me like this when we're in college."

She gives me the offended look. Eunye turns around and walks away without another word, leaving me alone at the hallway corridor.

My intuition tells me that she is planning on something and I don't like it.

"Sunggyu Hyung, what do you think about Eunye?" Woohyun asks me when I'm preparing the ramen for our dinner. I should have known that he would start this topic after a week.

I am staying in his apartment for the time being until I find a new apartment. It's been a week since I arrived in Seoul and started my job as a teacher in vocal class.

For one week I've been observing about Eungeum Art School. Like what I heard, the students are great and the teachers are talented. I like the environment but I never thought to meet Eunye again.

I still remember her expression when we met last week. She was having dinner with Woohyun when I came to see him. She looked really surprised and so did I.

The last thing I remember about Eunye is when she met me on my birthday, right after Bora accepted my feeling. She was holding a present in white wrapping gift but she didn't give it to me.

In fact she ran away right after I told her that Bora and I were together. We never talked again since then. She even looked away whenever we met.

Eunye is my junior and she was well known as a friendly and sweet girl in her department. We became friends quickly and I always thought that she was a really good friend.

I actually missed her when she drew the distance with me but I guess I could adapt with it because I had Bora back then.

Now that I meet her again, I start to wonder why she ignored me after my birthday. I wonder if the present in her hand was meant for me.

"What do you think I will think about her?" I reply Woohyun as I turn off the fire. "Why do you even ask about her anyway?"

I can see Woohyun blushes slightly but he tries to hide it with helping me to prepare the ramen, "Well... She is a sweet girl. I just think about getting closer with her."

"Woohyun, you are my childhood friend and I want the best for you," I put down the bowl and hold his shoulders firmly. "You barely know Eunye and I think she has something else in mind."

"Wow, you're such a heart stopper, Sunggyu Hyung," he laughs and returns to get the ramen. He walks to the main room and sits down with the bowl of ramen in hand, "You sure know how to stop my heart from beating fast for Eunye."

I roll my eyes and follow him to the main room with my own bowl, "Look, I was a friend for her before but I think she has changed. A lot, Woohyun."

Woohyun looks up at the ceiling and pouts, "It's been a while since the last time I met someone like her, Hyung. She is... different."

"Different doesn't always mean something good," I state the truth, hoping that he will listen to me. "Don't rush, Woohyun. If you're meant to be with her, she can wait."

He raises his eyebrow, "You know what, Gyu Hyung? You sound like you hate her. What kind of history that you have with her actually?"

"If you think that I have something romantic with her, you can throw that idea away," I start to eat my ramen. "She's not even my type."

We eat our ramen in silence until I finish mine first. I open the refrigerator and frown, "Yah, Woohyun, don't you have fruits here?"

"Haben boud it," he answers with full mouth. He swallows down the ramen and repeats, "Haven't bought it. Do you want something?"

"Yeah. I'll go buy some apples then," I walk pass him and wear my shoes. "I'll be right back. Do you want something else?"

"Oranges will do," he waves to me, still holding the bowl. "Bring the umbrella. The forecast said that it will rain today."

"I know, I know," I grab the white umbrella next to the door and storm out from the apartment, heading out to find the nearest market to buy some fruits.

"Apple, apple," my eyes wander to find the delicious red fruits. I pick some and then move to the oranges box to pick Woohyun's request.

"Aish, Hoya, I know what I'm doing!" a familiar voice catches my attention. The voice comes from behind me. "It's not like I'm going to burn down the kitchen!"

I take a peek at the girl who is arguing with the guy next to her. What a coincidence to meet these two persons here.

"I know... but cooking? Eunye, how far are you going for this guy?" Hoya takes the eggs that Eunye just put in the cart. "You even quit your work. Don't you think that it's too much already?"

"Change of plan," Eunye takes the eggs back and puts it in the cart. "I never prepared a plan where Kim Sunggyu is his childhood friend."

I focus my alert when I hear she mentions my name. What are they talking about actually?

"What's the difference?" Hoya takes the box of eggs out again, putting it back to its place. "You're not taking the request to break his heart. Don't throw yourself in the flame, Eunye."

"There is a big difference," Eunye grabs the eggs again. "Stop taking away my eggs, Lee Howon."

Hoya sighs but he tries to take the eggs once again. Eunye tries to avoid him and she ends up losing her eggs anyway because they fly out from the box and one of them lands right on my head.

"Aish!" I groan spontaneously, tossing away the egg from my head. I can feel that my hair is sticky now because of the liquid.

"Ah, sorry, I-" Eunye rushes to approach me but her words of apology stop when she realizes that it's actually me.

Hoya gasps in surprise, "Sunggyu Hyung?"

Everyone's charachter was so well explained. And i think its one of the best infinite fiction.
