Hearts are Made to be Broken

"I was," Eunye replied me and I could see curiosity in her eyes. Perhaps she was wondering where my confidence came from. "Once."
That's the answer I was expecting.
"A heart can't forget love. Once a heart was in love, it will never forget," I dared myself to step closer to her, hoping that she wouldn't walk away like how she always did. "You know that, right?"
At the same time I told myself that it's my chance. I wanted to confess what I was feeling for her.
All or nothing, I guess.
I moved her hair behind her ear and whispered, "Your heart will always remember that you once saw me like how I see you now."
"Yah!" she moved farther from me, covering her ear with left hand nervously. Her cheeks were pink and I held my urge to smile wider. "What do you think you're doing?!"
"Telling you what I'm thinking," I shrugged, looking back at her. "From the way you look at me, you must think that I'm crazy."
Eunye rolled her eyes and looked away, "If you're trying to break my heart again, you can stop now. It won't work on me twice."
"A heart can't forget love, you said," she dropped her gaze sadly. "Doesn't it mean you still remember Bora?"
I was taken aback by her question. I never expected my statement would backfire at me.
"You still do love her," she scoffed and smirked with sarcasm. "I don't know if you think hearts are made to be broken but don't tell someone else that she is special for you when she isn't."
I was going to reply her but she walked pass me as if she didn't want to talk anymore. I turned and called her name to stop her, "Wait, Eun-"
"I have no intention to be more than just friends with you," she told me without looking back. "I'm just your colleague."
With that I knew she just rejected me.

♥ Woohyun ♥
Sunggyu spins his fork without paying any attention at all to his food. He hasn't finished his food yet and I'm pretty sure that the spaghetti is cold already.
"Hyung," I snap my fingers in front of his face, getting his back to his senses. "Earth to Kim Sunggyu."
He blinks and clears his throat, "Sorry. What did you just say?"
I prop my chin on palm and stare back at him, "I didn't say anything. I'm just wondering what's in your mind until you don't eat your favorite food."
He has been acting like this since he arrived at the cafetaria. I was waiting for him because he told me to go first. He went somewhere else for a while.
Sunggyu zoned out from the world as if he was thinking about something really hard. Honestly I wanted to fix our distant friendship ever since pictures of him and Eunye appeared.
Things are better now and the pranks have stopped. Maybe because tomorrow the exam will start and the students are focusing on the exam instead of pulling pranks on Eunye.
"Nothing," Sunggyu answers, forcing a smile. "I'm just not really hungry..."
I study his expression and I decide to bring up the topic, "How are you and Eunye?"
He suddenly drops his fork and looks at me with wide eyes, "E-Eh?"
Now the reaction is so not ordinary.
I frown and start to feel curious now, "Did something actually happen between you and Eunye, Gyu Hyung?"
Sunggyu just looks at me with awkward expression. He opens his mouth then closes it again as if the words are stuck in his throat.
"You like her," I blurt out the words without even thinking twice. My heart actually feels pain when I say it. "Those pictures... You actually have feeling for her, don't you?"
He gives me an apologetic look, "Woohyun, I... I don't think it's a good decision to lie to my best friend."
So I'm right.
"Since when?" I clench my right fist under the table, feeling that my blood boils inside. I have guessed it but why does it still feel hurt to know that my childhood friend likes the girl I love?
Sunggyu rubs the back of his neck and mumbles, "I don't know... I just... I just know that I want to be with her."
There are seconds of awkward silence before I break the silence with a forced smile, "I guess we're rivals now then."
"Woohyun, I-" he tries to continue the conversation but I have stood up and he stops immediately.
"Don't worry. I'm not mad at you," I tell him honestly. "I'm not going to ask you to back off just because I'm your childhood friend. Besides I just want her to be happy."
I excuse myself and head out from the cafetaria, burying the pain in my heart of knowing that my best friend actually loves the same girl that I love.
"Wah!" I almost bump onto someone but I stop at the right time. "Woohyun?"
I look at the girl who looks ready to leave the school already with her bag, "Eunye."

My mind is wandering somewhere else when I almost bump onto someone. Thanks to Sunggyu for messing my mind with his statement.
I don't know if he was just teasing me or else but I keep telling myself not to fall for his trap. Besides it's not like I don't know where my heart goes to now.
It's not Sunggyu anymore. It's my own best friend who lets me stay in friend zone.
"Wah!" I manage to balance myself from bumping onto the guy. I look up to see who it is. "Woohyun?"
"Eunye," he calls my name and blinks with surprise. "Ah, going back already?"
I nod and smile at him, "Exam will start tomorrow morning, right? I'm thinking about-"
I stop when I see Hoya just stepped out from the staff room. I am standing only metres away from him and our eyes meet for two seconds before Woohyun greets him, "Ah, Hoya."
Hoya? Since when did Woohyun call him Hoya?
I pretend to be busy with my phone but I have a feeling that Hoya knows that I'm avoiding him. He greets Woohyun politely, "Hey."
"Going to practice again?" Woohyun asks him when I put back my phone in bag, ready to leave.
"No, I actually need to meet up with someone," Hoya gives a surprising answer. I hold the urge to look at him with disbelief. "I need to leave now. See you tomorrow."
Hoya leaves just by those words. Woohyun mumbles that he wonders who Hoya is going to meet but I don't answer him.
It feels really hurt. He doesn't even say anything to me. He doesn't even try to make me talk to him.
Like... Seriously. Does he even consider me as a best friend?!
"I just remember that I also have an errand to run," I make up a reason and wave to Woohyun. "I'll see you tomorrow, Woohyun."
I rush to make sure that I won't lose Hoya from my sight. He walks pass the school gate and I draw a safe distance so he will not notice my presence.
It's wrong to follow him like this. I know...
...but this curious heart can't help to find out where he is going to.
