2 ♥ Heart Melter

Hearts are Made to be Broken
"Thank you for your hard work today," I stop the music and turn to the students. "Don't forget to train again because the audition for you will be held in two weeks."

"Yes, Songsaenim!" they answer me in unison. They bow to me before grabbing their stuffs and leave the dance practice room, chatting and discussing about the training.

When all of them have gone, I check whether if they left something behind or not. I turn off the lights before I walk out from the room and lock it.

"It's 5 PM...," I murmur, glancing at my wrist watch that I took off before the class to check the clock. "She must be still at the office."

I take a quick shower as if the routinity is already programmed in my head. Whenever I have dismissed the class, I will enjoy the cold water in the shower rooms which are restricted for the staffs.

Four months have passed since I was accepted to be the permanent dance teacher at Eungeum art school. After going through one month probation, my skill was acknowledged and I could be relieved that I would not be a jobless man.

"Yo, Lee Howon, are you done for today?" Jang Dongwoo, my senior in dance department, greets me when I just tap my employee card to the machine as the sign that I've finished my duties today. "How's class?"

"Good, as usual," I retort, putting back my ID card in my bag. "The next semester will start in a month. I can't wait to meet the new students."

"Not only new students, we will also accept new teachers for next semester," he taps his ID card and turns to me. "Do you have any recommendation? We are looking for female teacher to brighten up the atmosphere here."

I look up, trying to remember someone that I can recommend for the school but I have no idea at all. It's not like I have many female friends as well.

"Can't think of any," I answer as both of us walk out from the staff room. "If I have the name, I will make sure she will enroll to this school as a new teacher."

We part our ways as he heads to get his motorcycle while I head to the bus stop. I was going to take out my phone to give someone a call when I notice the familiar figure, leaning to the school gate.

She is wearing her favorite black blazer, the one I chose for her before her first day to work as a financial advisor for a big company.

"Choi Eunye, what are you doing here?" I immediately call out her name without hesitation, making her to turn around and shock is all written on her face when she sees me.

"Hoya!" she calls me with the nickname that she made for me since college days. "I called you but you didn't pick up! What were you doing?"

"Ah," I remember that I haven't checked my phone since the last class started. I take it out and find miscalls from Eunye. She even sent me three text messages starting from two hours ago.

"Wow, hang on," I frown and stare at her, "aren't you supposed to be at your office now? Since when did you become the one who picked me up, eh?"

"You think I come here to pick you?" she raises her eyebrow, teasing me obviously. "I need your help to introduce me to someone."

"Choi Eunye wants me to introduce her to someone?" I fold my arms, studying her expression. "Are you sick or something is in your head?"

"He is one of the teachers here," she slaps my shoulder lightly, making me to flinch a little. "Do you know a guy named Nam Woohyun?"

Whenever she talks about a new guy, it's usually about her foolish attempt of teaching guys lessons or so what she always said.

And I smell something fishy about it.

"Choi Eunye! Open the door!" I knocked the door impatiently. I had been patient enough by waiting for her outside of her room. Even after thirty minutes she still refused to open it for me. "Eunye! Open it or I will break the door! I'm serious!"

There were seconds of silence and I knew she was considering about opening the door for me. I rarely raised my voice but I was too worried about her now.

Eunye was my best friend since the first semester because we're in the same class for English subject. She was really good that she would tutor me willingly.

I was not really good in communicating with new people but Eunye made everything seemed easy for me. Her easy going and cheerful attitude opened up the chance for me to blend in the community.

Since both of us were the oldest child in our family, we knew that we must worked our best to make our parents proud after we graduated from college. Perhaps that feeling was the reason we could be really close to each other.

That's why when she was down like this because of a guy, I couldn't help but to snap her back to reality. I knew she was in love with this guy named Kim Sunggyu for months but I never said anything because I didn't want to interrupt her private life.

Actually I blamed myself somehow because I was too busy with my dance practice lately that I didn't listen to her story like before. Now that she was broken hearted, I did have responsibilities as her so called best friend.

The door produced click sound and Eunye opened the door slightly, looking at me from the crack. I pushed open the door carefully and stepped inside her apartment.

"I rushed here after my practice," I closed the door and followed her to the main room where she sat down and hugged her knees tight. "Sorry."

She didn't reply me and sobbed again. Her eyes were swollen and it looked weird because I almost never saw her cried before.

"Yah, Eunye, it's just a guy," I sat next to her and ruffled her hair. "Forget about him, okay? He doesn't worth your tears."

"I thought... I thought he was... I hate him! I hate him!" she hit her own knees for numerous times. "He is a jerk! I hate him! I hate him!"

"Yes, yes, yes," I stopped her, grabbing her fists and then cupped her cheeks, wiping away her tears. "If hating him makes you stop crying, then hate him."

"All guys are jerks," she stated, pouting her lips.

"Yes, I know," I pulled my hand back and patted her head. "Guys are jerks."

"You are a jerk too," she gave me a sharp look.

"Yes, I am," I patted her head twice. If cursing me could make her feel better then I guess I would let her do it.

"But you're my best friend," she leaned her head to my shoulder, closing her eyes comfortably. "At least you're not a jerk for me."

I laughed and rested my head on hers, letting the time to pass until she finally asked for a dinner.

I never thought that I would regret my advice to hate that guy in the future.

"And he is my next 'assignment'!" Eunye finishes her explanation about the reason why she is looking for this Nam Woohyun. We have returned to her apartment room because I don't think it's a good idea to talk about the person who works on the spot. "I don't think it will be a hard one."

"You mean your next 'prey'," I heave a sigh and prop my chin on palm. "Yah, Eunye, when will you stop being the heartbreaker? It's dangerous, you know."

"What kind of danger that can happen? You're worrying too much," she retorts calmly. "Are you defending him as a guy now? I'm helping someone here."

I know Eunye is not a bad girl. I know her intention is to teach a guy with a lesson that he can't play with a girl's heart but what she is doing is just as bad as the guy.

What if that guy is serious about her? More over what if the guy wants to take revenge on her? It's a good thing that it never happened until now.

Her hatred towards Kim Sunggyu is the reason she became the infamous heartbreaker. I don't like calling my best friend with that nickname but I guess it suits her pretty well now.

No matter how many times I have told her to stop receiving those foolish requests because I think those girls should deal with their own problem, Eunye is too stubborn to listen to me.

"Besides it's not like I'm the only one who is going around breaking guys' hearts," she puts down her cup and looks at me. "How many girls that you have rejected since you started teaching there?"

"I rejected them because I'm being honest with them," I flick her forehead lightly. "They confessed after knowing the consequences. It's not my fault that none of them could win my heart."

"Ha! Cocky Lee Howon!" she sticks out her tongue and pouts. "Fine. If you don't want to help me, I'll find my own way to get him know me."

"Don't even think about me giving up on this assignment! You can't melt my heart like what you do to other girls until they fall heads over heels for you," she stands up and walks to the kitchen. "In front of the heartbreaker, you're not a heart melter."

"Yes, yes, whatever you say," I smile and lean my back against the sofa. "You better focus with your work instead of this Nam Woohyun. You don't want to be fired from your office, do you? It will be difficult if you want to find a new job."

"Ah, you're right!" she stops washing the cup and turns to me. She rushes to my side and holds my shoulder, "You're a genius, Hoya!"

"What? What did I just say?" I start to be confused. Did I just give her an idea that I don't even remember what it is?

Eunye straightens her body and puts her hands on her hip, "I'm going to apply as a teacher in Eungeum Art School!"

"What?!" my jaw drops opened immediately. She can't be serious. "You don't have any talents in art!"

"Now that is rude...," she gives me a mischievous grin. "You'll be surprised with what your best friend can do!"

Why did I always trigger her to have silly ideas?

Author's Note:

All the names are revealed!
Did you guess them right? ;)

Anyway, this is the definition of 'heart melter' that I found on internet:

"Someone who makes your heart melt and gently places tingles down your spine each time you look into their eyes, talk to them, hear their voice, feel their touch and sense their presence.
Not to be confused to heartbreaker, heart melters are sweethearts who love for their heart melting skills."
