At Kyunghee High..

After class, Jaejoong was assigned the cleaning duty..

“Jaejoong-ssi, hurry up, let’s go!” a student said

“Yeah, I’ll just sweep these dust off. Be there in a minute.” Jaejoong answered

“Just hide it in the corner! Hurry!” the student said impatiently

“Yah!! How many times did I tell you to clean the classroom properly??” Seohyun scolded the two

“A-Ani, I’m really going to clean it all up!” Jaejoong defended

“Hey, by the way, Jaejoong-ssi, about that, have you told her about it?” the student asked

“Oh, the part time job?” another student asked

“P-Part-time job?” Seohyun stuttered. Could it be that he told it to them? “W-What about the part-time job?” Seohyun asked nervously

“Oh, he started working in a music store” the student said

“Ah, that!” Seohyun sighed in relief

Jaejoong saw Seohyun’s worried expression so he approached her. “Don’t worry. I’m not gonna tell anyone about your job” Jaejoong whispered

“Hey, what’s about the hush-hush over there?” the two other students asked

“It’s nothing!” Jaejoong answered with a smile. He put the cleaning materials away and got his bag. “Okay, I need to leave for my job now”

“Jaejoong-ssi, let’s go together!” the two students said and followed him

As the three left, Sooyoung and Yuri started a litany of questions to Seohyun

“Seohyun-ah” Yuri said. “So what’s the latest news?”

“How are things between you two?” Sooyoung asked also. “We didn’t have much chance to talk about it during the Community Service Project”

“Though, you seemed like you guys got closer after that” Yuri said

“Tell me did something happen between you and him?” Sooyoung asked

“Nothing happened” Seohyun answered. “He is just my childhood friend!”

“Ohhhhhhhhh” the two exclaimed

“Hey, why are you asking me so many questions all of a sudden?” Seohyun asked

“Of course we just want to know what’s happening to you. Hehehe!” Yuri teased

SIWON’S POV

I saw three guys going out of the school gates. One of them was the transfer student.

“I often see him hanging around Prez recently…Who is he?” I asked Ryeowook-ssi

“Ah, you mean, Jaejoong-ssi? I heard he is Prez’ childhood friend” he answered. “Prez took care of him when they were kids”

“Ahhh”

“Prez is so cool, right? As I’ve always thought, she is an amazing person.” Ryeowook-ssi said

“So what did Kyuhyun-ssi say about it?” I asked

“Kyuhyun-ssi?? Wae? What about Kyuhyun-ssi?” Ryeowwok-ssi asked

Ryeowook-ssi doesn’t really get the situation here, doesn’t he?

“Never mind” I just told him.

END OF POV

9 pm, at Jaejoong’s apartment..

Jaejoong saw the box of goods from his grandparents. “Crap! I forgot to call Harabouji”

He quickly dialed a phone number and in just a while he heard a Ring on the other line. He heard the phone picked up by the receiver.

“Yoboseyo! Hey grandpa, it’s  Jaejoon—”

“YAAAAAAH!!!!!!” Jaejoong heard the angry voice of his grandpa from the other line. Harabouji was so furious that Jaejoong had to take the phone away from his ear or else his eardrums would have suffered from the loudness of his voice. When he felt that his grandpa has calmed down a little bit, he put the phone back to his ear. “What are you thinking!!?? You did not even call us, Hero!!!!!”

“You don’t need to be that angry..” Jaejoong said

“Your halmeoni is worried sick too!” the older man told him

“I’m doing fine here! You don’t need to worry about me.” Jaejoong said simply. “I’m glad that I came here” he said cheerfully so his elders won’t worry

“Did you manage to find her?” harabouji asked suddenly in a serious tone.

Pause. “Yeah” he said softly. “I found her almost immediately. She’s at the same school, even the same class as me. This…must be fate, neh grandpa?”

Jaejoong heard a big sigh from the other line. “Alright! Halmeoni said you should be healthy there”

“Yeah, Yeah” Jaejoong answered. “Tell halmeoni that I’m doing fine and she should not worry too much.”

“Arasso, I’m hanging up!” harabouji said

“Wait grandpa!” Jaejoong said

“Eh?”

“Gomawo!”

“Uhhhum”

“Saranghae harabouji!!” Jaejoong teased his old man. He could imagine how awkward his harabouji probably looked when he heard him say those things. His grandfather doesn’t like these warm kinds of talks. Kekeke. But he meant it by the way.

“Arasso”

“Bye” and the line went dead.

The next day, the Maid Latte staff was having their monthly meeting.

“Magical Girl’s Day? A cartoon cosplay event?” Seohyun asked

“Yeah” Taeyeon said. “The producers gave us permission to do it after seeing our pictures!! Especially you, you are perfect for ROSE”

“Magical maids..” Seohyun uttered while looking at the poster of the animation

“You haven’t watched it yet? It airs during Sunday mornings. There’s no one else that can play DAISY but me ” Hara said

“You don’t need to, Hara-ssi” Taeyeon blocked

“Hmmmpppt”

“Anyway, Seohyun-ah, take these” Taeyeon handed her a big paperbag. “I’ll lend you these DVD’s, so try to get into the role of your character”

“There’s this much already?” Seohyun asked

“It’s the 4^th season already. There are about 40 volumes in this season alone” Hara said

“You don’t need to watch them all. Just watch Episode one.” Hyoyeon suggested

“..and episode 12 and 13” Tiffany added

“Oh, okay” Seohyun answered

“Ah, Seohyun-ah” Taeyeon whispered. “What happened after Jaejoong-ssi found out about your secret?”

“I don’t know if I can answer that…” Seohyun said

“Did Kyuhyun-ssi become jealous?” Taeyeon smirked

“Speaking of Kyuhyun-ssi” Yoona said. “He is not here today. I didn’t see him in the kitchen”

“I-It doesn’t matter” Seohyun said. “He’s just a..a..erted alien”

“Hmmm?” Hara grunted

9pm, right after Jaejoong’s work..

He decided to look for something..

 “Strange..” he mumbled. “I’m sure it was somewhere around here.”

Suddenly, he felt something on his feet.

“Uhh?” he said. “It’s an apple”

Then more apples came rolling down.

“More apples!!” he said and started to pick them up.

“Wait. Be good and don’t roll away!” he heard a woman’s voice

When he looked up, he recognized the person and smiled.

“Here are your apples” he said as he helped her put them in the plastic bag.

BRAGG!

The plastic ripped and the apples came rolling down again.

“Hehe! It looks like I need to help you carry it all the way”

The woman chuckled. “Gomawo!”

9:30 pm, at the Seo’s residence..

“Woah” Seohyun said as she watched the television.

“Kids’ shows nowadays are amazing, aren’t they?” Suzy asked

“Yeah!” Seohyun answered and continued watching

“Ah, omma is back” Suzy said. “Oh, and there’s a man I’ve never seen before. Maybe he will be our new father.”

Seohyun looked up. “Eh?”

The man turned around.

“Oh, Suzy-yah!!” the man said. “You’ve gotten so big. You were so little back then!”

“Hero-oppa!!!” Suzy called still with her poker face and approached Jaejoong. “It’s been a long time”

“Ready, Set, Go!!” both of them said then made their own friendship handshake.

“What was that?” Seohyun asked the two as she watched them

“It’s the secret handshake from a movie we watched together back then” Suzy said

“I know that but still…aren’t you old enough to do such things?” Seohyun asked

“But it’s fun, neh Suzy-yah?” Jaejoong said and ruffled Suzy’s hair

“Uhuum!” Suzy answered

“By the way, Jaejoong-ssi, why are you here?” Seohyun asked

“He picked up some apples I dropped!” their omma answered. “We met by pure coincidence”

“Wait, didn’t this happen before..?” Seohyun sweat-dropped realizing something

“Oh yeah, I remember your classmate who helped omma and even fixed our floor unnie” Suzy said

“Deh!! Come eat for a while” their omma called

“Thanks for the meal!!” Jaejoong said when they were all seated

“You’ve gotten more handsome, Jaejoong-ssi” Mrs. Seo said

“Am I manlier too?” JAejoong asked

“Yes, you’ve grown sturdy!” Mrs. Seo answered

“So, what were you doing near our house?” Seohyun asked

“Ah, I was looking for something”

“Oppa, don’t tell me you still like Seohyun-unnie?” Suzy asked

This made both Seohyun and Jaejoong blush.

“Suzy, what was that for?” Seohyun scolded

“W-what do you mean by that, Suzy-yah?” Jaejoong asked shyly

“Aishh oppa, you are still as easy to read just like back then” Suzy answered

“Back then??” Jaejoong asked. “No way! I thought I always kept a low profile not to catch any attention. No one should have known.”

“Yeah, you kept staring at Seohyun-ah” Mrs. Seo added

“Even you knew it????” Jaejoong asked in disbelief

Suzy sweat dropped. “You were looking for our house, right oppa? You shouldn’t stalk people you know?”

“No, that’s not it.” Jaejoong answered. “I was looking for a tree. I thought it might still be there.”

“A tree?” Seohyun asked. “You mean the tree you fell off from in 4^th grade?”

(A/N: The flashback can be found in Chapter 39)

“Oh! You remembered!” Jaejoong said happily

“Why are you looking for it?” Seohyun asked

“It’s where I promised to follow you for the rest of my life” Jaejoong said

“That’s not right! That part happened in the infirmary” Seohyun disagreed

“Oh you remember it that well” Jaejoong said. “But no matter where it happened, the promise was real though. I wonder if that tree is still there”

After 3 days..

It was finally Magical Girl’s Day at Maid Latte..

“It’s finally Sunday!” Yesung exclaimed

“Of course, we’ll spend our time here today at Maid Latte” Eunhyuk cheered

“I’m looking forward for today’s event” KangIn said

“I’ve done my research since Eunhyuk-ssi told about it” Yesung said

“Me too!” KangIn joined. “It was my first time watching early morning cartoons!”

As soon as the Pabo Trio, entered the café, they were greeted by two magical Maids, ROSE (Seohyun) and LILY (Yoona). Each was dressed in a sailor girl’s uniform, a black cape, a witch hat and the matching cute wand.

“Welcome back, Masters!” Seohyun greeted first. “Get ready to be melted away by today’s Latte magic” she said while doing a cool pose and waving her wand.

“Oh no! The Masters has been cursed with black magic” Yoona started to act out her character

“Okay, Let’s go Lily!” Seohyun acted too

“Got it” Yoona said

“Gagiron Boburon, Instant Cure!” both of them casted a spell with their wands.

“With this you will be fine” Seohyun said

“Take your time and enjoy, Masters!” Yoona said

The Pabo Trio were dumbstruck.

“T-That was a perfect magical Girl cosplay!” Eunhyuk said. “The similarity to the original is just amazing”

“I only watched it once, but I liked it” KangIn said

“Especially the two main characters. It’s just as you predicted, Eunhyuk-ssi” Yesung said

“But I didn’t expect Seohyun-ssi to do this much for us. I’m so happy” Eunhyuk said

At the staff room..

Everyone were dressed as Magical Girls..

“We will make this event a success” Hara said. “Neh Taeyeon-unnie, I’m just perfect for Daisy’s character, aren’t I?”

“Alright. but I won’t let you go out on the floor.” Taeyeon said

“Wae? This costume would be a waste if I don’t get out” Hara retorted

“I already let you have a costume and that’s enough” Taeyeon insisted

“You’re no fun, Taeyeon-unnie”

“Another order of parfait” they heard Seohyun

“No-nam-ju-lulu-de!” Hara said

“Mam-bu-gan!” Seohyun instinctively answered. “Hara-ssi, why the diet spell?”

“Oh, you even remembered the core spells that are never really used?” Hara asked. “You didn’t even know anything about it before”

Seohyun smiled and said “I’ve watched all the DVD’s”

“All of them?” Hara asked in disbelief

“It took a lot of time though. I spent all of last night finishing them up” Seohyun answered

“You even pulled an all-nighter for this?”

And they heard the door chimes ring. It’s Kyuhyun. But there is something unusual in his serious aura today.

“Huh? He is coming as a customer today?” Hara asked. “I thought he was already part of the staff. Seohyun-ssi, what are you going to do? Are you gonna do the magical girl routine in front of him?” Hara teased

But Seohyun did not answer. She approached  Kyuhyun to greet him instead.

“Welcome back, Master!” Seohyun bowed like the usual greeting. When she looked up, Kyuhyun was already smiling a soft smile. “Melt away with Latte magic today.”

From the Staff room…

“He seems different  today” Hara noticed. “Normally, he would have replied smugly”

“Really?” Taeyeon joined. “So, he really is bothered by Jaejoong-ssi”

“I don’t really get it but I think it’s time for Daisy to step up” Hara said

“No way, stay here” Taeyeon blocked

“How was today’s special, the Magical Miracle Parfait?” Taeyeon asked Kyuhyun

“I enjoyed it. It was delicious” Kyuhyun replied

“Do you really mean that?” Taeyeon asked. “The girls in the kitchen want to hear your opinion”

Kyuhyun smiled. “Use a pointed spoon when putting the quenelles on top. I’m sure they’ll get better with some practice”

“Q-quene? P-pointed spoon?”Taeyeon asked uneasily.

“For this parfait, the frills around the rose decoration was nicely done” Kyuhyun said. “However, I think the sponge cake inside should be a little firmer”

“That’s quite a lot of opinions you have there, Kyuhyun-ssi…”

“Shall I write them down on a memo?”

“Yes, please” Taeyeon answered and handed him a paper and a pen

Kyuhyun wrote all of his suggestions on the paper.

“Really, just who are you Kyuhyun-ssi?” Taeyeon asked. “You’re not just an ordinary guy”

“I’ll take that as a compliment, then” Kyuhyun answered

“Hmmm?”

“A certain someone has been calling me this, so just think of me as another erted alien.” Kyuhyun said

The door chimes sounded again revealing Kim Jaejoong.

“Seohyun-ah, I came today!” Jaejoong beamed

“Jaejoong-ssi?” Yesung asked

“Why are you here?” Eunhyuk asked

“Rather than that, you knew Seohyun-ssi was working here?” KangIn asked

“Oh, you guys are here to see Seohyun-ah as well?” Jaejoong’s turn to ask

“You’re wrong!!!” KangIn exclaimed

“It’s not Seohyun-ah but Seohyun-ssi!” Yesung said

“That’s the rule here in Maid Latte” Eunhyuk added

Jaejoong let out a soft laugh but stopped when he saw Kyuhyun. “You’re here too, eh?”

“And what’s wrong with that Mr. stingy” Kyuhyun replied arrogantly

Jaejoong gave him a glare.

“Oh so that is Jaejoong-ssi” Hara said from afar.

“It’s getting interesting, isn’t it? It’s because of that guy.” Yoona said

Back to where Jaejoong and the others were.

“You two, chill out” Taeyeon tried to appease the two but they continued on glaring at each other. “Oh yeah, time to use a patch-up spell! Uginpa, Wagunpa, Let’s be friends!” she said then waved her wand

But the spell did not change the atmosphere.

“That’s not strong enough! They need some of Daisy’s Boy Love Spell—” Hara said

“You’re not allowed to go out, Hara-ssi” Seohyun said with a tray of three glasses on her hand

“Hmmmft” Hara pouted in frustration

Seohyun took out the Pabo Trio’s order.

“Sorry for the wait Masters” Seohyun said. “It’s the Magical Russian Roulette Game!”

“Woah, I’ve been waiting for this” Eunhyuk said

“This is a special event today” Yesung added

“Okay, one of these three glasses contains a magical juice.” Seohyun started to explain. “The one who drinks it has to put on a straight face, and I have to guess who drank it. If you beat me, you can choose either a specially made cookie or a commemorative photo with me”

“The photo of course!” the Pabo Trio chorused

“Okay, I got it!” Seohyun answered. “I’ll cast a spell right now!”

“W-wait, what kind of spell?” Yesung asked

“A spell that renders you incapable of lying” Seohyun said. “Dorinpa, Dorunpa! Now you can’t lie!” and she waved her magic wand.

After the spell was cast, the Pabo trio drank one glass each. After a while, Yesung could be seen with a really sour face.

“What’s wrong, Yesung-ssi?” Eunhyuk asked

“Get hold of yourself!” KangIn said

“T-This juice is.. no joke..” Yesung said

“The one who drank the magical juice is Master Yesung!” Seohyun said

“Better luck next time, Masters!” Yoona said

“That looks interesting!” Jaejoong said. “I wanna try it too!”

“What spell would you like, Master?” Seohyun asked

“How about…” he trailed “..a spell to beat my rival?”

“It’s pointless to beat me by magic!” Kyuhyun said smugly

“Hmmmfft” Jaejoong pouted

“He’s got a point! You’ve got to win it by yourself” Taeyeon giggled.

“Besides the love spell is a double edged sword.” Hyoyeon said

“Even if it succeeds, there will be a price to pay” Tiffany added

While everyone was busy arguing about it, Kyuhyun stood up and prepared to leave. Seohyun noticed him and bowed her head.

“Thanks for the meal” Kyuhyun said to Taeyeon then turned to Seohyun. “What’s wrong?”

“N-Nothing” she answered. “Have a safe trip, Master” Seohyun said with a 90-degree bow.

And the door chimes sounded again telling that someone has went out.

“Seohyun-ah” Jaejoong called

“Ye?”

“I’ve got a spell that I would like you to cast on me!” Jaejoong said. “A seeking spell”

“Seeking spell?”

“You know, the tree that I told you?”

“Ahh”

“Hurry, cast it on me!” Jaejoong waited with a wide smile

“I’ll cast it then” Seohyun waved her wand over Jaejoong. “Tedunpa, Tedonpa! You’ll find it soon!”

9 pm..Maid Latte’s closing time..

“Hara-ssi seems moody” Tiffany noticed

“She is pouting about not being able to get out to the floor” Taeyeon said

“I helped you with the outfits” Hara retorted

“Yeah, Yeah”

“I even helped you with the acting” Hara added.

“Yeah, yeah”

“I looked so cute as Daisy, too”

“You just butted in forcefully!” Taeyeon scolded

“I wanted to show off on the floor” Hara complained

“Enough of that!!” Taeyeon said. “Anyway, why are you even here again, in the first place?! Go make some friends to play with.”

“Why do I have to be lectured by you?!” Hara whined

“This place is not a playground” Taeyeon answered

“Shut up! It doesn’t matter to you if I have friends or not!” Hara raged. “I’m not the only one who is alone! Kyuhyun-ssi is alone all the time, too!”

“Hara-ssi!!!” Taeyeon reprimanded. “Don’t say that!”

“I’m sure he doesn’t have any friends at all!” Hara continued

“That’s not true, right Seohyun-ah?” Taeyeon asked

“Ah, his friends? Um..” Seohyun thought. “Is Changmin-ssi his friend? No, more like classmate only. Uhm, Is Siwon his friend? Uhhhhm….”

“How about you?” Hara cut her. “What are you to him?”

“Geez, isn’t that obvious enough?” Taeyeon commented

“Just friends?” Hara continued to press on

“No…it doesn’t feel like that..” Seohyun said softly.

“Rivals?” Hara asked again

“I thought so at first, but I’m not sure he thinks we are..” Seohyun replied

“Thought?? You used past tense just now. Let me change the question.” Hara said. “What is he to you now?”

Seohyun was caught speechless.

What is Kyuhyun to me now?

Seohyun brought out the trash after that tense conversation with Hara.

What is he to me now?

Seohyun shook her head to take the thought away. She was surprised when she saw Kyuhyun leaning on the wall outside the café.

“W-Why are you here?” she asked

“Is that wrong?” he questioned back and approached her

Seohyun avoided his eyes. “Yes of course! It’s suspicious to hang out around here at this hour! You’d be taken as a ert! What are you thinking, you pabo!?”

Kyuhyun laughed.

“Why are you laughing?” Seohyun asked

“It’s funny to see a magical girl taking out the trash.” he answered. “Isn’t there a spell for that? Try casting another spell just like before.”

Sigh.

“You’re face is really red, Seo!!” Kyuhyun mentioned

“Shut up!!” she said and passed by him. She dragged the trash and put it in the bin.

After getting rid of the trash, she let out another sigh. Without looking back at Kyuhyun, she said, “Tonight is rather cold..Don’t you feel cold? Wear a coat if you are gonna be out at this hour”

“You sure like to worry about others, neh?” Kyuhyun said

“Is that wrong??” Seohyun asked annoyed

“I planned to walk home just like this, but I felt like seeing you” Kyuhyun spilled

Still her back facing him. “Don’t you have friends?” she asked.

“Do I look that lonely to you?” Kyuhyun asked

“Ah?” Seohyun turned around and was surprised that Kyuhyun was now right in front of her. “Don’t tell me you heard what we said just now—”

“Speaking of that, I’m curious.” Kyuhyun said

“Uhm??”

“About that last question, I want to know the answer” Kyuhyun paused. “Just, what am I to you now?”

Seohyun suddenly felt pressured by the question. She did not know how or what to answer.

“Shut up!” She looked at the ground, balled her fist and threw a punch to Kyuhyun. Unluckily for her, Kyuhyun was able to block it with his palm.

“I see” Kyuhyun said softly. “So this is what you do when you cannot lie. Really, you’re not honest with yourself, Seo.”

“Shut up!!!” Seohyun said. “It’s embarrassing you know!!” her fist still struggling to break Kyuhyun’s defense

“How terrible of you” he said coldly

“Shut up!! Just shut up already!!!” Seohyun raised her voice.

Kyuhyun grabbed her wrist. “I’ll show you what my feelings are, then” he said and pulled her towards him. Kyuhyun held her tight like she was his only lifeline.

“What are you doing?” Seohyun struggled in his embrace but the more she struggled the more he tightened the hug. “Let me go! Stop it! If someone sees us like this—”

“Dorinpa, Dorunpa. Now you can’t lie” Kyuhyun whispered in her ear. Seohyun stopped struggling when she heard the spell. “I want you to tell me the truth”

A pause.

What is this feeling? What am I supposed to tell you?

Seohyun was so confused that it began to annoy her. To her annoyance, she even crumpled Kyuhyun’s shirt.

“You’re not even a magical girl…how can you use spells?” Seohyun answered

Meanwhile, along a street with just a few street lamps..

Jaejoong saw a familiar tree..

“It’s here!!” Jaejoong said. “I found it! I’m glad that it’s still here. It has grown quite a bit too”

This must be fate.
