The Next Morning
Life Under a BridgeEunbi slept well that night. She awoke to the sound of birds, and slivers of light peeking though into the room; she opened her eyes and looked around. For the first time, she was able to get a clear view of the room she had slept in.
Yerin was gone, so she decided to sit up and look around.
The single room didn’t have much, aside from the out of place, and suspiciously high quality bed. There was nothing on the walls. There was one small table in the center and a single bookshelf. The bookshelf was filled with knickknacks that Eunbi assumed Yerin must’ve collected over the years. Seemingly random things were carefully placed signifying their importance to the owner.
Eunbi stood up. The pain in her leg was a lot less than the day before, but it was still there. She made her way to the small table where she noticed Yerin’s pad of paper. Limping over she read what was written.
Good morning, Eunbi! I changed your bandage. I didn’t want to wake you up so when you’re awake please head outside and find me. Also please bring this pad with you! Thanks! Hope you slept well <3
Eunbi looked down at the fresh bandage on her leg. ‘When did she?’ she thought to herself, ‘Seriously, what’s with this girl?’ A small, quick smile spread across her face.
Picking up the pad to head outside, Eunbi dropped it by accident. With a grunt, Eunbi bent down to retrieve it, but something else caught her eye. Under Yerin’s bed was a metal box. Curiosity got the best of her. Eunbi went back to the bed and pulled out the box. The box was shut with a key lock and had a clearly written message on the top. ‘DO NOT OPEN’.
Eunbi shook it a little bit but could not figure out what was inside. Figuring it’d be best to just leave it, she placed it back where it belonged, and picked up the pad of paper again.
