At the Local Bar…

“Hyung, what’s the matter?” The maknae asked me.

“Yeah. Why did Myugul hyung asked us to come here?” Hongki asked.

“Me and my baby are having a good time…” Jonghun glared at Hongki.

“Where’s Seunghyun?” I spoke up.

“Here!” Seunghyun overheard their conversation while walking towards our table.

“What is it that you want to tell us?” Myugul asked.

Everyone was silent waiting for me to speak.

“I might not go with you this Thursday…” I announced.

“What?” Myugul said.

“Eottoke? Wei? WHY?!” Our leader, Jonghun, asked.

“I have personal reasons that I couldn’t tell you. Please look for another bassist.” I said.

“What? How dare you! This would be our biggest break then you would not come? This could be our way to our future. You know how long we’ve waited for this day. How come you couldn’t tell us? How are we going to find a new bassist in one day?” Hongki was getting emotional.

I can’t tell them that father is sick and I need to take over the hospital. I will wait for Shin hyung though. Everything would be fine… Everything…

“If you would not go on Thursday… You would not be part of the group anymore.” Myugul spoke up.

I was shocked. Everyone was shocked of what Myugul hyung has said. I can’t. This band is my second family. I can’t leave them all behind. I won’t.

“I would not agree with your decision hyung.” I said.

“If you can’t make it on Thursday before our radio guesting, you would not be part of this band anymore. Araseo? This meeting is done.” Hyung stood up and walked away.

Everyone stood up one after the other. I was left alone. Eottoke? I will only do this once but how can? I hate myself. How can I not tell them that father is in the hospital? Why didn’t I tell them? I hate myself for being a coward sometimes and now is the best time to hate myself more.

I was ready to drive home when my phone rang.

“Yopeoseyo?”

“Oppa…” A very familiar voice… It is Soon Geum.

“Soon Geum…”

“Can we talk? Are you busy?”

“Uhmm… Aneeyo. I’ll go to your house.”

“Ok. I’ll wait for you then.”

I hung up and drove to Soon Geum’s place.

“Oppa.” She was waiting for me in front of her house.

“Soon Geum, what is it?” I can see sadness in her eyes.

“Nothing. I just miss you.”

I hugged her. I was about to cry when she released me.

“Shall we walk?” she asked.

“Araseo.”

It was very quiet. No one ever spoke up until I find myself walking towards the park. Soon Geum held my hand and grabbed me towards the bench.

“Sit down oppa.” She said.

“What are you going to do?” I asked.

“Close your eyes.” She commanded and I obeyed.

She was standing behind me with her hands slowly covering my eyes.

“Oppa. Please relax. I can feel that you are stressed right now. You have your exams approaching very fast. I want you to feel the cool breeze and have peace in your mind.”

She slowly removes her hand. I can only hear footsteps and it stopped in front of me. I felt a warm hand held my hand and she started singing…

Her voice was beautiful. Everything was beautiful. Without hesitation, I opened my eyes and felt that her warm lips were resting on mine.

“I love you and I don’t want to lose you. I only want you to be happy. I want to bring happiness to you.” She said.

“You have given me so much. Gomawo. Saranghaeyo. I promise not to be sad anymore. I promise to love you every single day of my life.”

“Pinky promise?”

“Pinky promise.”

With a pinky promise, everything felt fine but still with a little guilt.

I walked her back to her house. When we were in front of her house, she suddenly stopped and hugged me.

“If something would happen on Thursday, please don’t be upset.”

“You know?” I was shocked.

“Goodbye. Take care. Drive safely. Saranghaeyo oppa.”

She ran to get inside and never looked back. Did she already know what happened between me and the band? What will happen to me now?
