“Shh! We’re missing the best part!” Taehyung chides his younger brother, making him pout a little bit.

“I am quiet!” the five year old protests and Taehyung just shakes his head, settling more comfortably on the bed.

“Of course you are Bam.”

Bambam smiles happily, snuggling next to his elder brother. There may be a four year age difference between the two but they’re as close as any siblings can be.

“Wow hyung!” exclaims Bambam, his eyes widening in wonder at the scene unfolding on the screen. “It’s so cool!”

“Isn’t it?” agrees Taehyung excitedly. Pausing the show and ignoring his younger brother’s pout, he decides to educate Bambam more on his favorite show. He begins to explain more of the anime to Bambam who listens in awe, asking questions every now and then.

“Can we do this again hyung?” he asks when Taehyung thinks Bambam is sufficiently educated on the mechanics of the show.

“Of course! We should make it a tradition!”

Bambam tilts his head. “Tradition?” He pronounces the word a little wrong but Taehyung takes great pride in correcting him.

“Tradition. Like Christmas or something. Something we do often enough to remember,” he explains, pulling the covers higher around them. “Something normal, something…” he pauses, looking for the right word.

“Special!” Bambam chimes in and the other laughs, ruffling his hair.

“Yeah. Special.”

They’re quiet for a few moments. The room is dark, the only light coming from the screen, and with the show paused for now, they can barely hear their parents murmuring downstairs.

“Hyung?”

“Yeah?”

“Can we make this special?”

Taehyung glances over at Bambam who is staring up at him with so much trust and love. Truth be told, when Taehyung first found out he was going to be an older brother, he was a little confused. Did umma and appa not love him and Sungoh anymore? But once reassured they always would, he couldn’t

wait. They made him promise he would look after his younger brother, that he would protect him as much as he could.

Taehyung likes to think even at nine years old, he is already a sense of security for Bambam. He knows the younger loves to be around him, making him

feel ‘cooler’ because on the playground he hangs around with the older kids.

Taehyung knows he’ll do whatever it takes to keep Bambam thinking of him like that.

He nods immediately, lifting his pinky finger. “Only if we pinky promise.”

“Okay!” Bambam lifts his own, slightly chubbier finger and locks it with Taehyung’s happily. “We’ll do this a lot!”

“I promise we will,” says Taehyung, smiling at his younger brother.

My sister and I always watch Haikyuu!! together and I just thought of this.
