“You really don’t think, do you?”

“Think what?” says Chanyeol absently, flipping through their mail. Taehyung had left for Jimin’s an hour ago so it’s just them in the house and Baekhyun isn’t afraid to talk as loudly as he pleases.

“You let Bam go out with a guy we just met and you don’t seem fazed about it at all. What is wrong with you?”

Chanyeol glances up, scratching the back of his head. “Should I be worried?”

Baekhyun sighs in exasperation. “We barely know the guy! Tae said he was alright and he seemed nice enough but is he good for Bam? We don’t know anything about him and we just let them-”

“Breathe, Baek.”

The elder does as instructed, taking deep breaths and dragging a hand down his face as he calms down.

“You’re getting too worked up about this, Baek. He’ll be fine.”

“But how do you know?” Baekhyun’s voice is very small and Chanyeol gets up from the table and gathers his husband in his arms. Baekhyun buries his head in his chest, listening to his heartbeat.

“You don’t want Bam to grow up, do you?”

Baekhyun stiffens but doesn’t deny it. “It’s just...he’s so young and at least with Sungoh he waited...and Tae we knew but now...I just don’t want to lose him, Channie.”

“Hey hey, now, hey.” Chanyeol uses one hand to tip Baekhyun’s chin up so their eyes can meet. “We’re not losing him. He’s just going on a date, there’s nothing very serious about it, okay? It’s just a date, Baek, it’s just a date.”

“But what if he gets hurt? What if he breaks his heart? Bam is so fragile and-”

“Then we’ll be here to make it better,” Chanyeol reassures him. “It might happen, it might not. Bam’s stronger than you think, Baek. We’ve raised him

better. You’re worrying about this too much.”

Baekhyun manages a small smile. “I guess I am being a little over dramatic, huh?”

“You always are. But it’s one of the things I love about you.”

Protective Baekhyun is my guilty pleasure.
