From Fact to Fiction
Dongwoon’s POV
Walking to the café, I recalled what had happened yesterday. Kikwang was sick and he was in bed but why would he talk to Jiyeon about his problems? There was no relationship between them before. Eavesdropping with Junhyung, we heard laughter. Kikwang was so upset, how could Jiyeon cheer him up so quickly? Do they have something going on? Whatever it is, I’m glad Jiyeon did whatever she did, I never saw Kikwang recover from the break up so quickly.
I passed by several crowds of people and as I was going to sit with Kikwang and the others, I passed by Hyunseung and Jiyeon. I looked around for Junhyung and he was nowhere to be seen. As I sat down, I watched Kikwang intently watching their every move almost as if he was jealous. How can he move on so fast? I turned my gaze towards Hyunseung and Jiyeon. They laughed and she lightly touched his shoulder. Was this the Jang Hyunseung I knew from elementary school? He never liked being touched by anyone. He rarely even smiled. What was this? Was she playing with Kikwang all along? I watched in disgust as I gulped down my food. Trying to avert Kikwang’s gaze from them, I tried to start a conversation.
“Kikwang, how are you feeling today?”
“…Huh? Yeah Yeah I’m fine” she mumbled as he played with his food.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Yeah”
“Do you like Junhyung’s sister?”
I noticed his gaze shift intently to me. He was very serious now. There was nothing to it. I think I hit a soft spot I wasn’t supposed to hit.
“Nevermind” I stuttered as I ate my sandwich.
“Why do you ask that?”
“I just figured since you seemed so close with her and all”
“We’re not that close. We’re just friends. That’s all. Don’t mention any of your careless assumptions to Junhyung got it?”
There was no doubt to it that he had something for Jiyeon. The way he threatened me was almost killing. Yong Jiyeon, you’ve got it this time. How dare she play with the two of them?
Grabbing my books and my bag, I headed for study hall. Looking at the time on my watch, I accidentally bumped into a girl walking to study hall. Dropping my books, I quickly apologized. She looked familiar though as she tried to pick up my heavy books. I bent down to see her face and it was Jiyeon. I looked away in utter disdain as I shrugged her helping hand away and picked up my book.
“Oh I was going to get that for you…” she said awkwardly.
“It’s fine. I don’t want your dirty hands touching my things anyways”
“Dirty?” she asked confused.
Without even looking at her, I walked away. I know what I did was mean but I did not want her anywhere near Kikwang. She’s going to end up hurting him more than he could take. A second heartbreak will be devastating for him.
Jiyeon’s POV
What was with Dongwoon? He acts like I did something offensive to him. Pfft he was the one who bumped into me because he wasn’t looking where he was going. It’s not my fault. I sat down in frustration. As I was working on my other homework, I felt someone was staring at me the whole time. As I looked around, I didn’t see anyone who was staring at me only. Study Hall was over before I knew it. School was over and I headed toward my locker to get my things.
Reaching for my top book, a pair of strong hands helped me reach my books. Turning around, I saw my brother’s smiling face.
“Are you done yet?”
“Yeahh almost… hold on let me take my scarf”
Instinctively, he grabbed the books in my hand to hold for me. He never liked me carrying heavy things. There he goes again, treating me like I’m still ten but that’s just Junhyung. I smiled and he quickly took my scarf and wrapped it around me neck several times before I realized that it was slightly too tight for me.
“There you go” he said as he finished putting my scarf on.
“Um… thanks” I laughed as I tried to loosened the scarf.
Junhyung and I walked towards his car. Sitting in the front seat, I turned up the heat in the car. Winter had already arrived and there were piles of snow everywhere in Seoul. I watched the snowfall onto the ground as I waited for Junhyung to finish whatever he was doing.
