From Fact to Fiction
Jiyeon’s POV
The clock ticks to 2 AM. With the black covers over my head, I laid on his bed. There was no excuse for it. Again he was late. I jumped out of bed in frustration. Covering for my brother has become a habit of mines. It’s not something I detest doing more so its his neglect on further telling me the details that I should know such as when he will be home. Suddenly a bright light appeared from a crack of the opening door. I peeped through a small opening of the blankets and I began to panic as I see Father staring over in my direction. I bit my lip in hesitation and anxiety.
“Junhyung?” whispered Father.
I lay on the bed frozen with fear. I sighed heavily as I waited for what would become of my situation. Moments later I heard the door close, I let out a sigh of relief. As I waited for him to return, my eyes started to slowly drift off. I relaxed my body and slept comfortably as I grabbed my pillow to snuggle with.
Junhyung quietly returned by coming through the window of his room. Making sure to not make a single noise, he approached his bed and uplifted the blanket. Jiyeon was soundly asleep in what seemed to be a deep sleep. Her hand dangled alongside the bed. He shook his head in disapproval as he covered her with the blanket again. Tilting her head towards the middle of the pillow, he grabbed her arm and placed it underneath the covers. Taking off his jacket, he covered himself as he rested on the sofa that was placed just across from the bed.
I covered my face with my arm as the morning light shone over me. I yawned loudly as I glanced over to my left. Junhyung’s head was tilted towards the edge of the sofa as his body looked uncomfortable in his position. I walked over to him and gazed at my brother’s exterior. No wonder so many girls like you I thought. There wasn’t anything more calming to wake up to then my brother’s sleeping face.
Grabbing my pillow in one hand and my sweater in the other, I tiptoed my way towards the door. I closed the door behind me as I made way to my room before Father walked up the staircase.
“Jiyeon, you slept in your brother’s room again?”
“Good morning Father” I bowed.
“I just ended up falling asleep”
“Tsk tsk tsk My daughter is always like this”
I formed a smile and entered in my room. I threw on my uniform as fast as I could and brushed my straight hair. Leaving with my backpack, I ran out of the house. Oppa was seated in the silver Mercedes with a sleepy expression. He was always not one to wake up early after a night out at the club.
“Next time you sneak out, I’m not covering for you anymore! You never tell me when you come home”
“I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry. It won’t happen again”
“Pfft that’s what you said last time”
“This time I mean it” he teased.
I looked away and drifted off into sleep again as we headed to school. It was always my habit of falling asleep in a moving car. I don’t know why but it feels so as if someone is rocking me to sleep. As we get towards the gate of Seoul Academy, Junhyung shook me lightly to tell me we have arrived. I looked out and noticed Junhyung’s friends approaching towards the car.
“Hello” I smiled before I saw Jiyoung’s walking figure ahead of me.
“I have to go. I’ll see you guys later”
I ran ahead and caught up with Jiyoung. I greeted her with a smile but her eyes seemed to be on someone else as if she wasn’t paying any attention to me. Her gaze seemed strongly attached to it as I turned around to see where her g
