From Fact to Fiction
Junhyung’s POV
“What are you doing?” asked Jiyeon in a tone of boredom.
“I’m reading” I replied without taking my eyes off of my comic.
I flipped to the next page before Jiyeon quickly grabbed the book and put it behind her back. She smiled widely at me as I flopped my arms emptily on the bedside.
“Jiyeon, give me back my book please” I asked.
“No” she said cutely.
I sighed as I got up standing in front of her.
“Come on seriously, it was just getting good”
“No” she repeated.
“Yah!”
“Yah!” she repeated again.
“Jiyeon!”
“Jiyeon!”
I swiftly tried to reach the book from behind her but she moved back quicker than expected. She used to love playing these games with me when she was little and even now. I couldn’t help but laugh at her adorable self.
“If you want the book, come and get it,” she teased as she ran off.
I chased her around the living room and cornered her in my room. She giggled, as she felt tired and just as I went straight toward her, she gave up voluntarily. My sudden weight had made her lose her balance as she slipped backwards on the wooden floor. Scared she was going to hit her head, I pulled her arm closer to me instantaneously but ended up stumbling on my feet. We both collapsed onto the hard floor with a loud thud.
Opening my eyes quickly, I felt a pain on my shoulder blade. I sighed, as I knew it would be a bruise later on. My eyes shifted to Jiyeon who was rested safely on my chest. I felt her breathe, her beating heart, and her body. I felt surprisingly comfortable even in this predicament.
She lifted her head, which was rested on my shoulder, and she opened her eyes. Her long eyelashes revealed her hazel eyes without hesitation. I marveled at how beautiful her eyes were. I never noticed them before. She gazed at me as I continued to look at her wide-eyed in amazement. We were inches apart from one another. I felt my heart thumping faster as I observed her sharp nose and rosy cheeks down to her pink lips.
I began to feel blood rushing to my cheeks as I gulped hard trying to figure out what I was feeling. I never felt so… so… attracted to any one before not even to Jiyoung. Jiyeon moved closer toward my face with now less than an inch away. I swallowed hard again as if it would help me resist any type of urges I might be feeling. I shook my head in disagreement. No No. Jiyeon is my sister. What am I doing? More importantly, what am I thinking?!?! I quickly pushed her off of me and stood up as straight as a stick. I cleared my throat as I helped her get up.
“Ouch! What was that for Junhyung?”
“Did I hurt you? I’m sorry,” I said as I patted her head.
I felt the sweat in my palms as I wiped them onto my pants. I’ve never felt like this before. Not even to Jiyoung. What did this all mean? Jiyeon… Jiyeon… she’s my sister and only my sister… right?
Jiyeon’s POV
I returned to my room shortly after. Checking my phone, I stood frozen when I realized that there were still no messages from Hyunseung. I haven’t seen or heard from him these couple of days. I grew worried. Something was off but why wasn’t he even talking to me? I furrowed my eyebrows. I really couldn’t understand it.
Hyunseung’s POV
Today was the day. I was going to meet my future wife. I stared at the clock hesitantly. I didn’t want to go, no, I refused to go but something made me feel like if I went maybe just maybe everything would change. Maybe… then again… why not make some trouble?
Arriving in front of the restaurant, I passed by the golden walls and the large marble water fountain in the center as I walked smoothly into the room designated by the waiters. I arrived obviously very late. Father stood up and smiled with pretense. I knew him. I knew his lies. I knew everything. There was nothing about Father that made me feel any warmth about him. He gave me nothing so I will also give him nothing in return.
“I’m sorry. Hyunseung was probably late from traffic. I apologize for my son’s behavior” Father apologized to the Kim family.
I looked to the side and my eyes squinted to see a young lady beside Mrs. Kim. Her long dark brown hair was nicely curled. Her formal attire showed her elegance as her white strapless dress fell just above her knees. She was very beautiful much to my surprise. I felt more irritated when I found she was actually nice and well mannered. As if embarrassing her in front of everyone won’t
