From Fact to Fiction
Jiyeon’s POV
“My mom died? Aunt, why are you like this suddenly? It’s not like you” I asked confused.
Mom grabbed L. Joe’s aunt’s hand and pushed her away then possessively hugged me away from her. Why was everyone like this? How did Mom know her anyways?
“Mom… who is she?” I asked.
“She’s an old friend of… m..mine. Jiyeon ah, it’s getting late. How about we go home? Huh?” Mom said as she guided me to the exit.
Before we were able to leave, Aunt had grabbed my other arm, preventing me from leaving. Mom freaked out and stood in between Aunt and I. Why was she so paranoid?
“Mom! Why are you so frantic?” I asked as I grew worried about her health.
“Park Jiyeon cannot leave. She is going to stay with her family” she stated.
“Let’s not do this here today. We can talk another time” Mom said pleadingly.
“I gave you all the time you needed. It’s been eighteen years. Do you really think I’m going to let go of you? Move!” yelled Aunt as she pushed Mom away.
Mom had stumbled and almost had fallen to the ground if not for Junhyung. I was about to rush to see if she was hurt until Aunt had said something that caught my attention.
“My name is Park Yeo- Eul. Jiyeon, does that name sound familiar?” she asked.
Park Yeo- Eul? … The name of the sender. The person who knows my birth mother… Park Mi-Yung. Impossible. She can’t be… I turned around and gazed at her.
“Do not go over to her. Your mother was laying on the hospital bed for months with cancer. She pleaded that mother of yours to let you meet her before she died. It was the only thing she wanted. You never saw your mother because she selfishly kept you! Do you not understand? She! She prevented you from seeing your real mother. How can you call that woman “Mom”?” revealed Aunt.
I turned to face Mom. She… she… I can’t believe she would do that. I thought my family was protecting me but all along, they were just a bunch of liars. Why? I began to tear subconsciously.
“Your precious brother Junhyung knew all along that your birth mother died. He didn’t tell you he knew did he?” said Aunt again.
I stared at Junhyung who didn’t meet my eyes. Even he knew… he pretended like he didn’t know the whereabouts of my birth mother and said we were in this together! He knew I wasn’t his real sister before and I didn’t get mad. Now.. now I know the truth.
“You… you all… How can you do this to me?!? What did I do wrong? Why? Do you have any idea how hurt I was when I found out I wasn’t really Yong Jiyeon? Do you know how much I wanted to see
