Jiyeon’s POV

I furrowed my eyebrows in annoyance. Junhyung was nowhere to be found this morning and he didn’t pick up his phone. Walking to the bus stop, I heard the loud noise of a motorcycle close by. I turned around and sure enough, the boy on the bike gestured for me to approach him. Curiously, I walked slowly towards him and he took of his helmet.

“L. Joe? Why are you here?” I asked surprised.

“Why are you taking the bus? Where’s your brother?”

“I don’t even know,” I whispered to myself.

“Hop on. I’ll give you a ride,” he said as he passed me the silver helmet.

I figured why not. We arrived at school just before the late bell rung. L. Joe had walked me to my locker. He didn’t seem interested in his classes or matter of fact anything. He stood aloof to everything else.

“This is a bit awkward to ask you but could you tutor me in math? I’m failing and I need to boost my grades up for this upcoming test on… uh… Thursday” L. Joe asked.

“Test? Well why don’t you get one of the school’s tutors. They would be better at explaining things to you” I suggested nonchalantly.

“But I really want you to tutor me!” he exclaimed.

“Yeahh okay then but you owe me one”

“This afternoon?”

I nodded in reply. He also walked me to class before we parted ways. The student body president, Yoseob, was in front of homeroom organizing the senior hiking trip this coming weekend. I sat in my seat and watched him call out the names of those who weren’t going. When I heard Hyunseung and HyunA’s names called, I wasn’t surprised. I wasn’t jealous. I wasn’t angry. It was weird. I was passive about everything. The only thing I was upset about was his negligence on telling me about the engagement. After Yoseob was done with his work, he pulled me aside to speak with me.

“Just to let you know, Junhyung stayed at my place for last night. He didn’t feel good so he decided to skip school for the day. He should be home by now,” Yoseob whispered.

“What’s bothering him lately? I don’t understand. He’s not him”

“It’s a someone”

“A someone? He’s dating someone else again?”

“No but its someone he wants to date. You know her too”

“I do?”

Yoseob nodded in reply before he left, leaving me even more puzzled than I was before.

L. Joe’s POV

I walked over to Jiyeon’s locker and she was putting her books away. I leaned over on the other lockers as I waited for her. Offering to carry the books in her hands, we walked to my bike at the student parking lot. We arrived shortly in front of my house. She was amazed by the amount of estate that my family had owned. It wasn’t a surprise since I looked like such a delinquent. Entering, I told the maid that we were going to study and for her to prepare some refreshments. Aunt was home today and I was eager to introduced Jiyeon to her.

“L. Joe? What did I say about bringing other people into the house?” Aunt asked as she approached me.

“Aunt, this is my friend. Yong Jiyeon” I said slowly.

“Yong Jiyeon?” Aunt said.

I nodded in reply.

“I’m so sorry for barging in like this. I was going to help him with his mathematics.” Jiyeon explained.

Aunt immediately changed her attitude. She smiled brightly and kindly to Jiyeon.

“No no. It’s fine. Come anytime you want” Aunt said.

After our encounter with Aunt, I grabbed Jiyeon to my room. She grabbed her books out and as she began to explain the terms to me, I zoned out. I wasn’t interested in any of this garbage. Why would I need to study when I will inherit everything? I was only interested in Jiyeon and in spending mor
