L. Joe’s POV

I grabbed an apple on the kitchen counter and was about to leave when Aunt suddenly appeared from her room staring down from upstairs.

“Where are you going at this time of the morning?” she asked with strictness.

“Aish Aunt you caught me. I was going to go to a friend’s house”

“Don’t lie to me. Where are you going?”

“I want to investigate a little. I want to know where she’s living”

“You found her already?”

“I think so,” I answered as I left.

Jiyeon’s POV

I woke up this morning feeling elated. Walking downstairs, there was no one there. Ahh I forgot Dad’s on a business trip and Mom probably went with the maid to get groceries. I went to the kitchen and got a glass of water. The loud doorbell echoed in the house. I opened the door and a deliveryman gave a package to me after I signed for it. It was addressed to me. But who’s Park Yeo- Eul? I asked myself as I saw the address from whom it was given by. I fumbled with the small box but decided to open it anyways. Taking the scissors, I opened the package. My eyes widened in amazement. There were dozens of handwritten letters in the box. Looking at a couple of them, the letters were all by the same woman, Park Mi- Yung.

There was a white piece of paper attached in front of all the letters given to me. I opened it and read the following content.

Dear Jiyeon,

            I hope that one day you may forgive your mother. Your mother loved you more than anyone. She had her own reasons. Every                  month she would write you letters but she never sent them. She was afraid. I found them collecting dust so I decided to give them to you, the owner of these letters. Please understand that she never stopped thinking about you.

This was so strange. What is this nonsense? My mom is Yong Yeo- Kyung. No one threw me away. What is she talking about? I looked through the letters in the box. Picking up a random one, it was a blue envelope that contained a birthday card. I opened the card hesitantly.

Happy birthday my Jiyeon ah! You’re turning two today. Mom is sorry that I couldn’t spend the day with you. I wish I could see you in the pink dress I gave you. I know my baby girl is the cutest girl in the world. Smile everyday. Mom is with you always.

No. No! This didn’t make any sense at all. I’m not Yong Yeo- Kyung and Yong Hyun- Jae’s daughter? What? Suddenly, Mom came in with the maid. I quickly without her noticing ran to my room with the package. I barely touched my breakfast. I couldn’t bring myself to eat. I wanted to read all the letters. I wanted to know what was going on? After breakfast, I grabbed the letters in the box and put them in my bag and left. I went to the library and sat at the table alone while I fumbled through all the letters.

Without realizing the time, it was already 8PM. I stared out at the cars and the people. I felt so alone in this world. So confused. So lost. I wasn’t Yong Jiyeon. I wasn’t Junhyung’s sister. I wasn’t Yong Yeo- Kyung’s daughter. I wasn’t Yong Hyun- Jae’s daughter. I was… who was I? Who am I?!?!? Tears began to undeniably drop. In this world, I was always alone.
