“Hyung, I’m really sorry… Are you sure you can handle her alone?” Gary said as he packed his things.
“Appa… Stay and play with us.” Keia said, waving Gary to come back and sit down again. Gary looked at her, feeling sorry. He wasn’t supposed to leave today, but things happen, so in the end he had to.
“I’ll play with you after work, ok?” He said, her head. “I have to leave now, but I will see you afterwards.” Gary said. He kissed the top of Keia’s head and walked towards the door. “Hyung, jinjja jinjja mianhae.”
“Kwenchanha, kwenchanha.” Gil replied. “Just leave. Before she changes her mind.” He said. Gary took his advice and left. “Jja… Appa left.” Gil said to Keia. “What should we do now?” He asked the child. Keia just sat on her chair, looking at Gil with a smile on her face. She shook her head, not knowing where to go.
“Samchon eodi gatgoshipeoyo?” Keia said, mimicking her parents. Gil laughed at her. He the back of her head.
“Cafe eottae?” He asked her in return. Keia nodded thrice, putting energy into every nod. They decided to go to a kids-cafe in Seongdonggu. When they arrived, Keia ran inside. Her little feet were decorated by a pair of white sandals. She was wearing a blue summer dress Jihyo had helped her put on earlier in the morning. Her hair was tied in a ponytail.
Used to excited kids, the workers inside greeted her happily.
“Annyeong!” One of the ladies said, waving at her. Keia waved back at the lady. Gary caught up with them. The lady was already kneeling down to get on Keia’s level. “Keiaji?” She said.
“O, Keia. I’m really no one compared to you. When did you become so famous?” Gil said. “Are you more famous than your parents now?” He laughed. The lady laughed at his comment.
“Are you ready to play?” The lady asked. This place was famous for the staffs’ attentiveness in playing with the children. Keia jumped in excitement. “Should we take of our shoes then?” She asked. Keia immediately bend down and take her sandals off. She looked around for the shoe rack and put her sandals there. The lady turned to Gil. “You can come with us or enjoy something to eat or drink.” She said and left to watch Keia.
“Kamsahamnida…” Gil said, calling after the lady. He looked at the menu and decided to order milkshake and sandwich. He sat down and watched Keia from afar, smiling at how excited she looked, even from afar. There were 2 other kids accompanied by the staffs as well on the trampoline tracks.
“O, chingu annyeong…” The staffs said, welcoming Keia. They then looked at their friend who was behind Keia. They looked at her as if they asked a question already. And as if knowing what they were thinking, Keia’s temporary caregiver nodded. “Bumonimeun?” The guy asked. She just shook her head. The guy then took charge of the situation.
“Chinguya… Ireumi muoya?” He said, asking Keia. The two kids were already close to their caregiver there. Keia stayed close to hers. The staff held Keia’s wrists from the back.
“Keia…” Keia whispered. The staff then lifted Keia’s right hand and made her wave.
“Now that we have a new friend… Should we all play a game?” The other staff asked. All the kids nodded, wanting to play a game. “Ok, we are going to stay at the other end of the line, and you’ll start from this end. Let’s see who can run the fastest, ok?” He proposed. The kids seemed to understand and immediately nodded.
“Junbi?” The other staff said. “Si……….” She paused, looking at the three kids who are concentrating. “JAK!” She finally said and the kids ran in such a high speed. Halfway through, Keia tumbled and fell. The other two didn’t notice and continued to run towards the end. Gil got up from his seat, thinking Keia would start crying. But when Keia looked up, she was giggling. She then got up again and walked to the end of the line.
“Kwenchanha?” The staff in charge of her asked. Keia blushed and laughed, she knew she fell because of her own two legs.
“I fell.” She said, giggling. Gil watched her and laughed, she really was unpredictable. The staffs repeated the race until the three were all tied.
“We are the same now!” One of the kids yelled out, oblivious to what the staffs were doing. The staffs nodded, clapping for the kids. They thought these three were such an easy task, they seemed to be happy no matter what they did. Gil looked at the time, and called Keia to come.
“Here, come and eat first.” He said. “Do you want have sandwich or burger?” He asked her. Keia paused, seeming to think for a while. “Geurae, take your time. You’re the one who’s going to eat anyway.” Gil said jokingly. Keia paused.
“Sandwich…” She said, finally. Gil then ordered it for her, getting it sliced to four so it would be easier for Keia to eat. Keia sat next to Gil, munching on her sandwich. She passed her naptime without really knowing it. Gil didn’t know it either.
“Keiaya…” Gil said. Keia looked at him. “Do you think eomma and appa are happy?” Gil asked. Keia was confused. She nodded. Gil chuckled. “They’re happier with you around?” He asked again. She nodded again. His reaction was the same, but his laugh was louder. “Eotteokhae ara?” He said jokingly. Keia shrugged and continued munching o
