Lion's Den
EquationsNote: Keia is back! And still in Singapore!
Early in the morning, when the sun was still shy, Jihyo entered the hotel room. She looked at Keia and Gary snuggling on one side of the bed, while the bed was empty behind Keia. Jihyo gently joined them in bed, kissing Keia’s cheek. She squirmed, waking Gary up.
“O, wasseo?” He asked half-asleep. Jihyo nodded, chuckling at his tired face. “She kept waking up last night.” He told her, feeling drained. She told him to go back to sleep, while she slipped in, joining them. She hugged Keia closer, only to touch her bare skin. The girl was dressed in nothing but her diapers. Jihyo chuckled, thinking that Keia was for sure Gary’s child.
Just as Jihyo was dozing off, Keia moved around, starting to wake up. She looked around and saw her dad still sleeping, her mom on the other end. She smiled and dropped herself on top of her mom’s body. She giggled. Jihyo opened her eyes and smiled at her.
“You’re awake?” Jihyo asked. “Go back to sleep, you didn’t sleep well last night.” She told her daughter, hoping that she could catch some rest as well. Keia shook her head.
“Let’s go out.” She said, getting up. Jihyo pulled her back down again and hugged her tight. She whined in response. “Eomma…” She said, pleading to go out.
“Wae? Wae?” Gary mumbled in his sleep. The girls ignored him.
“Eomma ahn bogoshipeo?” Jihyo asked her daughter. Keia tugged on her. “Where are you going with nothing on like that?” She finally asked her daughter, trying to buy some time to rest. “Go get dressed and we can go out, ok?” She compromised. Keia stood up and got her clothes. Jihyo got up after her and helped her change.
Keia looked at her mom and smiled, hugging her. Jihyo embraced the hug and then got up.
“Eomma…” She called out to Jihyo as Jihyo peeked out the window. “Baegopa.” She said, patting her stomach lightly. Jihyo laughed and patted the top of Keia’s head.
“Let’s go get something to eat then.” Jihyo said. While there was plenty for her to nibble on in the room, Jihyo wanted to go out so they won’t disturb Gary. She left a note for Gary saying that they went out for breakfast. While the hotel had breakfast, they decided to go to the mall connected to it. Jihyo was still wearing her white elbow-length t-shirt with her light blue jeans. Keia was in her light pink tee with her denim shorts on. The two strolled around the mall, looking for something to eat.
The two were looking around at the food display, and the thick toast with jam on top had caught Keia’s eyes.
“Eomma…” She called out, pulling her mom’s arm lightly. Jihyo looked down at her daughter. “Igeo muoya?” She asked, pointing at the picture of the jam layered toast. Jihyo looked at it and saw why it caught her daughter’s eyes. She smiled.
“Jam and toast.” Jihyo answered. “Igeo meogeullae?” She asked Keia and Keia nodded. “Which one do you want?” Keia chose the thick toast layered with butter and sugar. They got their orders and took a seat. Keia dug in immediately. Jihyo smiled looking at her daughter enjoying the food. “Masisseo?” She asked and Keia simply nodded.
“Eomma, are we going to go around today?” Keia asked, pausing her breakfast show for a while.
“Eo…” She said, pausing. “What do you want to do?” She asked again. Keia seemed to think for a while, but shrugged after thinking about it. “We’ll find something fun to do, we just have to wait for your appa to actually wake up.” She said, earning a giggle from her daughter. She smiled along.
After breakfast, Jihyo and Keia went to walk around for a while. When they passed the rink Gary and Keia went ice-skating on the other day.
“Appa and I went ice-skating here yesterday!” Keia said full of excitement.
“Jaemisseosseo?” Jihyo asked in response, although she knew Keia had fun for sure. Keia nodded, still excited.
“It would’ve been more fun if you were there too.” Keia said lightly, as if she wasn’t really serious about it. Keia then skipped ahead, Jihyo following a couple steps behind her, smiling at her daughter’s back. Then suddenly Keia stopped in front of a store and stared inside for a while. Jihyo wondered what Keia was seeing that it stopped her in her tracks. Jihyo caught up with her. Keia was looking into a dessert store, and Jihyo chuckled in realization.
“You just had a sweet breakfast, Keia…” She said, hoping that Keia would just let it go. And Keia did. “Should we go wake up appa?” Jihyo asked her. Keia’s face beamed with excitement, she looked kind of mischievous actually. Once they took the elevator back to
