2AM - What Do I Do?

My heart is beating wildly,
But because I knew it wasn’t for you
But for that person, it hurt so much
These days, whenever you look at me
That person’s face shows up
I am so sorry, meeting you
Was my life’s biggest blessing
I must be an idiot but I can’t stop myself
All I see is her

Oh, I tried for a few days to forget her
but it is not working too well

What should I do? In your face
All I see is hers
Even if I tell myself I can’t act like this
It’s not working too well
What should I do? From your voice
All I hear is her
I guess my heart has already left you

And have begun to love her
Even when we meet
I look around to see if she is there
When we walk down the street
I get scared that she might see
I can’t do this, I know I shouldn’t be
But the words "I love you"
become more awkward to say
I know you do your best for me
I can’t do the same for you

Oh, even if I tried to love you again, I know I can’t

What should I do? In your face
All I see is hers
Even if I tell myself that I can’t act like this
Its not working too well
What should I do? From your voice
All I hear is her
I guess my heart has already left you
And have begun to love her

I wanted to be at your side forever
And take care of you
But my heart keeps on
Searching for that girl that is not you

What should I do? In your face
All I see is hers
Even if I tell myself that I can’t act like this
It’s not working too well
What should I do? From your voice
All I hear is her
I guess my heart has already left you
And have begun to love her

My nerves grew more and more as I watched the rain walk against the windowpane. Pitter-patter, pitter patter, pitter patter. The rhythym matched that of a ticking time bomb. It was as if it was taunting me, reminding me that I was running out of time. Why couldn't time just stop for a little while. I didn't need it to stop forever, just enough for me to affirm my decision. Sitting in contemplation, I watched everyone go about their business. People were running, trying to be in the rain for the least amount of time as possible. Some had umbrellas while others shielded their heads with whatever they had in hand. I picked up my mug of coffee and took a sip. I was suddenly started by the bell that chimed whenever the coffee shop's door opened. It was just another person trying to escape the dreary weather outside. They chose the right place. This very shop always brought about the warmest sensation. It felt homey. I watched as the barista refilled a man's coffee. Before I even had the chance to warn her, she turned around and bumped into a man, spilling the coffee everywhere.

Flashback

After picking up his drink order, Seulong proceeded towards the exit. Before he even made it to the door, he was met with a big splash full of hot coffee all over my shirt and pants.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" said the barista as she tried wiping him down with a towel. After a minute or so, they both looked up. When their eyes met, they gazed at one another for about another minute. She spoke first, "Sorry."

He had forgotten about the hot liquid that resided on his drenched clothing. His heart was beating wildly. Still in awe by her beauty, he slowly replied, "Its okay."

"Ummm, I can pay for you to get your clothes dry cleaned. I'm truly sorry"

"Don't worry about it. Its nothing really." Clearly, that was a lie. Seulong had a huge stain on his shirt and pants. But because he liked her, he couldn't help but lie. Words could not describe the way they continued to stare at one another. They had an undeniable chemistry. "What's your name?"

"Kim Euncha," she said with a smile, one that was so sweet it melted his heart.

End of Flashback

I continued sitting. Waiting. Wishing. The anxiety I felt was agonizing. What if I made the wrong choice? What if I ruined any chance I had at happiness? Was I wrong for doing this? Was this a choice that I would come to regret?

The rain had subsided. When I looked out the window, I found myself staring at a couple walking hand in hand, sharing an umbrella.

Flashback

A couple was walking through the park, swinging their intertwinining hands back and forth.

"Oppa, did I tell you what advice my uncle gave me the other day?" asked the girl.

"No, but is it even good advice?"

"I don't know if he was being serious or if it was a joke, but I figured I'd share it with you anyways." she let out a little laugh. "Okay, here's what he said, 'tell all your girlfriends that you have HIV.'"

"Why would you do that if you don't? Seulong questioned. "You don't, right?"

"Of course not! You didn't let me finish!"

"Oh, sorry. Continue."

"The reason you tell your girlfriends is to prevent them from stealing your boyfriend. I mean who would want to steal you from me if they think you have HIV." she stuck out her tongue and then grinned.

"What?! People think I have HIV?!" he exclaimed.

"NO! I was just telling you what my uncle said. Calm down." She laughed. "So if you're afraid of your guy friends 'stealing' me away, you can use this advice."

Seulong let out an uneasy chuckle. He couldn't really laugh at the situation because of the irony that hid beneath it. It was killing him inside. No matter how much he tried to forget about her, he just could not. He hated himself for doing this to Minyong. She was his life's biggest blessing, always doing her best for him. But he couldn't do the same for her. Everytime she spoke, everything she did, her actions and words were always clouded by his wavering thoughts. Maybe his heart has already left Minyong's and begun to love Euncha's.

End of Flashback

I looked at the clock on the wall. There was only five minutes left. Why is it that when I wanted time to slow down, all it seemed to do was speed up. Now that I was watching these last five minutes pass on the clock, it was like watching a kettle boil. Endless. Before I knew it, someone was standing in front of me. I looked up, wiped my sweaty palms, and gave her a welcoming smile.

"Hello," she said with that same sweet smile that always had me hypnotized. Now I understood what they meant by 'she had me at hello.' I stood up, walked to the other side of the table, and pulled the chair out for her.

"I'm glad you decided to come."
"Me too. And I find it sweet that you decided to have our first date here." There it was again. This girl was always smiling. She was like a radiant ball of sunshine. It was contagious. I soon found myself smiling with her.

"I mean, why not? After all, this is where we first met. Why not have our first date here, too."

"Mmhmmm"

The more we talked and shared our life stories, the more sure I was about my decision. The way she looked at me when I spoke, her attentiveness, made me feel like I was on top of the world. Whenever she laughed, there was a sparkle in her eyes. They say that whenever you're in love, you want to share your perspective in life with that person. I wanted to show her my world, and I wanted to see the world from her eyes. She was gentle, kind, and beautiful; she was perfect. And there was nothing that could change the way we felt about one another. I knew I had made the right choice.

Hope you like it! ^-^
