                It took Minho a few minutes until he stopped his fast paced panting. He allowed Onew to rub his back and sing him to sleep. Once he was sure the boy had fallen asleep, Onew brushed Minho’s hair from his face, left the room and went downstairs. Onew was still pretty tired, but the whole incident between Key and Minho made him uneasy.

                It was clear that Key knew nothing of Minho’s situation, but Onew didn’t think Minho would react so violently to something that was said. For the first time, Onew wondered what all of the abuse Minho suffered was.

                He made his way to his bedroom and looked at the picture that he kept by his bed. How would Minho react if he knew that Onew had dated his mother? He sighed, Katherine’s face with his thumb.    

                “Katherine, I wonder what you would do if you knew your son was like this…” He murmured. He kissed the picture and drifted into a troubled sleep.

                                “Jinki…” She said and Onew recognised the voice immediately even though he had not heard it in ten years. She touched his face and kissed his cheek. “How have you been?”

                                He smiled. “It’s okay. I have Minho.” He replied hugging her tightly.

                                “Why? What happened to Minsoo?”

                                Onew couldn’t bear to tell Katherine the truth, that the man she had married abused their son. “He’s gone, Katherine”. It wasn’t a complete lie, but it wasn’t really the truth.

                                “My poor baby,” She said. “Jinki?” When he responded, she held his face. “Did you know I always loved you?” She kissed him deeply. “I’m sorry I left you.”

                                Onew’s heart pounded. “I love you, too.”

                Onew felt bittersweet when he woke up a few hours later. His lips felt warm, as though Katherine had really kissed him. He touched his lips. Weird. He glanced at the clock, realising the time.

                He jumped out of bed. Considering Minho’s mental state, he decided not to wake him up for school. He went to the boys’ room to wake Minki and only after he’d done so did he realise Minho’s bed was empty. He immediately panicked, leaving Minki to go shower.

                He flew down the stairs and his heart flooded with relief when he saw the sleepy Minho tiredly eating cereal.

                He cleared his throat. “Minho? Why are you awake?”

                Minho stirred his cereal. “I wasn’t tired, hyung.” He looked down. “I got ready for school already.”

                Onew blinked. “You want to go to school? You don’t have to because of—“

                “No, I want to go.” Minho said, gulping the last bit down. He got up and walked to the door, grabbing his books and bag on the way. “Bye, hyung.” He quickly left.

                Onew shrugged. “Well, okay. Minki!”

                “What?!” Minki giggled, running to Onew’s side.

                “How about we skip school today?” Onew asked, ruffling the boy’s hair.

                Minki jumped up. “Really? Yes!”

                Onew smiled and kissed Minki’s forehead. “We’ll have a lot of fun today~”
