Gone
Heartless MachineGONE.
SAHEE.
Silence filled the room.
I could hear mom's breath as she pressed the button again.
My grip on Lu Han's arm tightened and I closed my eyes.
“He isn't-” mom began, but she didn't end the sentence.
“No,” I said, barely audible, my eyes still closed, “this can't be.”
My knees got weak, but Lu Han hold onto me tightly.
“I-I just can't do anything for him,” mom said silently.
“There has to be a way.” My sight was blurred as I opened my eyes.
I made some trembling steps forward, leaving Lu Han behind.
“We can't lose him like this,” I said and arrived at the table.
Kai was laying there, just like a puppet. Motionless. Dead.
I lifted my heavy hands and placed them on his cold shoulder blade.
My fingers slid to the power button as I remembered something.
The day, when Kai's finger rested on my power button.
How his cold hands burnt into my skin.
The moment he said, “I'm not going to turn you off.”
I gulped and pressed the power button. Once. Twice.
“It has to work,” I said to myself and pressed it again, longer.
“Sahee-,” mom began and came closer.
“I can't let him leave like this!” I yelled at her and felt how my eyes watered.
I turned his heavy body around, so he was lying on his back again.
His cold eyes were hidden under his eyelids. His cold eyes. Hidden. Dead.
“Why?” I whispered and took his ice-cold hand.
The first teardrop fell silently on the floor.
I tried to swallow my the pain and the tears.
But it didn't stop. They just kept streaming down my face.
“Kai,” I said his name again. “You can't leave me like that.”
I dropped down onto the hard ground, still holding his motionless hand.
“Oppa. We're siblings. Don't you remember?”
I wiped away my tears with the back of my hand.
“You can't leave your sister like that.”
“Please.”
LU HAN.
Sahee sat on the couch, her eyes blank, staring at the ground.
She had stopped to cry, but her expression said that she was still thinking.
About Kai. About everything what had happened.
Kai wasn't here anymore.
He was gone. Forever.
I wasn't Kai's friend. I never had something to do with him.
I knew that he was a machine. That he was like Sahee.
But he was gone.
Forever.
I gulped.
A cold feeling began to spread inside my body.
I knew this feeling. It was so familiar.
Someone dying.
Losing someone.
Chaeri.
