Not human
Heartless MachineNOT HUMAN.
People don't really realize their emotions.
It's an ordinary thing to them.
There's no life without it.
Living without happiness?
Is that possible?
"You look horrible, Sahee," Baekhyun, who was sitting next to me, admitted.
I just nodded, tired. I rubbed my eyes.
"How horrible do I look?" I laughed.
He smiled and said jokingly, "just like a zombie."
I liked Lu Han.
Really, he was a very nice person.
He smiles a lot, he laughs a lot.
He makes me laugh.
He's very mature, even though he looks like a kid.
Minah and I didn't meet for maths anymore.
Why should we? There's no reason anymore.
Not that she now has an A in maths.
She has her new friends.
I found my new friends.
We went seperate ways from now on.
But she still watched me.
I know that.
She still went to the library.
To read books, but mostly because she writes in her book.
She writes about me, obviously.
"Sahee, you are a little ."
Obviously, like I said.
Chaeri loved Lu Han.
Minah loves Lu Han.
Sahee ...
"Ya, Sahee? You wanna play basketball with us?"
Chanyeol waved at me and winked.
"Sorry, Chanyeol-ssi. I'm still doing something for school."
Liar, Sahee. You never do something for school.
"Oh, okay then." He looked a bit disappointed.
"I'll cheer for you, of course."
Chanyeol turned around and smiled at me brightly.
When someone smiles at me, it feels good.
Like something warm floating through my whole body.
It's like a little wave. A warm breeze.
It makes me smile too.
I think it's called 'happiness', right?
Lu Han and I often met after school.
He'd take me into restaurants.
He'd buy me bubble tea.
There was one time he took my hand and squeezed it lightly.
Had the autumn weather last year been as hot as this?
I can't remember. Did I still live at that time?
I can't remember.
"Sahee does very good at school."
I just came home from school.
Silently I closed the door behind me.
"She's made some friends lately too."
The woman was speaking to the doctor in the laboratory.
"I think she acts very natural."
Silence.
The doctor hadn't been saying anything yet.
"She's like a daughter to me."
I smiled. Like a daughter.
The woman Mrs Kim liked me.
"You shouldn't get too close with her."
"What do you mean?"
"Don't forget about what she is. She is just a prototype."
Just a prototype.
"But she-"
"She is not human."
Not human.
"She is just a machine, you know?
Just. A. Machine."
Just a machine.
Just a machine.
My bag dropped on the floor.
Mrs Kim came out of the laboratory, followed by the doctor.
"Sahee? You're home?" she asked surprised.
I stared at the doctor.
Suddenly he looked scared.
Because of me.
My eyes burnt, my face burnt.
"Just a machine," I repeated what I had heard.
Mrs Kim looked to the doctor, who was still shocked.
"Just. A. Machine." The words barely came out of my mouth.
I felt like I was almost exploding.
Just. A. Machine.
The door crashed into the wall, as I opened it.
I wanted to go. Go away. Run away.
"Sahee, come back!" I heard Mrs Kim.
Running.
Away.
It was already getting dark.
If it's getting dark, this place'll be scary.
I didn't had to think about where to go next.
