Chapter 39: Suspicion

[YuJin POV]

I wasn't even pissed that I had to do 100 hours of service and go to rehab. I was pissed because MyungSoo thought he could win this fight. He ruined my image, my image that I spent years creating. If he had just kept his mouth shut--

I clenched my fist tightly around the broomstick. I wanted revenge so badly. How... How could some quiet guy named MyungSoo be the reason why I went from the beauty queen to the trash of the town. And him? He gets all the attention at school because he told everyone that I was the worst being.

Revenge. The word that repeats in my head every day, every hour, every minute, every second--

"Miss YuJin, please finish sweeping the leaves," Mr. Park sighed, "Why are you just standing there?"

I sighed and continued my service hours.

That damned MyungSoo.

Walking into class everyday was the most awkward. All eyes were on me. All the time. Whispers behind my back.

I sit in the library for lunch. No one to sit with in the cafeteria anyway. I glanced over at MyungSoo who always had his head in a textbook.

Revenge.

But how...

What can I do to tear him down?

Perhaps, his weakness...?

Finally arrived home. As I drop my bookbag onto the floor, I hear footsteps.

"Hmph, and where have you been?!"

My mom. Of course.

"School, Mom..."

"Y-You-- I got a call from the school today that you skipped your math class to go get ice cream--"

"What's the point of going to school when I can't even get a job with my record--"

Suddenly, she slapped my cheek. I held it quickly. It was throbbing. I looked up.

"You good-for-nothing," she shouted, "You already got caught for being an idiot, so will you stop causing any more ruckus?! I'm sick of getting phone calls from the stupid school!! I have work, too, you know, and these phone calls waste my time. I don't care if you try in school or not, just stop being a nuisance!!"

She raised her hand before lowering it and storming back to her laptop and continuing to type up paperwork.

I went upstairs quickly and shut the door to my room. Tears welled up in my eyes again.

I looked in the mirror. I hate myself. Am I really a daughter that even her own mother can't love?

I laid down in my bed and pulled over the covers to muffle my sniffling. I heard a knock and then the door creak open. I peeped through. It was our new butler, Hoon. The 3rd one of this month because my mom keeps firing every one who ticks her off the slightest.

"Miss, is it alright if I vacuum your room?" He smiled awkwardly.
