Chapter 44: Awake

[ MyungSoo POV ]

"Try to save yourself now, with your nine lives... if you can, that is."

The last words I heard before I felt myself fall backwards. I shut my eyes and tried to turn into a cat. C'mon... c'mon... Why can't I?

I heard a huge thump, and then, I out.

"He's a really handsome patient. You're a lucky girl," a lady's voice said.

"Thank you..." That was DaIn's voice.

"Hyung, it's me. SungJong... I just wanted to tell you some good news! I'm..."

"It's me, SungGyu. Are you listening? The weather outside is great today..."

"MyungSoo, my son... I miss your voice..."

"Are you dreaming, MyungSoo? About DaIn, I suppose?"

What was going on? I felt a piercing headache. I clenched my fingers. Everything hurt. My body was so sore...

"You alright?"

That was WooHyun's voice. Definitely.

WooHyun, it's me!!

Wait, why can't I talk?

I wiggled my toes. Okay, maybe I can open my eyes.

My vision was out of focus, I looked around frantically until my eyes met a blurry figure I assumed was WooHyun.

"MyungSoo...?" His voice was shaky.

I felt him hold my hand suddenly.

I'm hurting so badly, hyung, can you call the nurse?

WooHyun started sobbing. I squeezed his hand tighter.

Call the nurse... please..

I felt him run out of the room. I was so tired. My eyelids wanted to close again, but I tried to focus. Finally, my eyes focused on the ceiling. Ah, the hospital. Of course, I was probably in the hospital after I fainted.

A doctor came into view, as well as 5 other nurses.

"Hi, MyungSoo, are you feeling okay?"

I feel so much pain...

"... He's not responding," Woohyun said.

"Can you follow my finger...?" The doctor asked.

I watched him move his finger to the right and left.

"MyungSoo, blink if you can hear me."

I blinked.

"Blink once for yes, and two for no... Are you alright?"

I blinked twice. Ah, this is so frustrating.

"Are you in pain?"

I blinked.

"Okay, he's definitely reponsive, check the monitors for..."

I closed my eyes. I was so tired.. I heard the rustling of nurses and doctors moving around. My head was throbbing with pain.

"We'll give you some painkillers, alright?"

Mmhmm... I opened my eyes again and saw WooHyun on the phone.

"Myungsoo's awake..." he cried, "Please hurry..."

I went back to sleep.

I woke up again. It was morning. My eyes moved around... Maybe I can move my neck...

My neck was so stiff but I managed to look down... DaIn was sleeping. Her head was on the bed, and she was sitting in a chair beside me. I tried to slowly move my arm, but it was of no avail. I moved my fingers and slowly dragged it until I reached her head... or close to her head... Well, actually, my arm didn't move at all...
