CHAPTER 27

PHASE 2

It was a bright and shiny day so Taeyong decided to visit his friends at the café. It was one of the days where he had nothing to do at home since his husband usually take his lunch at the office and Haechan was at school. He took the familiar route to the place and confidently rode the subway, three stations later, he finally arrived at the café. Unlike the last time he went where the café was jam-packed, today, only a few customers were inside. Rush hour was over and Taeyong was glad.

Both Doyoung and Ten greeted the newcomer as they heard the door chime dinged. The two smiled the moment they saw who it was.

“Tae!”

“Mr. Jung!”

Doyoung put down the tray of empty coffee cups at an empty table and Ten left the counter to hug their friend as if they haven’t seen him in a long while.

“How are you?” Doyoung started as they settled at their usual spot at the corner of the café.  Taeyong smiled and Doyoung, being a keen observer, immediately noticed that it was forced. He looked at Ten and the Thai got it so he stood up to get something to drink.

“Don’t even try to hide anything, Taeyong, what is it?”

Taeyong looked down and played at the hem of his shirt. He knew that Doyoung wasn’t going to be happy with the news he was about to tell. Ten was still clueless about their marriage set up but he wasn’t going to keep him blind about his latest decision. Taeyong was also sure that Jaehyun was also going to tell his friends.

It didn’t take long when Ten arrived with two steaming hot cups of cappuccino and a tall glass of Yogurt smoothie for Taeyong.

“Winwin got married.” Taeyong blurted out of nowhere and both Doyoung and Ten choked on their coffee.  Ten cursed because his tongue got burnt and Doyoung immediately took some napkins to wipe the liquid off his lap.

“Come again?” Doyoung took the initiative to asked since Ten burnt his tongue so bad that his curses were slurred.

Taeyong laughed at the two guys in front of him, but of course, his laughter lacked humor and this time, Ten noticed it, too. Ten stopped squirming at his seat and Doyoung looked at their friend with a new level of worry. They knew that Winwin could be rebellious but not to the extent that he was going to marry at his young age. The two friends finally understood the pain behind the laughter of their friend and they felt sorry for him.

“Winwin got married, to Nakamoto Yuta,” Taeyong answered and Ten swore not to drink anything whenever his friend was going to tell something. For the second time, he choked on his coffee and Doyoung immediately handed him a napkin to wipe his face.

“God, Taeyong, one more news and I’m going to lose my tongue,” Ten hissed. His tongue was in pain that he had a hard time talking.

“I signed the CMA,” Taeyong blurted for the third time and this time, it was Doyoung who dropped his cup on the table, spilling the warm liquid into his lap. Curses filled that corner of the café and Taeyong couldn’t help but laughed once more as he helped his friends clean the mess they created. Doyoung excused himself for a while to change his pants.

“Okay, one by one," he said as he sat in front of Taeyong once again.

“Winwin got married to Yuta and he left to live with him.” This time, Taeyong failed to hide the sadness in his voice and his eyes got teary. “I’m sorry we didn’t get to invite you, I wasn’t invited, too.”

“I knew it. That kid did nothing but to make you sad. I bet Johnny didn't know about it, too, since he did not tell me about it.”

“They got married in secret. Winwin knows that I don’t like that guy for him, so he didn’t tell me about it.”

“Goodness. That kid, he should’ve told you about it. You are his guardian.” Ten didn’t hide his annoyance with what Winwin did. He was always annoyed with him because of his rebellious actions, especially to Taeyong.

Taeyong bitterly smiled. “Not anymore. He’s officially an adult, so he can do whatever he wants to.”

“But you’re still his brother,” Ten said that earned a nod from the suddenly quite Doyoung. “You have the right to know. The guy Yuta could’ve at least told you about it and ask for your blessings.”

Taeyong just shrugged his shoulders. He still hated Yuta and it was going to stay that way until he proven himself and Taeyong knew that it was going to take a very long time for that to happen. What happened was too painful to forget that easily. It was going to take time. He grew tired of the topic already and he finally accepted that Winwin wasn’t under his roof anymore, but that didn’t mean that he was out of his protection.

A group of teens went inside the café and Ten volunteered to take their orders which left Doyoung alone with Taeyong. It was the opportunity the former was waiting for. Yes, it was surprising that Winwin suddenly got married to a person Doyoung knew nothing about, but Taeyong signing the CMA got his attention. He’d been aching to ask him about it, but Ten was there and it was going to be weird for him if Doyoung was going to react violently.

“You signed the CMA?” It was a statement more than a question to Taeyong, which earned a guilty nod from his friend. “Why did you sign the CMA if you feel nothing to Jaehyun? What were you thinking? Are you really willing to risk your life and your baby to a future with no assurance?”

Taeyong sighed and he took his time in choosing the right words to say to Doyoung. It was really a decision made hastily due to the circumstances Winwin created. He had to think of something that could protect Winwin from Yuta if ever he turned out to be something that Taeyong had imagined. Yuta’s friends with his husband. Yuta was Jaehyun’s best friend and in order to make sure his brother was treated well, he has to have access and a person to look after Yuta and monitor his actions, that person was Jaehyun.

Taeyong needed to have a reason to be with Jaehyun for a long time so he can check on Winwin at all times. Jaehyun could divorce him with one wrong move, but if they have a child, it was going to force his husband to be with him at all times. The government created a new law that once a child was born from a same- marriage, both of the fathers should stay together until the child turned 18. If one of them decided to divorce the other before that, the custody will be granted automatically to the one who carried the child and child support must be given at all cost.

It was a loveless marriage after all so Taeyong had nothing to lose. He needed to sign the CMA to lock his place beside Jaehyun and to make sure that Winwin was going to be treated right.

Taeyong knew he won’t lose the child if one day, Jaehyun decided to leave him. It was easy to say but the thought of Jaehyun leaving him sent an unusual pinch straight into his heart.

“You’re crazy.” It was Doyoung’s reaction after Taeyong told him his reason.

To say that Doyoung was disappointed was an understatement. He was disheartened because the reason behind Taeyong’s decision was not solely because he wanted to have a child. He was willing to bear a child into the world just to protect his brother. He knew Taeyong was going to be a good father and he was going to cherish his child, but it was still wrong. What made it worse was that he wasn’t in love with his husband. Why bring a child in the middle of the chaos?

“It’s Winwin’s decision, why do you have to bring your future child into this mess? You can have a child when you’re ready and with the person, you truly love, not because you have to protect someone who doesn’t even deserve it. You always think about Winwin, but does he even think about you? You gave up your life for him and now you are going to put your life on the line once again for him. Wake up Taeyong, don’t you think it’s time to think about yourself for once?”

Of course, Doyoung knew what he was talking about. He had a child when he was still so young. Everything was a mess back then and everyone around them didn’t want his lover and him to be together. They thought that having a child was going to seal everything and nothing was going to separate them. It was too late when he realized that it was a wrong move. His lover left him hanging, pregnant and without anything. He had no right to force him to stay or ask for child support because they were not married and the guy was nowhere to be found.

Taeyong and his situation might be different but they still thought that signing the CMA and bearing an innocent child was going to solve everything and Doyoung knew it was wrong.

“I have to do this,” was all Taeyong answered.

“You’re being unfair, to yourself, to your future child and to your husband.”

Taeyong was stunned by the statement.

“You don’t even love him. What if he loves you already after spending time with you? It’s not impossible for him to fall in love with you, Tae, and if that already happened, you’re just going to use him for your own benefit.”

Taeyong fisted his hands and slammed them on the table. Fortunately, their table was far from the counter so no one heard him. It was the first time Doyoung saw him angry about his situation but his rage didn't reach his eyes.

“Jaehyun dragged me into this marriage. He should be thankful that I plan to stay and give him a child.”

Doyoung looked at him with doubt. There was something in Taeyong’s eyes and his voice lacked conviction.

“Are you sure you don’t feel anything to your husband?”

Taeyong went silent and leaned back to his seat, anger dissipating. Doyoung continued.

“You told me how he treated you like are a jewel and you felt loved. Are you sure you don’t feel anything for him?”

“I-I…”

“Sort out your feelings, Taeyong, because if the only thing he did wrong was to drag you into marriage but make you feel love and nothing else then the cliché that you are talking about is true after all. Maybe that CEO really fell in love with you that’s why he asked you to marry him. Talk to him. Talk. Sort everything out. Don’t give him a child and make him believe that it’s out of love. Don’t give him a child as a payback for what he did.”

“Why are you suddenly on his side? You were against him back then.”

Doyoung answered those questions in a form of advice.

“Why don’t you ask for some time alone? Why don’t you tell him you need time for yourself to think? What’s best is to tell him about your real feelings. If you don’t really love him like your mouth is saying, tell him and leave him and if he decided to sue Haechan, then you know what to do. But if he let you go without any conditions, then that will answer everything.”

“Doyoung.”

Fear. Doyoung saw fear and hesitation in Taeyong’s eyes. It was not fear for what was going to happen to Haechan but fear of something else. The former continued.

“If he truly loves you, Tae, he will protect Winwin for you with or without a baby, because the moment he signed your marriage certificate, Winwin and Haechan also became his brothers, his responsibility, and his family.”

Doyoung saw it. Doyoung saw something that Taeyong was still unaware of. He just needed to be stirred into the right direction and everything will fall into their right places.

“You can always have your baby when you know what you really feel about him and what he feels about you,” Doyoung ended when he saw Ten approaching them after serving their customers.

Ten opened up the topic of CMA again. Doyoung could see that Taeyong was still in his deep thoughts, probably contemplating what his friend said, but Doyoung knew already. He had been friends with him for years already so he knew that Taeyong’s weakness were his brothers so he knew and was sure about it.

Taeyong was not going to listen to him.

The next morning, Taeyong planned to see Haechan and tell him about his decision, but the kid already left for school and Jaehyun told him to get ready because they were going to the hospital. Since the CMA was already signed by the both of them, Yunho took it for approval. After it was approved, a letter was sent to Jaehyun stating the schedule of the administration of the P2. It was that day.

Before starting the engine of his car, Jaehyun held Taeyong’s hands tightly after he fastened both of their seatbelts. Taeyong looked at him with questioning eyes.

“Are you really sure about this, love?” Jaehyun asked. “We can always ask for another schedule if you are still not ready since it’s too sudden. The CMA is valid for a year so we have a lot of time or, y-you can still change your mind if you want to.”

Taeyong put his left hand on top of Jaehyun’s hand that was holding him and gently squeezed it. He smiled and that gave Jaehyun the assurance that his husband wasn’t going to change his mind.

Jaehyun knew that his husband was still feeling down about Winwin so he couldn’t feel so happy about his husband’s decision even if he wanted to jump for joy. He already told Haechan about it and the younger was happy for them, albeit his smile was also forced because of what happened. Haechan gave him his blessing and promised to help whenever they need him.

The thought of being a father made Jaehyun so excited. Even if his happiness wasn’t a 100% percent because his husband was crying in his arms, it still left him sleepless. All of a sudden, he saw himself and Taeyong with a small bundle of joy in their arms and that thought made him smile.

Taeyong noticed his light mood and the constant appearance of his dimples while driving so he couldn’t help but asked,

“Are you happy?”

If only Jaehyun could kiss him while driving, he was going to do it but he wasn’t going to put both of their lives in danger, especially now that they already took the first step into having a child. He thought Taeyong was going to take his time in signing the CMA. Jaehyun also prepared himself for the worst. He prepared himself if Taeyong decided not to sign it in the near future or not at all. His prayers were answered and the document was signed. He so he was happy, very happy.
Jaehyun gave his husband a huge smile while he nodded.

Unknown to him, that smiled actually sealed Taeyong’s decision. Doyoung’s words stirred his emotions and he had a hard time sleeping that night. After he saw his husband’s smile, his doubt came out the window. How can he change his mind if one decision can make Jaehyun that happy? His heart became light and that moment, Taeyong knew that he made the right decision.

***

“No after the drug is given. I repeat, Jaehyun, you are not allowed to touch him after the drug is given,” Dr. Park Raemi, the wife of Park Yoochun, uncle of Johnny and a male pregnancy expert, repeated for the umpteenth time already. Jaehyun just rolled his eyes which earned a soft giggle from Taeyong who was already lying on the hospital bed, in his lab gown, like he was.

Dr. Park was going to administer the P2 drug to Taeyong. She made the man lay on his back as he prepared his equipment and put a medical mask on. She didn’t have assistant since she had done it for countless of times already and it wasn’t a difficult or a dangerous process in the first place. He was just going to inject the drug and then they could leave.

“Okay, Taeyong-sshi, I need you to spread your legs,” she said and both couples’ eyes grew like saucers.

Taeyong squeezed his husband’s hands extra hard that Jaehyun actually hissed in pain. Taeyong suddenly paled at the statement and hesitation was evident on his face.

He was taking so long and Dr. Park understood. Taeyong was like any other guys that he injected.

“Why does he need to spread his legs?” Jaehyun knew that his husband wasn’t wearing anything besides that lab gown, and although they were alone in that room, he wasn’t going to let anyone see that only him was allowed to see. “You’re just going to inject the drug.”

Jaehyun was like a nephew to Dr. park since Johnny was one of his best friends so the urge to slap him hard on the head was strong, but she stopped himself since Taeyong was already getting scared.

“Where do you think the drug will be injected, you moron,” The doctor hissed at his nephew. That shut the CEO up.
Jaehyun and Taeyong looked at each other, though both nervous, Jaehyun kissed his already sweaty forehead and whispered that it was going to be okay, although he was nervous as well. He held his hand tightly.

Taeyong took a very deep breath and nodded at the doctor as he slowly spread his legs. He reddened at the action, but the lack of reaction from the doctor made him relax a bit. Jaehyun was the only one who saw that part of him so it was really embarrassing to show it to the doctor, who also happened to be a female.

Dr. Park nodded back and took a huge syringe from her side table. Instead of a needle, it had a clear, thin tube, about 8 inches long with a clear liquid inside. Jaehyun saw the size and his eyes grew wide again. He suddenly felt bad for his husband. Fortunately, Taeyong had no idea about the size so he had no idea what to expect. Jaehyun gave an assuring smile to his husband and squeezed his hand once again.

“You’re going to feel a little pain but it's going to be alright, Taeyong-sshi. Don’t move so we can finish faster.” She then inserted the long clear tube into his hole. Taeyong wanted to squirm because he felt uneasy and it was uncomfortable but he stopped himself from moving, afraid it was going to take them longer with one small movement.

At first inches, Taeyong felt fine but as it was getting deeper and deeper, as deep as Jaehyun had reached and felt it inserted into him, he couldn’t hide the pain and his other hand reached for his husband.

“J-Jae…” Taeyong hissed in pain but the doctor still continued.

“Don’t move Taeyong or I’m going to have to pull it out and do it again," the doctor warned so Taeyong just bit his lips and endured the pain.

Jaehyun felt useless because he couldn’t even help his husband. The doctor continued inserting until the tube was almost buried inside Taeyong’s hole.

“I just reached your prostate and I’m going to inject this drug so it could numb it before I inject the P2.”

“You mean, that’s not the P2, yet?” Jaehyun asked but the doctor ignored him and injected the liquid inside Taeyong, earning a painful cry from him. Jaehyun took out his handkerchief and wiped Taeyong's teary eyes and sweaty forehead.

The doctor immediately pulled the tube out and gently pulled Taeyong’s legs down to the bed and told him to relax.  She then rolled a machine next to her that looked like an ultrasound machine and instructed Jaehyun to pull his husband’s lab gown up to expose his belly. Jaehyun reluctantly followed. Taeyong was still recovering from the pain to even react. Dr. Park then poured a liquid gel into his belly and ran the transducer probe pf the machine above his belly, looking for a specific part. The doctor was so focused that Jaehyun decide not to ask anymore questions. Her eyes moved from Taeyong to the machine. When she found what she was looking for, she pressed down the specific part of Taeyong's belly and gently massaged it. Taeyong felt nothing, the liquid numbed the area already.

Without removing the transducers probe from the specific part, she took another syringe. This time, it was a normal size and a normal looking one and with another clear liquid inside. With one swift movement and without taking eyes off the monitor, she inserted the syringe with the liquid into Taeyong, just below his belly button. He didn’t feel any pain and Jaehyun was glad it was over when he saw her full out the needle. She wiped Taeyong’s belly and put gauze on the punctured part of his belly and taped it securely.

Jaehyun helped Taeyong put his clothes back and the doctor told them the after-effects of the drug.

“The after-effects will be severe, Jaehyun, so you need to stay by your husband’s side at all time. It will last for 2-3 weeks. The drug will activate the organs the P1 drug develop years ago and it will be painful.”

The doctor continued to talk and explained how it worked but Jaehyun’s focused was on his husband and how he could make him feel better as he experienced those effects. He didn’t hear the rest of what the doctor said but it was okay since he can always call her anytime for help.

Dr. Park told them to leave the hospital immediately and make sure to reach home before the drug takes effect. Jaehyun wanted to ask why but they were literally pushed out of the hospital by their doctor. He only found out why when the moment they were about to enter the elevator into their house, Taeyong lost consciousness.
