Night Walk

Late nights are plenty, with the busy days rolling in. There is hardly any time for fun since it is just work, work and more work. Even so, the boys love it, as music is their passion and they have bonded as a tight family.
“Guys, I’m going out for a bit,” muses Jae aloud, his speaking heard by everyone else.
“A night walk?” questions Sungjin, coming out of the kitchen with a warm beverage. “It’s rather late though. It’s already ten.”
“Well, maybe the old one wants to do some thinking,” teases Brian with a lazy flop on the sofa, facedown. “I’d say it’ll do him good. Bring Miso along for a stretch too.”
Miso’s ears perk up, his tail wagging in anticipation. The conversation went a little too quick for his comprehension but it certainly sounds like Brian helped him to get permission to go out. As an expression of his thanks, he jumps on the said boy.
“Why Miso, why,” complains Brian with a light and playful glare, turning his body so that he could face the dog.
“He probably wanted to say thank you,” says the grinning Dowoon, picking up the excited dog and setting him on the floor, thus saving the other boy.
“Have fun Jae Jae,” coos Wonpil, causing a shiver to run down the oldest’ spine.
“I am definitely going out now,” says Jae as he hastily tied his shoes and exited with Miso.
They walk the night, quiet as they did not stay near the nightclub areas. That would be disastrous for their sleep. Shadows lurk at light’s edge, but no distress is felt by either one of them. Eventually, he decides to sit on the bench facing the town square.
“Hey Miso,” the boy says at last with a fading smile. “I can’t sleep lately. I thought a walk would tire me enough for tonight, at least.”
Miso curls beside Jae on the bench, listening to the boy’s words. They sound melancholic and blue. He the boy’s hand as a form of support. The boy, he almost smiles but he does not. Instead, he averts his gaze to the sky above.
The clock strikes eleven, the sudden noise causing both of them to flinch.
“Shall we go home, or stay a little longer, Miso?” questions Jae solemnly.
