The dog stretches himself before making a dash toward the noise. While Yeong is still a relatively new addition into the Day6 household, they did have a certain sense of routine. After all, humans are creatures of habit. What would they be otherwise?

Yeong blinks, having met a boy pocketing a set of keys and feet slipping into ready shoes. His voice, it falls quietly with a smile wide.

“Yeong,” says Dowoon. “Let’s go for a little sunrise walk?”

The little dog barks excitedly, causing the boy to rush the dog to keep quiet.

“Wait until we get outside,” reasons Dowoon, wearing a cap as a last-minute thought.

The city, often known for its busyness, has a different look at sunrise. Bars have closed, but shops have yet to open. It is a time period in which almost nothing is going on, other than the occasional jogger. Aside from the need to warn Yeong for disturbing innocent birds looking for early worms, everything else is good. Dowoon, noticing that the sun is about to rise properly, breaks into a run. The dog follows, thinking it to be a game.

They reach a small patch of green that is slightly elevated. The boy with the cap laughs before taking a seat. He extends a hand to Yeong who nibbles it affectionately.

“Do you see that light?” asks Dowoon aloud in wonder. “There’s just something great about watching the city wake up. It makes me feel like today’s going to be a good day. And I can’t really share this moment with anyone… even if it’s special. Sometimes I just need it, for me.”

His voice dips with a hint of sadness, but Yeong barks, wearing a smiley-looking face. Dowoon pulls him into an impromptu hug.

“Aih, real cute,” he mutters. “Come on, if any of the shops are open I’ll get you a treat for coming out with me. But don’t let my dogs at home know, or they’ll be super jealous, okay?”
