Race
Every Day With Day6“Sungjin, why are you the only one who’s not running?” complains Jae petulantly.
“I’m taking care of our dog,” says the leader with a cheeky grin, rubbing the pet affectionately.
“I could do that,” says Dowoon with a squint.
“Why thank you, but no, not right now,” jokes the leader in response.
The Day6 members are having a break from recording music and their other duties. They have been advised to do some exercise since they have been cooped up the studio lately. Thus, they are at the field, booked beforehand by the company. Some laps are being run but the offender, otherwise the leader, is taking a timeout by taking care of the dog.
“Leader, don’t abuse your authority,” says Brian with a smirk.
“Go running with me, Sungjin,” says Wonpil mournfully.
Sungjin laughs. He is not lazy, per say, but he finds it rather nice to be able to look at the team without him inside at times. Even simple running enables him to smile. Therefore, it is no wonder why he would want to stay in this moment for a while longer. Yet they cut him no slack.
“Okay, okay,” muses Sungjin, getting up. His hand slips and the dog wriggles out.
“Do you want to race?” asks Dowoon gently to the sesame dog, patting the head. The dog barks in delight.
“That’s settled then,” announces Wonpil cheerfully. “Let’s run!”
As the dog and Sungjin have been watching the others run, the track is known. Though small and young, the dog outpaces the members easily. The dog is rascally enough to turn back and wait with a smiley face before running onward once they are closer.
Finally, the dog drops himself onto a warm patch of grass and curls comfortably. The members draw to a slow walk in hopes of leaving the dog undisturbed.
“You little ball of mischief!” laughs Sungjin. “How about we call him Seung for victory? He can’t go nameless forever.”
“Sounds good,” agrees Jae.
The rest nod as well.
“Well, that’s that,” declares Sungjin. “Seung, are you ready for another run? We’ll definitely win this time.”
