INTERMISSION 1
Brian's Song
My lovely readers. Allow me to take a pause here & share some personal experience of mine.
On 30 Nov 2017, my family & I (me, hubby & our 4 kids - 7yo, 13yo, 16yo & 17yo) plus my 81yo dad & my 40yo 'lil' brother took a trip to Seoul for a 6 day holiday. Since we've been to Korea before, this trip was a purely k-pop experience trip for us with planned itinerary that included Melon Music Awards, SMTown, CoexAtrium, big3hunting (SM, JYP, YG), CDs & Merchandise shopping etc. Dad just came to enjoy the food & short walks in winter.
We booked our flight back home for 6 Dec, which really had me slapping my forehead cos I would miss the Day6 final release & mini concert on time. But to me, that's ok, cos I can just watch them later when I arrived home. But I would also miss on buying Moonrise at a cheaper local premises.
But the Lord moves in mysterious ways.
On our 4th day there, my dad collapsed & had to be rushed to the hospital & undergo an emergency open heart surgery. He had a few torn aortas. It was a chaotic, heart pounding yet numbing 2 whirlwind days for us, & we had no choice but to extend our stay til my big brother arrives to help out.
My dad made it thru the operation successfully but is still recuperating in ICU, before we can transfer him out & bring him back home. I had to return home with the kids a day ago while my two brothers stayed back to sort things out. Now at home, I'm tasked with getting the finances thru via telegraphic transfer, preparations on how to fly dad home safely, the local receiving doctors ready & my dad's house clean to welcome him home.
The korean doctors, nurses & international bureau, the hotel staff, my embassy people, my family back home & everyone have been great with their respective help, support & love. It was a traumatic experience & continues to be heart thumping day to day progress for us, but I know we will make it thru.
So in the end, I did manage to listen to Day6's 'I Like You' on time of their release - at 12.01 Korean time to be exact (instead of being on the plane for home). It was a bittersweet experience; but Day6 kept me calm & that made me love them even more. Their additional 2 new songs, Better Better & I'll Try, lifted my spirits even more - to not give up & have faith. Like I said, the Lord moves in mysterious ways & I believe He tested us because He knows we are capable of taking this test.
So, please help me pray for my dad's well being & that my lil brother stay strong while keeping him company there. Even sharing this with you is helping me stay sane & hopeful.
Thank you, chingus & god bless everyone!
(Will continue the coming chapters as soon as I can...dun worry... I won't ever abandon Brian's Song. Thank you again for being here with me)
