The word spreads around the whole village. You'll be having an important dinner with your parents. Usually, this could mean a few things, you'll either be appointed as ruler of the kingdom or you'll be arranged in a marriage. But everyone knew it would most likely be the second one because you're of the age to be married off. That means the whole village will be having dinner at the kingdom and parents from different kingdoms and villages will present their children to your parents to judge. It didn't matter guy or girl, they just had to fit the requirements you parents had for them. You obviously didn't have a choice in picking who you want to marry otherwise you wouldn't have agreed to be married. 

" You're now twenty which means you're of age. " Your mother says. 

You nod. 

" You know what this means don't you? " Your asks 

" I'll be getting married. " You reply 

Your mother nods. 

Your mother can tell what are your thoughts on this because your expression says it all. She sighs and puts down her utensils. 

" My dear child, look at me. " Your mother says 

You look at her. 

" You know I'm not like your father who wants to send you to someone with the most power. What I want is for you to marry someone you genuinely like. I know you don't want this. However, this isn't something we can change when it's been going on for a long time. So at the party, I'm giving you the freedom of choosing someone you like. I should at least give you that freedom if I'm already forcing you into a marriage. " Your mother states 

You nod. 

" Thank you, mother. " You remark 

Your father and you didn't have the best relationship. He married your mother just for power. Anyone could tell. He didn't care about what happened in the kingdom as long as his power as the king didn't drop. He made your mother deal with all the royal matters while he was drinking. He was an alcoholic and sleeps with multiple of the servants you would know because his room was across from yours. You didn't tell your mother but you know she already knows and she could care less. As long as he stops bothering her for more things. A few days ago, he was killed. Since he was meeting another kingdom and ends up sleeping with someone of royal power who's already married. He contacted your mother but your mother didn't say anything but if he's a royal ruler then he shall follow what the royal rules are. So he had his head chopped off in public. You wonder why your mother doesn't look for someone else. But she says she's happy this way so you don't bother. 

" Child, I'm never going to let you go through what I went through. As your mother, I want to give you the best. That means I hope you'll find someone you like at the party. I could care less about the gender. I just want to see you happy. " Your mother says 

You nod and your mother smiles. 

" So in the next few days, the dresser will be around often to make your clothes for the party night. " Your mother states 

" Yes, mother. "

The night of the party comes. Your mother walks into your room to see the dresser and their assistants helping you with your outfit. Your mother smiles as she sees you in your outfit. 

" You've grown up so much. It seems like it was yesterday where I first held you. " Your mother states 

" Mother! " You whine while she chuckles 

" Alright, now that you're ready we must go. There are people waiting for us. " Your mother remarks
