Jonghyun had caught a real bad cold in the summer and had to take a few days off work because his voice was really hoarse and it was painful for him to talk. He had a stuffy, running nose and a fever too and that meant Jinki was not letting him do anything, well, except letting him use the toilet.

Taemin was confused, watching Jinnie wrap his appa in a blanket, put a cold cloth on his head and sometimes press his head when he said it was hurting. He lingered around worried, despite Jonghyun saying that he was sick and if he got close, he would get sick too.

Jinki knew Taemin wanted Jonghyun and he kept peeking into the room, confused and worried so he distracted him by telling him to draw something for Jonghyun because it can make him feel better. And the silly boy was drawing and drawing and kept showing them to Jonghyun who would just settle for a little poke to his cheek before saying thank you.

Jinki had adjusted his schedule so he could work from home till Jonghyun was well. When two days had passed and Jonghyun’s fever had subsided, Jinki completely shushed Jonghyun and slept beside him, engulfing him in his arms on finding him shiver a little, “Shh, you’ve been on antibiotics for 48 hours, your cold is not contagious now.”

They were watching tv on a low volume together the next afternoon. Jonghyun had given up to Jinki’s words and was not shooing them away but he still wore a mask to be careful. Taemin was playing on the carpet with his blocks and Jonghyun was falling in and out of sleep so Jinki let him use his lap as a pillow as he softly massaged his head.

Suddenly Jinki’s phone rang and he received the call, talking softly, clicking his tongue and throwing his phone on the other sofa in slight frustration and getting back to watching tv as he Jonghyun’s head. But Jonghyun had heard the conversation and he opened his eyes, “Go, I’ll be fine, it’s just a cold.”

“Last time you caught a cold you had collapsed.”

“Yeah because I was dehydrated and my throat hurt so much I hadn’t eaten or drank anything. I was stupid
