The actual world was once ethereal. Full of energy and life in its purest of forms. Nature, the origin of everything. The ancient envisioned their world in solely two halves - masculine and feminine. There were no gods, no goddesses. Only two halves that keep the balance of power; Yin, and Yang. When both powers were balanced, there was harmony in the world. And when they were unbalanced, there was chaos. Humans, the ancients, knew how to use the power given from nature. They were able to bend it to their wishes, use it for their own purposes, never with any ill feelings against anyone. Through the power, they got protected, healed, cured of the illnesses thanks to nature's life force and got the companionship they needed, animals, and the adviser, the spirits. And in return, they tended to their environment, helped nature stay pure of anything, Spirits lived in peace, being nothing but friends to those in need. They existed in every form possible, water-spirits, fire-spirits. The spirits of the earth, the sand, health. But there were only seven real core spirits; the Elements. Those seven were different. Differently, then the spirits, they had bodies, not just a shape. And only one of those seven truly regretted and hated what she was. Yin hated to be Yin. She wanted to be human, normal, accepted. Included in everything. She wanted to be respected, cherished. But she wasn't and she would never be for she would never be able to change who she really was. The darkness, the night. Everything her beloved twin was, she wasn't. She wasn't always happy and joyful, social and outgoing. She wasn't the light the humans loved to have around. She was the complete opposite. She was hated, an outcast, left alone. Yang had everyone, she had only him and yet she was still alone. And nobody could change that. Yin was present, unchangeable, always present; everywhere. And whatever happens to her will happen to all. The universe made sure of that. It will always make sure of that. * Yin preferred to be left alone, as ironic as that may sound. But that doesn't mean complete isolation. She only had something against being the center, in the spotlight. She rather loved to be in a corner somewhere, able to hear and watch the things going on. She loved watching her twin entertain little children, help elders with whether he can or hear him joke around with anyone that needed an escape from their problems. Yin, though, was just not someone who talked a lot, she was the type to listen. While Yang is the masculine, hard, active, light counterpart, Yin was darkness, passive, smooth, and feminine. Yin was the wise one, the element the humans could get the best advice from. Yet only rarely people did. And when doubts over doubts started to fill her mind, that questioned herself, her existence, her value, the balance changed. Chaos was ought to break out. This time in form of green jealousy. The other elements, well only four of them, grew angrier, greedier, with each passing day they saw Yin spend her time with one of theirs. Showing him her powers she rarely used. The kind of power people could only wish to possess, she hated. Jin, the core spirit of metal, was probably the only one Yin accepted as an acquaintance. He would often just sit beside her, not a tone leaving his lips. It was his presence that gave her a feeling of being liked, wanted. Jin was the only one she would ever consider her friend and the four others didn't like that one bit. Huŏ was ill-tempered. Just like the element he was representing. The fire was always unpredictable. But his anger was spreading, infecting the others around him. Mù was the first one to get influenced. Just as fast as wood would catch fire, so did he. The element of earth, Tŭ, was fast to follow. The only one being reluctant was Shuĭ. It wasn't in the nature of water to get aggressive without a reason, a trigger. But it was soon him, who came up with that idea. He knew what to do against their ill feelings: corrupt the minds of those dear to her. If not Yang and Jin, then the next best thing, the humans she loved. It was in Yin's essence, in her power, in the nature of her being to help the humans. To be there to watch over the balance, so that their life would go on without any problems. So that they could live in peace. Connecting her powers and silent nature of her being a
