♥~Chapter Fifty-Five~♥

His Personal Maid

Sehun leaned against wardrobe closet of his young mister who was frowning at his own reflection that he’s seeing from his full body length mirror. He smiled to himself after seeing Mark having troubles with formal wear and not knowing how to tie and tie properly.

The older of the two moved forward and took charge. He held the wine red tie in his hand and tied the tie for Mark who sighed in relief and let him do what he wanted. Once Sehun was finished, he brushed down the collars of Mark’s dress shirt and moved back.

“I always wanted to know what you’ll look like with as a groom.” Sehun confessed, “I guess this is close enough.”

Mark snorted and strutted to where his pair of socks and shoes was lined up by the maids that came beforehand. He wore his socks first then looked at Sehun. “Wait for a few more years Sehun. I’m not thinking of getting married young.”

Sehun laughed a little and nodded his head. He ushered Mark to scatter across the seat that he was sitting on and plopped himself on the extra space. He hummed a song while waiting for the teenage boy to wear his shoes in which he did in such a snail-like pace.

“Is this the right thing?” Sehun broke the silence and asked the question that everyone has been thinking in their mind but didn’t word it out to Mark. He knew Mark best and he needed his answers as well.

“Are you sure you won’t regret this?”

Mark shrugged his shoulders. “I’m not sure what’s right or wrong anymore. How did you know hyung? How did you know that Hayoung noona was the one?”

“This is going to sound cheesy but I trusted my heart. We married young and I regret that I can’t provide a proper support for her but she’s happy and healthy and that’s all I need.”

Mark laughed and joked around that Hayoung has been stressed a lot these days and one of the main reason that she was irritated was because of her husband. Sehun pushed him playfully and argued that it wasn’t true.

“Yeah we fight,” Sehun agreed then looked at Mark, “but we always make up. Remember that time when we had a huge fight and you witnessed it? We managed to work it out together and came to a conclusion that made the two of us happy.”

“There will always be those bad days Yien, but it doesn’t mean you give up.” Sehun patted Mark on the back and stood up. “Hurry up and fix your hair or something. The guest will be here soon so I need to help out the other workers.”

Mark waved the older male out of the room and remained sat. It was no doubt that Sehun was lecturing him earlier and all of Sehun’s words continuously circled his mind and replayed over and over again. He hated that Sehun had to mention Mark’s struggles because Mark can’t stop thinking about it and now he feels more unsure and less happy with his decision.

He agreed with the marriage and the collaboration. That meant that they would have to have a celebration of approval and the papers will be official. It used to be just ‘do it for the family. Do it for the company’ however these days its ‘do it for Sarah, do it for yourself.’

It wasn’t a lie that he has a soft spot for Sara. They had too many memories together that he will never forget. Sara has been nice to him even if she had ruined his friendship. Sara was kind after all. He noticed that ever since Yoojin left she’s been quieter and simply tried fixing 6Mix’s and Got7’s reputation and apologised for what she did all by herself.

Got7 and 6Mix wasn’t happy of course but since everything was sorted they couldn’t ignore her effort. They weren’t friends and they never talk together, but being nothing was better than being enemies.

Sara liked him a lot. She constantly says it and Mark could feel it, see it and understand her feelings. He was flattered that after all these years she still feels the same. It sounded impossible at first but Sara was the real-life evidence. Maybe, just maybe Mark could start liking her too.

Sara deserved to be happy. Mark isn’t sure if that means that she would be happier with him who still doesn’t feel the same or be with someone who can give her as much love as they receive.

Either way, it was too late now. Too late to back out and cancel the party. Too late to say sorry to Sara since he already told her he’ll do it. Too late to go back to the old times.

Mark opened the door and found the two girls that told him earlier that they we’re going to be his hairstylist for the event. They entered the room with their equipment and Mark sat where they told him too.

Sara was greeting the visitors who were mostly accomplices with the Tuan’s and Li’s company business. Most of them were old chairmen or a person just below it. Still, almost everyone held an important label and job that would be crucial if they had a bad first time impression of her.

“You look gorgeous.” Sehun winked at her when she passed him. She rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out before asking where Mark disappeared to.

He excused himself a while ago saying that he needed to grab a drink and have a little breather and be apart from the crowd of people that seem to be getting larger as the minutes go past. Sara doesn’t blame him. It was getting a bit hectic and suffocating inside the main area.

The interior designers made the first floor of the house to be almost like a ball area, except there wasn’t anyone dancing in the middle. It was almost like prom that Sara and Mark knew about back in the states. There was a long table of catered food and table on the corner of the area and even a small stage or step if anyone was to announce something.

The furniture that were originally there was hid in the massive shed in the backyard. It was amazing how they all fit together.

Sara finally found him hiding in the very corner of the room with his back turned against the crowd. She giggled at his lame tactics to hide since his awkward stance made him stoodd out rather than blend in.

“Is the wall that interesting?”

Mark spun on his heels and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. Sara handed him a glass which he gladly took and drank it in one shot.

“Everyone is so intimidating. I feel scared to talk to anyone just in case my breath stinks or if I start to smell. I poured around half of cologne on this suit already you know.” Mark fanned himself and tippy-toed to see what was going on.

Sara hid a giggle behind her palm and led him to the backyard where it was kept empty.

It was getting near the sunset so the sky was very pretty. The guest and the party had started around an hour ago so there was still more time left to go.

She used Mark to keep herself balance while she took of her heels. Mark laughed and then offered to carry the pair in his hands. He felt bad for girls, he knew it was their decision to wear such cruel high heels but it looked so painful and irritating.

“I feel like I’m going to die wearing that.” She glared at her heels that Mark had in his left hand. Mark chuckled and the two started to walk. Sara was more than happy to stroll around barefooted.

“That’s our fountain.” She pointed at the fountain that they used to always go to nearly every day. They even carved a name to show that they owned the area and the fountain itself. The two of them would have never thought that they’ll visit it again together.

It wasn’t so the water flow wasn’t working since it was winter and the water would most likely freeze up anyway. They sat down on the outside and took in the fresh air.

“It’s quite chilly isn’t it? Aren’t you going to offer your coat?” Sara said.

Mark immediately realised that she was only wearing a dress and nothing to covered her bare arms. He hurried to shrug off his coat but she laughed at him.

“Its fine. Don’t take it off.” she tugged the material to hug Mark’s body once again. “if it was Yoojin you wouldn’t have needed her to mention it because I bet you would’ve taken off your jacket and lend it to her the moment you two step outside.”

Mark’s face fell hearing the tone she spoke in. He watched her rub his coat slowly. She kept on feeling the soft fabric underneath her palm. It was warm and Mark felt like a puppy getting caressed, but he couldn’t shake off the bitterness and hurt in her voice.

“Why are you doing this? Didn’t I already agree to this marriage?”

“But you don’t want to. You don’t want this. Why should I be happy if you’re not happy?” She lifted her eyes to meet his and her eyes were especially sparkly at that moment. Mark gulped. Sara was getting teary.

“Don’t you watch movies or dramas Mark? Do you know lines that goes ‘if you’re not happy, then I’m not happy’? Sure it’s mostly the male leads that say that, but females feel that too.” Sara smiled a little at her own cheesiness, “I’m feeling that right now.”

Light footsteps disrupted their conversation and Sara turned to the person with her hands still on Mark. Mark blinked and wondered why Sehun was walking up to them all of the sudden.

“Sara…”

“Yeah.” She nodded as though she understood exactly what Sehun was saying without him talking much. Mark could only watch in confusion as the two of them exchanged knowing gazes. After a few moments, Sara softly asked Sehun to go inside while the two of them will follow him in a short while.

Mark was helping her wear her heels again and Sara was back to her feet. She was holding his arms tightly for balance as they slowly made their way inside. Sara’s soft pat made Mark look down towards her and she suddenly kissed him on the cheeks lightly. Her lips only brushing his cheek before disappearing.

“I like you a lot. I want you to know that.”

Mark nodded lightly, “I do. Of course I do.”

“Then that’s all I need.” She smiled and when they entered the house she separated from him saying that she needed to do something important.

Mark watched her closely and saw that she was following Mark to the opposite side of the house. Mark saw that the guests were gathering at the middle of the floor, whispering to one another.

The teenager trailed behind and waited until he spotted the reason why they were there. Sara was up on the little stage. She was holding a mic and was tapping the top to check if it was checking. After a few short inhales and exhales she started to speak.

Sara introduced herself and acted as a host and welcome the guest and thanked them for taking their time out to congratulate the two teenagers and the two companies’ collaboration. Then after the guest applauded her, the look of Sara’s eyes changed and she was looking at her parents directly before trailing ever-so-slowly to Mark.

“I would like to apologise however.”

Mark stood up better as his ears perked up. The guest started to hum into buzzes of confused questions and whispers. He could feel and hear them looking and talking about him. Mark was too focused on trying to read Sara’s eyes to care.

“I’m sorry but I’m cancelling the arrange marriage. I know that the celebration for today was focused on the collaboration but I also know that all of you heard about Mark and I. This is sudden and I’m sorry to inform you all of the sudden but yes, there will be no marriage anymore.” Sara spoke clearly and carefully.

Mark always admired her to her confidence in front of others. It was something that drew her to him. She was always so ready to face anyone and any situation. She was a powerful individual. However, Mark could see her eyes sparkling even brighter and more obvious than before when they were outside.

Sara was about to cry but she was still talking as though nothing is happening. Sara continuously apologised and even bowed. She laughed when one of the guests joked around that he was happy since he wanted to set her up with his son.

Mark could hear the emptiness in her voice.

“As I was saying. We, Mark and I, both talked it out and this was for the better. We’re both happy this way and-”

“What do you think you’re saying?” Mark couldn’t stop himself. He was flustered that she was breaking off something that she always wanted. Why would she cancel it? Why would Sara act like it’s okay and say she was happy?

“It’s okay Mark.” She smiled at him. “I know you still like Yoojin. I know that whatever I’ll do I can’t compete with her and that’s okay. I’m okay with that.”

Mrs Li and Mr Li stood up on stage and Sara was held by her father. “We’re sending Sara back to America as a special request from Sara herself. She would like to focus on studying from now on and live in the country she feels more comfortable in.”

“Hear that Mark?” Sara chuckled, “I’m leaving you again but this time I promise that I won’t wait for two years to come and visit again. You better be happy because I’m moving to the other side of the world because of you.”

“Sara why-”

“I’ll trust Yoojin in your hands. And I hope I can trust you with her.”

Sara wasn’t looking at Mark anymore. She was smiling towards the opened front door. Mark turned around when everyone else did. He almost lost his balance when he saw who joined the ceremony.

☺☺☺☺☺☺

Yoojin still found the way 6Mix was talking and acting around her. However, she just kept quiet and let Cecilia drive in peace. Nayeon was on the phone with someone and the rest were in their own little world.

They all looked relaxed. She was the only one squirming in her sit feeling like she need to go toilet whenever she thinks about being in a group blind date.

“Calm down Yoojin.” Jukyung laughed. She couldn’t stand Yoojin panicking any longer and held her down. Yoojin groaned and let her head fall helplessly on her shoulders while complaining using incoherent words.

“We’re here anyway.” Cecilia turned to the right and Yoojin’s tummy started to flip.

Nayeon was still talking on the phone and started to comb her hair using her fingers when she heard what Cecilia said. “Hear that? We’re here so get out as well.”

“You must be close with the others,” Yoojin commented when Nayeon hanged up. “Judging by the way you speak, you must be close.”

“Oh we’re close alright.” Nayeon stole a glance at Lena who was stifling a laugh and opened up the minivan.

Yoojin was pushed out of the car and she immediately recognise where they were. They were right in front of the Tuan’s residence and the two cars that were parked beside them had six boys that were wiggling their brows at her.

“What the heck do you guys think you’re doing?” Yoojin asked. Her voice cracked in the middle of her speech since she was too shocked about the situation.

Bambam walked towards her and curled a hair behind her ear, “you should be dolled up more. You look nice.”

“Welcome back pretty noona.” Yugyeom joked and Yoojin wanted to kick him but she was wearing a dress so she held herself back.

She wanted to go back inside the van knowing what her friends are thinking and their plan was too cruel plus they lied to her. She didn’t want to be with them anymore. JB and Jr and both of her arms and forced her to stay still.

They pulled her towards the main entrance but Yoojin used all of her energy saved up in her body to lean back and to stay standing where she was.

In the end Jackson couldn’t take her complaints anymore and whizzed her up in his arms and Yoojin tried everything to make him drop her but he bit down his tongue and tried his best to ignore it, even when she bit him.

The rest quickly ran to the entrance and Youngjae noticed that Bambam and Cecilia were walking behind them separately while having their own conversations.

“Okay, but what do we have here?” Youngjae’s words made everyone turn to the separate couple who looked like they were hiding something.

Jackson laughed loudly knowing that there was definitely something going on.

Cecilia quickly confessed that she liked Bambam and basically she was courting him until he figured out his feelings for her and once he’s fully gotten over Yoojin.

Yoojin felt proud that Cecilia managed to say her feelings. She remembered when the girl looked extremely nervous telling about it to her even if she wasn’t Bambam. Yoojin wondered how Cecilia did it.

Everyone was cooing and Yugyeom broke off the moment by directly pointing out that the guys should be the one courting the girls and that made Jisoo to reach up and smack him on the head and told him to shut up.

Jackson put Yoojin down and blocked path behind her very closely. The rest of her friends built a human wall so she couldn’t squeeze through and run away. Yoojin gave up and stood there and watch.

“Listen carefully.” Jackson leaned in behind her ear and pointed at the stage at the front where the Li family was standing proudly.

“I’ll trust Yoojin in your hands. And I hope I can trust you with her.” Sara found her eyes and the corners of her lips curled up to a sincere smile.

Yoojin suddenly felt bad and she wanted to protest or say something but she was getting tired of protesting, she was getting tired of pushing away the things she wants to happen.

She wanted to be selfish for once. She wanted to do something for herself. She wanted to be happy and live the life she wanted with the people she loved and want to be with. Sara was offering it to her. She offered her something that she’s pushed away too many times.

If Yoojin lets go one more time, she knows that she won’t have any more chances. So she decided to take it bravely, because she deserves to be happy too. She could only pray that the other person is still willing to do the same.

“You can trust me Sara-ssi.” Her voice boomed confidently in comparison to the dead-silent crowd that was watching her. “I’ll take care of Mark well… if only he’s willing to accept me once again.”

Yoojin tried to find Mark in the crowd but she couldn’t see him. She spotted a male wearing a formal suit while walking slowly towards them. She couldn’t even recognise Mark in a formal wear. He looked adorable even though he was oozing with awkwardness. Mark still looked handsome as ever.

“You think I’ll accept you that easily?” his sudden outrage turned the tables around.

Yoojin saw it coming but still jumped in surprise. When Yoojin stole a glance at Sara, she noticed that the girl looked flustered. She definitely didn’t want this to happen. An angry Mark wasn’t part of the plan.

“Stupid. How could you do this to me? How could you make me wait this long?”

“Sorry. I’m sorry, I really am. I was a coward and I didn’t know what I wanted. I have my head together now Mark… I promise I’ll do better. I’m sorry.”

Yoojin stepped forward but Mark stopped backwards.

“Mark please… I’m sorry. I really really am and I miss you so bad, don’t do this.”

Sara rolled her eyes. She knew that Mark was holding himself back. His fist was curled up tightly beside him. She had a feeling that he was still thinking about her. That was what Mark was like. He was loyal and was thoughtful of others. Too thoughtful to be exact.

“Mark, just hug her. We all know that’s what you want.”

Mark was startled and snapped his head at Sara. She urged him to hurry up and Mark mouthed a small thank you before running towards Yoojin and holding her close.

“You owe me, a lot.”

Yoojin grinned and patted his back before placing her head comfortably against his chest, “I know. I’ll promise to make up to you.”

The two hugged for a long time and the crowd started to break out. Some accepted what Sara said, some was still confuse but everyone was warmed up when they saw the two teenagers reunited even if most didn’t fully understand what happened.

Sara thanked everyone once again and went down to shake hands with those that wanted to meet her before meeting 6Mix and Got7 who she planned the event with around two nights ago. Sara had fully decided to move to America and give up on Mark and she was excited to go home. It took a long time encouraging both parents –hers and Mark’s –that she was okay with not being engaged with Mark.

Everything was sorted out and all they needed was for Yoojin to come. Luckily 6Mix did a good job at that and Got7 didn’t do much but all they really came for was for the catered food that Yugyeom and JB attacked after Yoojin and Mark made up.

Sara and Yoojin broke off the awkward atmosphere and talked comfortably with one another and Yoojin met Mr and Mrs Tuan once again who said they missed her a lot too. Hayoung dropped exciting news that she was pregnant when she and Yoojin finally had some gossip time with one another.

While Yoojin was walking around trying to familiarise herself with the house once again, she spotted her mother who lied about being at work. It turned out she was in the plan too and completely fooled Yoojin.

“This may be rude but…” a middle aged man approached the group of friends who took over the centre of the room and started to dance crazily and hanged out together. They all stopped and politely waited for the man to continue his sentence.

“Who is she exactly?”

Mark confirmed that he was talking about Yoojin who he had his arm around her waist. “Mr Park this is Baek Yoojin…”

“I’m his personal maid but now, I’m his girlfriend.” Yoojin finished it off and Mark scrunched up his nose feeling the corniness take over his body and he couldn’t help but to shudder and squeal. Yoojin hit his arm feeling embarrassed for saying such a line.

Yugyeom started to chant ‘kiss her’ and without a doubt everyone started to join in. Yoojin was shaking her hand in front of her and stepped on Yugyeom’s foot for revenge but the tall younger poked his tongue out childishly.

Mark forced her to stay still and fixed her hair that was messed up due to dancing. She shyly told him she’ll do it herself but Mark told her to stay still. “You’re so beautiful you know that right?”

Yoojin almost chocked on her spit and her face was starting to feel like it was burning. Mark smirked and brushed her cheeks that tinted pink in an instant. His actions made the ‘kiss her’ chant to grow louder.

He leaned in and Yoojin closed her eyes slowly while her heart beat grew rapidly. Mark’s heart began to grow beat faster and louder as he comes closer as well. They were merely two centimetres apart and Mark closed his eyes too and…

◘◘◘

“Alright, I think that’s good enough!” Jackson pushed Jaebum away not caring if he was the leader of his boy group or not. He wrapped his hands around Yoojin’s hands and pulled her away from Mark who stared at him in surprised.

“What are you doing? We weren’t finished yet.”

“It’s fine, it’s fine, it’s fine.” The director stood up from his seat and addressed that they’ll use the camera from an angle to manipulate the kiss scene. It was the last scene of the day and the final moment of the web-drama that they were filming. Jackson was more than happy. He couldn’t stand seeing his own member and best friend being in a couple with his own girlfriend.

“Jackson, control your glare would you?” Yoojin thanked the on-set assistant who offered her a bottle of water and handed Yoojin her own coat. The girl offered her boyfriend a sip of the water but Jackson shook his head.

“Why don’t you share with Mark since you seem a lot more lovey-dovey and happy with him?” Jackson was sulking. Even a kid would know that. Yoojin thought he was adorable.

She held his cheek in her hands, warming them up since the cold was getting to him. She worries for Jackson a lot. He gets sick easily and he doesn’t eat well or sleep well because of his idol life.

“I hate the fact that you’re an actress.” He mumbled when they were on the way to the change room to change into warm and casual clothes, “you’ll have to kiss a million guys and be in love team with other guys other than me.”

“Jackson, that’s the point. I’m an actress. It’s all an act. Besides, you’re an idol. You show more love to your fans other than me.”

Jackson shook his head almost immediately, “IGOT7’s are my fans and I thank them for everything, but you’re the one I love the most.”

Yoojin grinned and Jackson bent down to give her a peck. Yugyeom pushed Jackson and stopped the two couple from having a moment.

“Can you not do this right now? We’re all tired and you two are on the way.” Even though Yugyeom was the maknae he was never afraid to taking in charge of his hyungs and telling them off. Before Jackson would land a punch across the maknae’s face, Yoojin stopped him.

“Sorry Gyeom-ah. You too girls.”

The group of girls that was known as 6Mix in the web-drma was walking behind Yugyeom. They were also idols and were debuting soon under the same company as Got7. It felt so weird acting with them in Yoojin’s point of view since she was older than all of them.

Mark suddenly popped up and said hello. Jackson became defensive and stood in front of Yoojin.

“Idiot. He’s just saying hello.” Yoojin scolded Jackson who tried to protest but was merely ignored.

Mark laughed in amusement at how quick Yoojin could make Jackson quiet and to stay still. They’ve known each other for a long time but Mark still doesn’t know how to control Jackson. No one does and even their chairman of the JYP company struggles with him.

Yoojin and Jackson had only been in a relationship for seven months but they act as though they’ve been a married couple for five or so years.

“You’ve worked hard today.” Mark smiled at Yoojin and asked for a hug that Yoojin gladly accepted and Jackson was definitely upset about.

“I’ll see you around?”

Mark nodded and hurried to join Yugyeom who called him over.

Jackson was glaring at her and Yoojin tip-toed to peck him on the lips. It always cheered him up and it worked like magic once again.

“You’re the one I like, trust me, so don’t ever be jealous by those guys.” She ruffled Jackson’s bangs and he grinned and took her hand and kissed the very back of it. He mumbled a shy ‘okay’ and the two joined the others while holding hands.

Author's Note:
