The next day, we focused on practicing our duet for Monday. At first, I was really nervous and sang really softly. He then encourage me to sing freely and kept telling me that I had a wonderful voice. My fever wasn’t completely gone, but I felt better. We practiced the song for the whole day and arranged everything to make it perfect. He assured me every 10 minutes that I’ll do fine and I don’t need to worry. Well, I am worried and I’m not going to do fine because I can’t sing in front of a large group of people! And with Jimin in my class, God knows what’ll happen to me. I couldn’t stop thinking about this for the whole night and only 2 hours of sleep.

Kyungsoo woke me up so early because he wants us to prepare. Music’s not even until the freaking last period! He dragged me to the bus stop, then our class. Soori! Are you feeling better? Luhan asked as he took my hand and pulled me to my seat. I softly nodded and took out my phone to play with. The guys were talking about the duet thing and it made me more nervous. If I embarrass myself, Jimin will use it against me and make things worse. Whenever she bullied me, I could never talk back. I don’t know why but all the sarcastic comments in my head just disappear. She just scares me a lot. I hope things would go uninterrupted tomorrow.

The day went quickly and finally it was the last period. I fell asleep through most of the periods and has slight nightmares about the performance. The teacher gave us 10 minutes to practice before the first couple starts. Okay Soori, we can do this. Just relax and if you need to, hold my hand. When you panic, just squeeze it. He said, taking out the acoustic instrumental he recorded last night. He started to play the song and I took a few deep breaths. I started singing and focused on being relaxed. After my part ended, he sang his part and we slowly combined our voices together and ended with a sweet note. I opened my eyes and looked at his excited face. We are going to nail this! He said, clapping his hands.

The first couple started and it was Sehun and Kai, the maknaes. They sang a simple rap song and amazed me at how good they were. The girls started cheering and everyone clapped. The next couple was Jimin and Hyo Kyung. Hyo Kyung ditched her partner for Jimin and rumors said that she called her ex-partner a talentless plastic-faced . It confused me because I thought she was the talentless plastic two-faced . They sang Girls Generation Gee and it was horrible. I could see some students, including the exo guys. Kyungsoo had a straight face, but I knew he wanted to laugh. I was too busy being nervous to pay attention to their laughable voices. The teacher also seemed to snicker during their performance. Oh by the way teacher, I hope we get the highest grades. Hyo Kyung said as she flipped her hair and went back to her seat with Jimin.

More couples went until it was time for the last couple, Kyungsoo and I. I nervously walked to the front, both my legs shaking from the nervousness. You guys can do it! Chanyeol said, earning a cheer from the exo guys. I hope you ~ Jimin said, soft enough for me to hear. Hyo Kyung chuckled and starred at me with her face. Remember, just squeeze my hand if you start to panic. He whispered, while playing the instrumental. I closed my eyes and took Kyungsoo’s hand.

I opened my eyes and it was met with the looks of awe from all the students. I could see that exo was the most surprised out of all. They all stood up and gave us a big round of applause. Woah, she’s good. A girl said. That was a good combination. They actually look cute together. Another said. I looked up at Kyungsoo and shakily smiled at him. Thank you. I whispered, looking at his almost squished hand. My heart was beating so fast, it could stop from overbeating itself. We both bowed and went back to our seats. From the corner of my eye, I could see Jimin and Hyo Kyung ing about me. I could care less, since I was still shaking. That was a beautiful performance guys. Ms. Dae, your voice is outstanding. Mr. Do, your voice was also amazing. Great job both of you! She said as she wrote some notes on her clipboard. I looked down to my lap and closed my eyes. Relax Soori, it’s over. Stop shaking. Kyungsoo nudged me and squeezed my hand. You did amazing! He whispered, making me feeling giddy inside.

Class was dismissed and I slowly packed my stuff. I was so happy that I didn’t hear the guys telling me that they need to see some teachers for a bit and that I should stay here to be safe. I walked out of the classroom happily while humming to myself. I walked through an empty hallway and didn’t notice 2 girls walking my way. Look who’s coming our way Hyo. It’s the attention freak. Jimin said as she walked faster. My happiness had just been interrupted by her voice and I looked up. Both of them were heading my way and I panicked. The exo guys weren’t here and there was nothing to protect me. I wanted to run, but my feet felt as if it was stuck to the ground. Your guardian idiots aren’t here? That’s a shocker. Did they finally realize how pathetic they looked by hanging around you? Jimin said as she dropped her bag to the ground. She came closer grabbed my arm that was burnt a few days ago. Look Hyo, I made this! I burnt her poor little arm. Serves you right for existing! She said as she squeezed it harder. I pried my arm of her grip and stepped back. W-what the hell do you want? I asked, slowly walking back further and further until my back reached the walls. I want you to be gone! Because you’re a worthless piece of ! Look how much trouble you’re causing exo! They’re burdened because they need to take care of a clumsy like you! She said, grabbing my chin and lifting it up. You’re not even that pretty! Hyo Said, dragging Jimin’s bag. And why can’t you keep your flirting away from them! Especially my baby Kyungie. You’re such a burden to him! Just by looking at his face when he’s around you, he just wants to get rid of you! She said, letting go of my chin roughly. I’m a burden to them am I? You’re worthless, you at everything, you’re ugly, you cause trouble for everyone, and you’ll never be good enough! You taped your voice earlier right? There was no way you could sing-

A loud thud interrupted her. I looked to the side and saw the guys standing just a meter away. Of course not you . She sang it live and it was worth to watch unlike your performance! I thought two dying whales were singing! Kyungsoo said, pulling me to his side. Oh look, the hero came to the rescue. Jimin said, rolling her eyes. Can you stop attacking her? What did she do to even make you hate her so much? You’re such a heartless ! Kris yelled, stepping forward. Everything started when she existed! The first day she was born hell broke loose! She laughed. I am just worthless and burdensome… she’s right. And seriously guys, I know you’d rather hang out with me and treat me like a princess than with that worthless thing. She’s just burdening you! Jimin yelled. I looked at Luhan and his face was already red. What kept him from attacking her was Minseok who held his wrist. Junmyeon was about to say something but I interrupted. You’re right. You’re actually right about something. I said, looking at her. I am worthless, I am a burden, I am just a ‘thing.’ My existence is probably the worst thing that happened to the earth. I said, my eyes traveling to the guys. Don’t say that! Kyungsoo said, reaching for my hand, but I pulled away and took a step back. No! It’s all true! I’m sorry guys for being such a worthless clumsy burden. I said and ran out of the school as fast as I could, not knowing where to go. I let my tears flow out and kept running for who knows how long.

Soori!! The guys shouted as they ran for me. Kyungsoo was about to run, but Jimin grabbed his hand. Oppa! Don’t waste your time running for her. Let’s have fun. She said, pouting at Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo pushed her away and glared at her. You’re such a ing . Putting words into people’s mouths and ruining lives. He said, with the most despicable tone. Why do you keep defending her! What is she to you? She’s just a worthless piece of trash! Jimin said, stepping forward. No she’s not, you are! Kyungsoo said, trying hard to not land a punch to her face. Do you like her? Is that why you’re so protective over her?! I thought you said you weren’t going to love anyone ever again! Jimin asked. So what if I do?! It has nothing to do with you! He said, confirming his feelings. What the hell does she have that I don’t!? She’s ugly for pete sake! What makes her better than me?! She yelled, curious of his anwers.

She’s not you. He said, and ran out of the school to find Soori.
