Symptom 23

"Why are they making us sit around for so long?" Woohyun whined.  He was beginning to lose it.  Woohyun hated sitting around for too long doing nothing. He crossed his arms and wondered why they were the only ones in this room.  Didn't Jungyeop say that other teams were supposed to be here, so they can discuss how they were going to explore the catacombs that were located under the mausoleums.

"Do you think something happened?" Sungjong asked Hoya with a concerned expression on his face.

"Why are you asking me? How am I supposed to know?" Hoya said in an annoyed tone.  He knew that something was not right.   His animal instincts were tingling, but he did not want to mention it to the others members of the team.  Hoya did not want them to worry.

"Because you normally know when something is up." Sungyeol sighed as he leaned against the wall, and wondered why everyone was being so secretive lately, especially Sunggyu.  Sungyeol understood that there were certain things their leader was not allowed to tell them, but he hated being in the dark.  

"I don't know anything..." Hoya lied for the second time today.

"Sure you don't" Myungsoo said with his arms crossed. "I can tell that you are lying hyung. What are your animal instincts telling you? I know it has something to do with Sunggyu hyung?"

"I don't know what you are talking about." Hoya said as he glared at Myungsoo. "I would tell you if my animal instincts were tingling."

"Are you really trying to challenge me?" Myungsoo took a step towards Hoya, fist clenched.  He hated how Hoya was lying to him with a straight face.  "I KNOW SUNGGYU HYUNG IS NO LONGER AT THE COUNCIL!" Myungsoo shouted.  "I cannot sense his presents.  He went somewhere and I bet his life is in danger again because you are not telling us anything. Are still after Sunggyu hyung's position as leader?"

"I am no longer after Sunggyu hyung's position.  I a stopped being after it when I saw how sick he was because of my behavior."

"It is not just because of your behavior Howonnie." Dongwoo said as he looked at the others.  He was debating whether or not he should confess a few things that he is allowed to reveal about Sunggyu.  Dongwoo knew that he could not tell them that Sunggyu was taking medicine to stop the virus from taking over.

"What do you mean?" Hoya asked.

"Sunggyu hyung has a lot of things going on with him internally.   As you guys already know he was affected greatly by the loss of his parents, grandparents, sister, brother-in-law, and his niece and nephews death.  They were murdered by a vampire who wanted to prevent Sunggyu's parents from finding a cure for this Contagion."

"It's been almost five years.  He is still not over their deaths?"  Woohyun asked.

"Woohyun, that is something that you do not get over easily." Sungjong said.  "He lost everything that day. I am shocked that he hides what he is truly feeling so well. Jongwan hyung told me that I am as stubborn as Sunggyu hyung when I got my check up."

"Yahh, I'm your hyung, you should address me as such." Woohyun said with his arms crossed.

"Not when you say stupid things." Sungjong shot back at the older male in a sassy tone.

"Enough..." Dongwoo said  as he pinched the bridge of his noise.  He was annoyed that everyone was arguing.  Why do things always have to turn out like this, when Sunggyu was not around.  "I am trying to explain something to you, but you keep interrupting me.  We have to stay on topic."

"Go on hyung." Myungsoo said as she shot glares at everyone, hoping they would all shut up. 

"Sunggyu hyung is not completely healed from what happened that day.  He still has panic attacks when he sees too much blood.  I try to keep him away from blood, but I cannot stop him from seeing it in his nightmares. Sangjangnim asked me to keep an eye on Sunggyu and makes sure he does not go down the path of revenge."

"Is hyung going down that path?" Sungyeol asked in a worried tone.  He really hoped that was not the case.  Sungyeol knew if Sunggyu got his revenge, the older man would probably lose his mind.

"I get a different answer from him every day so I am not sure." Dongwoo sighed as he head the door of the conference room open. 

"Soryong hyung, what are you doing here?"  Sungjong asked, looking at the older male.  He knew that he was not bringing good news.

"I came here to tell you that the meeting has to be rescheduled for another day." Soryong said as he looked at Sunggyu's team.  He was about to leave, but Myungsoo blocked the doorway.  Soryong looked at the younger male and sighed, "Step aside L!"

"I will not step aside until you tell us why you were lying to us." Myungsoo said in a demanding tone. "I am not moving from this stop until you tell me, and there is no point in trying to move me aside because I will kill you before you can do that."

"L don't talk like that." Sungyeol sighed.

"He doesn't mean it..."Sungjong said, "Hyung is just frustrated that something bad is always happening to Sunggyu hyung. It will put his mind at ease if you tell us what is going on."

"Sunggyu disappeared."

"What do you mean he disappeared?"  Dongwoo asked.

"Baby Soul was the last one to see him.  She told me that he seemed to be upset about something. Please stay here until we find Sunggyu."

"We are not prisoners so stop treating us like one." Myungsoo said in a cold tone. "We are not going to sit around this time.  We are going to find Sunggyu hyung, whether sangjangnim likes it or not." Myungsoo pushed past Soryong and looked back at the rest of Infinite. "Are you coming or not?"
