It was Hanji’s birthday and Wonwoo woke up jumping out of his bed after his alarm went off. He made it stop and walked to his sister’s bedroom quietly so she would wake up. He sat on the edge of her bed and leaned down to shake her lightly.

“Who’s getting old today?” Wonwoo said not really loudly and Hanji turned around rubbing his eyes “Wake up” he sang and the girl turned around facing her brother with a tiny smile on her lips.

“Morning” she said and Wonwoo smiled.

“Morning” he said and she sat up.

Wonwoo stood up from his seat and Hanji jumped on his arms, he caught her and kissed her cheek.

“Happy birthday, oldie” he said and she hugged him.

“Thanks, but I’m not an oldie”

“Of course you are” he said and she laughed “But now you’re going down because you’re heavy”

“You aren’t strong enough” she said and Wonwoo put her down.

After going down to greet their mum, Hanji getting congratulated by her mum, eating breakfast, dressing and getting ready they headed out of the house.

“What do you want as a present?” Wonwoo asked her as they walked.

“I’ll tell you after school, I still have to think”

“Ok”

Soon they reached her school where Mingyu was waiting for them. He approached the siblings.

“Hello” he said smiling and crouched down in front of Hanji “Happy birthday, Hanji”

“Thank you” she smiled and hugged him.

“Ooh, you’re so grown up now” Mingyu said and she laughed “And you look prettier”

“Thanks, do you like my hair? My mum did it for me” she said happily.

“It looks amazing” Mingyu said.

“Hey, I’m here” Wonwoo said kicking Mingyu’s .

“Sorry I only talk to people who were born today” Mingyu said and winked at Hanji who just laughed.

“I have a boyfriend to be ignored, such a great decision” Wonwoo joked and Mingyu laughed, looking up at Wonwoo.

“Let me flirt with you sister, I see her less than I see you” Mingyu said and Wonwoo kicked him again.

“Don’t flirt with her you ert, she’s my little sister” Wonwoo said and Mingyu laughed.

“Oh my friends are here, see you later” she said and Wonwoo kissed her cheek before she hugged Mingyu again and ran to her friends who hugged her happily.

Mingyu sat up and approached Wonwoo who pushed him lightly. “Let’s go” Wonwoo said as he started walking towards their school.

“Hey, wait a moment” Mingyu pulled from his arm and made him stand in front of him again. Then he leaned in and kissed Wonwoo “You look better than your sister, to be honest”

“And you’re a freaking flirt” Wonwoo said smiling.

“Only for you” Mingyu said and Wonwoo kissed him.

“Let’s go” he said and he grabbed Mingyu’s hand.

The walked hand in hand during the whole walk. When they entered the building they said goodbye to each other with a little and quick peck and parted ways.

In no time lunch time was there and Wonwoo knew his friends were already there. They’d have to tell them about everything, and honestly, Wonwoo was a little nervous. Wonwoo wanted to tell them a few days later but Mingyu insisted in telling them that day, he wanted to be able to act as a normal couple.

He entered the cafeteria and sat on his usual place after greeting his friends. After a minute Mingyu entered as well and smiled at Wonwoo, who smiled back. As soon as Mingyu reached the table he walked over to Wonwoo and gave him a quick kiss.

“How was the morning?” Wonwoo asked him with a smile.

“Pretty boring” Mingyu said and Wonwoo kissed him now before Mingyu went over to sit on his chair.

“Hold up” Jisoo said.

“Oh god” Soonyoung exclaimed.

“What was that?” Jihoon asked.

“A kiss” Wonwoo said.

“Actually, two kisses” Mingyu said and Wonwoo glared at him, but the younger sent him a flying kiss instead “Now three”

“That didn’t count” Wonwoo said.

“Do you want me to give you another one?” Mingyu said about to stand up again.

“Yeah, we know that” Soonyoung said and looked both males sitting opposite each other.

“Yes! I knew it” Jisoo cheered and Mingyu raised an eyebrow.

“What the hell? Are you serious?” Jihoon said.

“So serious” Mingyu said “Right my little cupcake?” he said looking at Wonwoo.

“If you’re going to be this gross I’ll punch you, I mean it” Wonwoo said.

“Alright, sorry” Mingyu said and Wonwoo smiled at him.

“Can anyone tell me what’s going on?” Soonyoung said.

“Dude, they’re together, are you blind or something?” Jisoo said and Soonyoung glared at him.

“No, I’m not blind, but I don’t know how the hell it escalated that quickly”

“Do you really want to know?” Mingyu asked.

“Kim Mingyu, you’re not telling them the whole story” Wonwoo said.

“Why not? They’re our friends, but they’ve been your friends for more time, they deserve to know”

“Alright, tell them if you want” Wonwoo said resting sitting back on his chair and sighing.

Mingyu told the guys the whole story, without many details, just the main points. They didn’t interrupt in the whole speech, they just let Mingyu talk and Wonwoo observed him just to try he wouldn’t talk too much. He just wanted some things to stay between them. Finally Mingyu finished telling everything they needed to know, including the detail of him going to Wonwoo’s place before any of them.

“I can’t believe you wanted him to go to your place before any of us” Soonyoung said shooting Wonwoo a hurt look.

“Look, I’m sorry, but I just-”

“You prefer him, right?” Soonyoung said.

“It’s not like that, Soonyoung” Wonwoo said “You know I appreciate you a lot, you’re my friends”

“Then why?”

“It’s the way he acts towards me” Wonwoo finally said “He looks at me like a normal person, but you… you three look at me with pity… Oh poor boy without dad, and he lost his best friend the same day. I need someone to look at me without that look. I saw him like a new start, you know? He had no clue about anything, all the school knows about me except him, and I thanked him so much for that. And he didn’t tell you but I told him the whole story because I knew he would look at me the same way he’s been looking at me since we met, and I was right, he doesn’t shoot me that pity look and believe me it wasn’t in my plans falling for him, but… I guess you can’t control your feelings” Wonwoo said.

“Sorry” Jisoo said.

“So you do prefer him over us” Soonyoung said.

“Ok, yes, I do. Feeling better now?” Wonwoo said and bit his food, feeling angry already, so the other boys didn’t think of saying anything else, but Mingyu of course he was different, so he moved his chair and brought it next to Wonwoo’s.

“So… condoms and lube you said” Mingyu said and Wonwoo couldn’t help but laugh and choke with his food That’s my Kim Mingyu, Wonwoo thought.

“How the hell can you change the subject like that?” Wonwoo said still coughing and Mingyu shrugged.

“Please don’t die” he said and Wonwoo finally stopped coughing “I don’t like seeing you angry” Mingyu pouted and Wonwoo smiled wide at his cuteness.

“You’re the best, you know that?”

“Of course I do, I’m Kim Mingyu; perfection’s other name” Mingyu said and Wonwoo laughed “So… what was I saying? Oh right, condoms and lube”

“ert”

“It’s not me the one who’s going to buy that” Mingyu said and took a bite of his food as well.

“I’m not going to buy that”

“Did I say it was you are the one buying it?” Mingyu said.

“My mum’s too much, you know her already” Wonwoo said and Mingyu laughed.

“What was her reaction though?”

“I don’t know she was so excited and happy that I was getting laid” Wonwoo chuckled.

“You are?” Mingyu earning a glare from the older “Just tell me whenever you’re ready” Mingyu whispered and Wonwoo blushed.

“Please Mingyu, we’re at school, stop it” Wonwoo said.

“So cute” Mingyu said “You’re blushing”

“Oh god, I’m so done with you” Wonwoo said and ate the remaining of his food.

“Tomorrow… can you come to my place instead of me going to yours?” Mingyu asked Wonwoo getting a bit closer.

“Why? You know I have to-” Wonwoo said but then he thought “Actually I can, my mum’s at home tomorrow”

“Perfect” Mingyu smiled “Don’t worry, we won’t do anything nasty”

“I hope so”

Wonwoo sipped his drink and pictured themselves in the round bed, kissing passionately and slowly taking off their clothes. He imagined how Mingyu kissed and bit his neck gently making him moan weakly. Stop it Wonwoo, please, don’t think about that, he told himself, but the thoughts would invade his mind again. Luckily Mingyu was there to make him forget about that… or not.

“Oh, you know what?” Mingyu said “Today in class I was the only one who had right the homework, I felt so proud… but that’s all thanks to you”

“Of course not, it’s you the one who did the homework” Wonwoo said and Mingyu smiled.

“But you explained me the whole thing before I did my homework”

“Whatever” Wonwoo said.

“Look at me” Wonwoo did as he was told “Thank you, like seriously”

“Mingyu… you know I’d do anything to help you” Wonwoo said quietly feeling his toes curling because of the cheesiness.

“Can I kiss you now?”

“No need to ask, idiot” Wonwoo smiled and Mingyu kissed him, controlling himself a bit because they were still in the cafeteria.

Classes were done and Wonwoo already got to Hanji’s school with Mingyu by his side. As soon as Hanji got to the couple she greeted her brother and his boyfriend, so Mingyu decided to get going and go home.

“I’m going now, ok? Call me whenever you can, you’ll be busy today” Mingyu told Wonwoo as he wrapped an arm around his boyfriend’s waist.

“Alright, I’ll call you before I go to bed” Wonwoo said.

“Good” Mingyu said “Bye, Hanji, enjoy your birthday, ok?” he said smiling at the girl who nodded happily “See you tomorrow” he told Wonwoo. The older looked at Mingyu and pouted out his lips asking for a kiss and Mingyu gladly kissed him. Wonwoo felt his sister pulling from his shirt making him pull away after less than two seconds of the kiss. He looked at her and she gave him a hurried look.

“See you tomorrow” Wonwoo said and pecked Mingyu one last time before letting go of him and seeing him get on his motorbike and drive away from the school to his house “What is wrong with you? We don’t kiss for 3 hours straight, you know?” he said looking at his sister.

“I know, but I want to go home” she said giving him an innocent look.

“Alright let’s go”

Wonwoo decided not to say anything else and just walk home with his sister by his side. After a few minutes Hanji grabbed Wonwoo’s hand making the boy look down and earn a cute smile from his sister.

“I already decided my present” she said.

“Did you? Alright, I hope it’s not really expensive, I haven’t got a lot of money” Wonwoo said and smiled at her.

“It’s not expensive at all, you don’t even have to buy it” she said smiling and Wonwoo looked surprised at her.

“Hmm, I’m curious now, what is it?” he said.

“Alright, I’ll tell you now” she said “So well, lately there’s been something going on and well…”

“Come on, tell me”

“Ok. I want you to break up with Mingyu” she said and Wonwoo stopped walking letting go Hanji’s hand. He laughed.

“I can’t do that” he said but Hanji looked at him with a serious face.

“Why?” she asked.

“Well, I haven’t told him yet but I love him, ok? I can’t break up with him so easily, and I won’t”

“I don’t care” she said.

“Wait, were you being serious?” Wonwoo asked her laughing a bit but as soon as he saw Hanji’s face his smiled dropped “You are”

“Yes. You ignore me when Mingyu’s around, he’s changed you so much, you’re not the same anymore” she said.

“I can’t believe it” Wonwoo chuckled and started walking again, and a few seconds later Hanji followed him.

“Wonwoo” she said.

“No, Hanji, I’m not going to break up with him, ever” Wonwoo said “And I don’t care if you’re jealous ok? You need to learn how to share with other people”

“But I’m not jealous” she said.

“Oh please, I’m not stupid. You are jealous. All that boyfriend thing you told me about I know you were just trying to get my attention, right, but I’m not going to let you interfere in my relationship with Mingyu”

“But you don’t pay attention to me” she said childishly.

“What? Ok, this is a joke right? Look, I don’t want to get angry at you in your birthday, so please stop talking about this”

“No” she said “Let’s talk”

“I don’t want to talk too much, believe me”

“Ok, tell me”

“You don’t want to know this” Wonwoo said and they reached their front door. Wonwoo pulled out his keys and opened the door letting Hanji come in first.

Wonwoo went straight to his bedroom refusing to continue the discussion. So he just sat on his desk chair and checked his phone, finding a text message from his mum telling them she was coming home earlier that day so they could go out for dinner the three of them.

He went to Hanji’s bedroom to tell her about that.

“Ok” she said “What is that you don’t want to tell me?”

“What do you want for you birthday? And don’t get Mingyu involved in it”

“I want to sleep in your bedroom tonight” she said.

“Ok” he said and nodded “No problem with that”

“Now tell me” she said “Why do you refuse to consider what I told you? You’ve changed, Wonwoo”

“Yes, I know I’ve changed, but for good, you don’t understand how happy I am now” he said.

“Weren’t you happy before?”

“No. I kept thinking about dad and Doyoon; my friends’ faces reminded me their death every day, but now… It’s awesome, it’s just like everything started again and I feel so good”

“So that means you’re happy without me”

“No, of course not. You know that’s not true, I love being with you, believe me, but it’s just that sometimes I’d like to have some time for myself or with my friends, only us, but since mum has such busy days I have to stay here with you and I can’t do everything I’d like to, but I still love staying with you”

“Oh, ok” she said a little sad “So tomorrow when mum picks me up from school you’ll go somewhere else?”

“Yeah” he said smiling at his sister “I’ll go to Mingyu’s”

“Why always him?” she said frowning.

“Because I love him, Hanji”

“More than me?”

“The kind of love I have for him it’s different from the one I have for you, you can’t make me choose”

“But you kiss him all the time”

“That’s not true. It’s just that when you see us together is when we greet or say goodbye”

“Then what about the tutoring afternoons?”

“Ok, we study and do homework but once we finish we start talking and… It’s not my fault he’s so kissable ok? Plus, he loves teasing me”

The front door opened and closed and Wonwoo stood up “Mum’s here” he said and both of them went downstairs to greet their mum, but they were greeted by a huge teddy bear, and the next thing he heard was a high pitched scream from his sister as she ran to hug the teddy bear.

“MUM YOU’RE THE BEST, OH MY GOD, IT’S SO SOFT” she said.

“Happy Birthday, honey” she said leaving the teddy bear resting against the wall and hugged her daughter.

Wonwoo looked at them smiling as he rested his weight on the wall.

“Hey, sweetheart, I got something for you too” she said holding up a shopping bag and Wonwoo looked at her surprised.

“Oh, what did you get him? Can I see it?” Hanji said excited.

“Sorry, dear, this is something only your brother and I can see, you’re too young for this” she said holding the bag away from Hanji, and then Wonwoo understood what she bought.

“Mum… you didn’t buy that, right?” Wonwoo said slowly walking to her.

“Of course I did, I just didn’t have time to do so these past weeks” she said smiling “Here you have it”

“Is it a secret present?” Hanji asked really curious.

“No, it’s not a present” Wonwoo said.

“It’s something your brother will need from now on” their mum explained and Wonwoo glared at her “Don’t look at me like that, I’m doing this for your own good, you should thank me. Here” she gave the bag to Wonwoo who looked inside and saw two boxes of condoms and a bottle of lube.

“Why the hell did you get two boxes?”

“They came in different flavors so I took your two favorites”

“Is it candy?” Hanji asked and Wonwoo blushed deep red “I want one”

“No, it’s not candy, Hanji please, don’t ask about it, just… please”

“Your brother is going to become an adult soon” his mum said as she caressed Hanji’s hair.

“An adult? But his birthday already passed” Hanji said innocently.

“I’m going to my room” Wonwoo said and walked up the stairs.

“Keep it, honey, don’t you dare throwing them away”

Sure, mum. Oh my god, why did I do to deserve this? But I’ll still keep this, for when I’m a bit older, Wonwoo thought and put the bag inside his closet, deeply inside hoping to use it soon, with Mingyu.
