Jessica's POV

It's been more than a month since Yuri took over the bookstore. She never showed up again. I have a supervisor named Mr. Do, who shows up once a week to check up on the bookstore.

I was living in my own world, imagining that everything is going to be okay. That someday the truth will come up and Yuri will be back with me, just like in those romantic movies.

But this is real life, this is nothing like the movies with a happy ending.

I was closing the bookstore that day when the telephone in the store rang.

"Yeoboseyo?“

"Jessica shii?“

"Yes, Do-shii?“ I recognized his voice. Mr. Do isn't the friendliest guy in the world, but at least he's honest.

"The Kwon company is throwing a party tomorrow to celebrate the opening of their 25th club. One of the waitress called in sick. We couldn't find someone to replace her. So you need to be there“

"What?“

"It's in your contract. You are obliged to do jobs appointed to you from the Kwon company. Tomorrow, 7:30 pm. We'll have the clothes ready for you, wear comfortable shoes because the party is going to last until early morning“

He gave me the address and I wrote it down.

"Don't forget and don't be late“ he said.

"Do-shii, wait“

"Yes?“

"Did Yuri, I mean Ms. Kwon tell you to call me to replace the waitress?“

I was kinda hoping that it was Yuri's decision, maybe she wants to see me and use that as an excuse.

"No“ he said shortly "It was my decision. Ms. Kwon doesn't take care of all the small things like this“

"Oh okay. See you tomorrow then, Do-shii“

I hung up. I doubt that Do-shii lied, he's like the most straightfoward person I know. So Yul doesn't even miss me.

I wonder if she's going to come to the party.

I told Soojung and Amber that I can't visit that day. I laughed as I could hear Nayeon's voice from afar "Auntie Jess Jess. Nana misses you“

"Give Nayeon a big hug from me, Soojung“ I said.

"I'll do that, Unnie. Have fun at the party.“

"I doubt that. I'm working, remember?“

"You think she'll be there?“ Soojung's voice sounded worried.

I didn't have to ask, I know who she meant "I don't know. But I'll be fine“

"Take care, unnie“

"Okay, Soojung. Slap your girlfriend for me“

"YAH! You're on speaker, you know!“ I heard Amber scolding from afar.

"Dork!“ I said aloud on the phone.

I laughed out loud as I heard Nayeon repeating what I said "Dork, Daddy, Dork“

"NOOOOO“ I heard Amber wailing "Little Princess, that's a bad word, don't use it. Bad Auntie Jess, bad Auntie“

"Daddy dork“ I heard Nayeon say again.
